This is about underbulks/lightcrawlers in general (which are almost identical)

Defilers are SKs, HT, and FEAR
Every mob doubles (max) for 320-357,
Not quiet sure on HP, know its between 15k and 25k
Fun fights, spent 20+ hours at LCY/MCY/RCY and never got bored =p

awesome xp

I recommend a SLOWER, a 55+ tank, and a cleric, and backup healer, depending on cleric level.

Cant be mezzed (Except with Rapture)

Probably want a monk to pull

Shammies may be a better alternitive to enchanters, but Enchanters are fine =)

they can be mezzed with Apathy, Sleep, and Bliss as well. GoK stuck on a few when I was lower level, but not very many.

GoK never landed for me, tried over 3 dozen times

thanks for the correction with apathy and bliss, and sleep

These can be taken down solo. I am a 54 necro and i can aggro kite these, snare sticks most of the time and even if you pull a caster you can still run out of range. You just have to run around and make sure you have aggro with your dots so your pet can backstab it. you can get anywhere from 1-3% a kill at 53-54.
Little Info about the bugs

Based on past experiences, I have found that all of the underbulks and lightcrawlers range between lvl. 55 and 57. They hit for around 355, but it varies slightly based on level. I cannot confirm this, but it seems that blinding spells are the only form of fear available against them. The Pests and Diseased bugs seem to both be warriors (I think that's right) and the defilers are Shadow Knights.

The defilers use Harm touch for up to 911 damage, nuke for 280, fear, snare, and boil blood. With 120 range magic resist, only 1 in every 20 fear or snares will stick, possibly fewer.

Pests and Diseased bugs (I think diseased can) are able to shield other bugs in the case of multiple pulls, but it is either not done often, or they have to be lvl. 57 to use shield.

Well, that should clear up some issues.

as a druid, you can solo these. You just need to be lucky that snare sticks. Then pull them outside the wall and root dot them, there are no adds there. Just stay far enough away so HT and spells don't hit you. (range 3 item highly recommended, I doubt you can do it without).

really nice exp at 57.

No way a Druid can solo these by root/dotting. They are Necro's and at 57 they would be fearing you all over the zone. That's without the nasty DoT's they stack on you first. o)

I often go here with a 65 chanter who charms a Pest. He wont let me pull because as soon as I hit it with that snare it is on the fear button.. and thats at level 60 with 168 MR. Also, their cast range is on the edge of ER3, so as soon as you step back into ER3 range to cast a root/DoT, it has hit you with something. :o)

Maybe you are getting mixed up with the Diseased Lightcrawler, or the lightcrawler Pest? Either way... posting misleading information gets people killed, so if you are not 100% sure of what you are talking about, save your ink. :o)

I was pulling for my group with my druid here at 60. If you sem i decent resists, you do not get feared, or snared or anything.

If they guy has good resists, and stays outa range, he can solo them. Maybe take your own advice and just because YOU cant do something, does not mean others cannot.

I have even kited them around when they add. Even if you eat the HT, your resists should kep the rest of the spells off of you.

Best choice of a mob to solo, no. Possible, yes.

These aren't necros, they're SK's. As a 60 BST with only 100 or so MR in normal gear, I've never had a fear land from one of these, and their DoT's are fairly tame. (The initial Harm Touch is generally around 900hp, though.)
Also from your friendly Shaman,

these things have a slightly higher MR than the other mobs here. Same goes for the Underbulk Defilers. I don't have Malo Yet, but if I did, I'd land it before slow coz they resist a fair bit. If you have a Chanter, have him Tash instead, and you're right as rain.

lvl 55 to 57 sk mob can ht from 851 to 911.
can drop ethereal parchments though very rarely.
Mob casts these spells:
invoke fear, engulfing darkness, boil blood, some lifetap for 280 (life leach?)

recommend not soloing these unless you got 150+ mr cuz if you get feared yer most likely dead.
Lightcrawlers
# Nov 09 2002 at 10:02 PM Rating: Decent
Yah they HT for 900 at start then smash for max 355, if you don't slow them they rip you uppretty fast.

It doesn't nuke for 900; it does however HT for somewhere between 851-991 at the beginning of a fight (seems to vary by level, but there are about 4 standard amounts of damage). Also, it doubles for 357, plus has an additional kick attack. Other fun attacks to this necro mob are life tap for 280 when it's low health and a fear spell that will disable you for about 5 seconds if not resisted.

The underbulk defilers run about the same.

Hopefully they don't blind your tank... that'd suck bad. It sucks even at level 31 killing stuff in DS for exp, but when these hit for 300 and have a big nuke, that'd be horrid. This is a time when you call the ORKIN MAN!!! Then call someone else because it smacked him once and he died.
Mean mobs

Hit 300+ usually in sets of 3 and nuke 900+...not nice to run into unexpected

I was hoping we wouldn't see any of the most annoying mobs of Luclin in PoP :(

Well, if this plane is supposed to be about disease and stuff, I think bugs are a perfect addition. Granted i've never fought a lightcrawler before, but I still think they at least look cool.
Ok go ahead and flame me for being an ignorant newbie...or not.
RE: Ugh
# Nov 19 2002 at 11:11 PM Rating: Default
we dislike them namely because they can blind you at melee. Being harm touched, blinded, and whacked for 300s is NOT fun.
RE: Ugh

Errr... the Lightcrawlers in PoD do NOT Blind. :o)

RE: Ugh
# Jun 28 2003 at 4:30 AM Rating: Decent
/agree...don't blind. However, my MR is average for a 49 Pally and that Fear sent me on a 10 mile hike while the rest of my group finished him up. Brought back a couple of rats to the party with cleric LoM...Chanter saved the day with the mez, but those crawlers are tough.
