Flies invisible
# May 10 2005 at 2:29 PM Rating: Default
Has anyone had trouble pulling these flies through the water? It seems when I do that, on occasion a fly will turn invisible so that he still hits me, but I cannot target / cast on it. I'm seriously considering reporting a bug on a bug!

Actually, you can only cast spells in on a mob underwater when you are underwater, too. Same in the reverse...you can only cast spells on mobs out of the water when you are out of the water. This is a general rule. You can shoot arrows, though, at them...and can hit with melee weapons -- just target with keyboard (easiest way) since it's tough to see them.

Its been a while sence you posted this but just in case you have yet to figure out the answer here it is. The flies are not turning invis. What they are doing is going under the land. May be a glitch or something no sure. But thats the reason you cannot see or target them. Only way I have found in dealing with this is to go back over the water and try again. Carefull when doing this thou. Although you may not be able to see all the little critters under the surface of the water they can see you.

Tried soloing these yesterday (55 Mage) & had to Gate out before I could kill the second one. The first one I killed, but it took 3.5 bubbles of mana, & Fido was down to 2 bubbles of health. I was chain-healing my 52 & 44 pet heals to keep pet alive (51 Vocarate Earth, full plate armor, BO3 & SoL) & finally had to nuke away to kill the thing. It dropped a Decaying Antenna, which sold for 61 plat to vendors, & seemed to give a lot of AA xp, so I tried a second one.

The second one, I simply could not keep up with the damage; my pet was dying too quickly, so I just Gated out.

Maybe having some of the higher level Mage toys for pets would help, but I didn't have any.

Something wrong with my bow?
# Jun 20 2004 at 6:07 AM Rating: Decent
Was in a POD group today and decided to try the old bow out, one quiver of arrows and not a single hit on this mob... archery is at 200, decent bow, can't remember the name off the top of my head. Am I doing something wrong?

Yup... my newbie **** did that many times with my ranger (did so much damage with normal didnt even bother blowing a couple hundred plat) til i realized i didnt have magic arrows
...I personally like mage arrows best..lol cheap and i get lucky with them i guess

big thanks to post below btw, very very helpful info for me.

anyway, im not sure if it was one of these or another fly but i soloed some misquito thing here. was grouped at entrance to PoD, someone pulled a fly for me to see if i could solo, forget what level i was but used 51 earth and chained a couple times, then heal/nuke rotation, ended up using rod and oom with pet near dead. they arent too hard considering the other mobs here. /shrug

pretty sure they hit around 150s as mentioned, i wouldnt have been able to kill it if it was over 180 (monk in PoJ owns 51 earth and hits 180s).
Soloing
# Feb 14 2004 at 12:35 AM Rating: Decent
62 Mage with 61 Air pet can solo this camp must pull away from spawn point. at 20% under they start walking no big deal just pull to clean area (no mobs & wandering). There are 5 -6 easy camp.
Exp pts 100% AA is about 2 -2.5 Mobs is a blue bubble so 50-60 is a AA point. Nice if you ant to read and not really be bothered.

Slowing....
# Jul 15 2003 at 12:09 PM Rating: Decent
Weird question...

Can these be slowed by the lvl 22 beastlord/lvl 9 Shammy slow spell Drowsy?

Friend of mine was asking...

Anyone know?

Thanks!

I can't imagine why you would want to... but since slows are not level-capped, like mezzes or charms or such, you certainly could.

The Quad Spot
# Jun 27 2003 at 2:28 AM Rating: Decent
About to attempt these again. At 56 Raptors just don't do it for me anymore. Just not certain of place to quad. I can run them into a tight pack over water, but can I get approx LOC of recommended spot to slay these little guys?

Once in a while they drop one of the following vendorloots (spelling might be off):

Dypterian Eggsac (around 80pp)
Decaying Antenna (around 60pp)
Decaying Wing (around 40pp)

When pulling these the main dangers are the swamp rats and malarian larva(e) that roam around there. Often lurking in the water so you don't see em. Goes for the other bigger flies aswell, by the way.

At one point I saw a Tsetsian Fly that was actually bigger than the others (Tachnian size), and it dropped 2 daggers, being Drogan Obsidian Dagger and another one with similar dmg/del. Both sold for about 5pp. Probably was some kind of fluke since I've killed hundreds of tsetsians and never saw this again.

Stupid Verant
# Nov 27 2002 at 8:43 PM Rating: Default
They seemed to have put only 11 of these in POD and a safe spot there. On Kane Bayle there's often 2-4 people wanting this camp and mind you that this is one of the least populated servers in EQ. Sometimes a group decides that they want my spot if I'm there.

Anyone who wants to steal my quadding spot- an area barely big enough to cast snare- will get a tell from me about it. If they decide that they want to shove, I can quad there as if the group doesn't exist. Generally I'm polite about it and offer alternatives. About 20 deaths have occured so far, all preceded by someone pointedly telling me that they are going to take my spot, and to leave. I got 2 levels in 1 day doing this, nice spot.

All this goes to say that expansion after expansion, Verant can't to ameliorate intra zone crowding problems for soloers. By this expansion they only have 11 of these highly contested fellows up for grabs. That makes no sense, imo. I suppose it's one way to try to shaft quadders. Raptors tops at 2 people, Cobalt Scar generally at 3, spirocs at about 4.

When is verant going to wake up and treat quadding as just a valid playstyle as any, and stave off the crowding issues? It's not as if quadders outperform optimal group XPs. I know that 55% of the player base hates quadders, but imo it's among the hardest ways to xp... Especially with mobs in POP that can now randomly be immune to snare.

Hmm...

I might not be following your line of -thought- /cough but let me say what I -think- you just said.

"I deliberately train people to cause EXP loss. ***** them. I can quad, so I GET TO quad, end of discussion, go elsewhere."

You, sir, are the reason the decent and honorable 90 percent of druids can't catch an even break.

Oh brother do I hope some GM catches you training people who "steal" camps from you someday. Your banning will only IMPROVE this game.

I can see that you are one of the ignorant asses that think you can run people out of their spot just because you think you own the game. Morons like you are what make this game irritable to other gamers. GO READ THE RULES!!!!! Especially the Play Nice rule! It is people like you that should be banished from the game
RE: Stupid Verant
# May 06 2003 at 12:51 PM Rating: Decent
I agree with the first post.. If a druid is in one area quad kiteing, then that is his spot. If a group of people want to come in and try to take his mobs then I dont blame him. I would just keep on quad kiteing and if that group dies from agro then it is that groups fault for trying to steel his mobs. and to make this simple. another words if you see that some one is in an area hunting..THEN GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! Morons. Everyone balls like a baby when a druid trains them..have you ever stopped to think that you are the one being stupid for sitting in his kite area?
These area's for kiteing are put there by Verant for one reason. Can you think of what that reason is? TO KITE IN! so avoid these area's if your going to bring a group in and plot your butts down. Last words of the day...If you cant be as good as a druid and quad kite in these area's THEN STAY OUT OF THEM!!! its that simple folks.

...maybe to avoid the kind of peeps that get "excessivelly interested" in that kind of info???? ;)

Since i'm a trusty person, i'll trust that u'll look into my char info (my my what a surprize) and notice that i own a druid... sooo before u or someone "excessivelly interested" starts flaming this thread, i'll point out that i never quad nor i enjoy solo'ing (kinda odd for a druid, no?), mostly because i created the Druid on a 2nd account to remove the many traveling limitations my Cleric had when guildees needed rezes... or when i needed to go to their camping spots to group up.
Sincerelly i enjoy much more controled situations from the clerical point of view using the root-rot than the very chaotic and potential lethal Quadding. besides i'm in no hurry and the mobs still die while i'm medding between dots and roots ;)

Anyway, someone posted that some of them are DC'able (i'll assume by chanters and NOT by druids), so i was wondering if anyone knew how common are DC'able ones...

There's nuthin wrong in using DC pets if i'm using a lvl 61 chanter to help other guildees get some parchments... and if they complain the DC pet is taking most of the XP... weeell... i remind them that i "should" be getting way way better XP on higher tier planes than helping ungratefull ppl that aren't even high lvl enough to use the spells gotten through those parchments ;)
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 26 2003 at 4:28 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) take a look around..... SoE DOES NOT put so called 'kiting ares' in game, its meerly a fluke if mobs dont path in a certain strip of land or none spawn there. if you can not tell they very much dont like soloers. in PoP zones soloers actually have an xp loss. i dont blame them, they created EQ to be a social game, go out group with people, make friends, take down big mobs, HAVE FUN(it is a game afterall). why would you create a MASSIVE MULTI-PLAYER game if you just wanted people to all play it by themselfs, make a FPS or something, they actually want you to interact with other people. i have a wizzard myself and i had him quad in CS from 49 to 55 and got about 6AA there too. it gets old after awhile tho and borring by youself all the time. i loved quading, it was nice xp and a bit of a rush but obviously the creators of the game would rather have you group, notice all the bonus' they give to grouping lately? CS was nice for a bit but go out and GROUP a bit, even tho its torture as you dont get all so much xp, cause thats what this game is all about, xp, then you get to 65, and 100 aa by yourself, and you burn out on it. xp is slower in groups and with friends but you seem to enjoy the game more.

If SoE is so against soloers, then why are instanced zones useable for soloing being looked into as a possible upcoming feature? Perhaps you should try knowing what you are talking about before you let your fingers run rampant at your keyboard. I understand that grouping is an important aspect to this game, but it is not the only way to play. It's very rare to see a high level necro in group, or a mage, or a beastlord. Part of the reason is people worry that the pet will take their experience, another is people not fully understanding what classes do what. So, it's blantently clear that you can't make everyone group and believe me, SoE knows this.

Hmmmm --- you say that SoE DOES NOT put kiting areas in game -- then you proceed to say how you quaded in CS for 6 lvls and 6 aa's. If CS beach isn't a "kiting area" then I guess I must just be batty. I NEVER see groups on the beach in CS -- all I ever see there are kiters. I spent a level or two in CS myself with my wizard then I went off to greener pastures at the raptors. Since then I have found other spots to quad that are even better. Too bad most wizzies and/or druids I know stop quading at 50 to 55 to group and/or animal charm kite.
Another thing I have to say is that SoE DID NOT make EQ just for groupers. If that were true thy would have made it so you needed 3 or more players grouped to get ANY experience. Not everyone enjoys grouping either. Don't get me wrong, I can have a ton of fun in a group for a few hours and I do believe that grouping is a sizeable portion of the fun factor in EQ, however I also believe that soloing is where you get your skills at. Too many times I have seen a group get wiped by a situation that should have been easily handled.
Also you have to realize not everyone can devote the time to a group effort. I have a 4 year old son that requires alot of time from me -- I enjoy soloing because I don't ever have to hold the group back while I go AFK to figure out what he put in his mouth or why his head is stuck in the couch. While soloing i am never more than 30 seconds away from getting up and going to see what he's doing. IMO there is nothing worse than the group member that goes afk every 10 minutes for whatever reason.
Heh, sorry for the long flame but i feel strongly about this one fact -- don't knock people for playing the way they like to play until you pay their subscription fees -- after all it may just be that they are soloing because of people like yourself not knowing their roles in group.

Ever tried grouping as a necro?
Let me put it this way:
LFG on 2 days, total of 4 hours each day
Number of tells: 0
Number of ways a necro that doesn't have his group-beneficiary spells can assist the group versus another shammy / chanter / cleric: 0

I like to solo. If I didn't like to solo, then I'd still be level 1.
Sure, necroes have great dp6s. But many people overlook that fact.

Non-casting pure melee mob. Hits for max 161 or something on me (about 1050AC). All dark blue at lvl 60. Single pull at lvl 60.

Not very magic resistant, slows land well most of the times.
Not poison resistant at all, not even one single resist on poison dot (bane of nife).
Not very cold resistant, JBB hits for full mostly, though not always.
Slightly disease resistant (it's the Plane of Disease after all).
No clue bout fire.

Hm, that's odd. I play a 60 wizard and I used pillar of flame on the tsetsi flies all the time, and I never have trouble with it. Every once in a while, one will resist partially, but I've never had one completely resist. Magic, on the other hand, I have some trouble with. When I snare the flies, I usually land it fine, but I'd say about one out of every 8 resists Atoll's (wizard AE snare).
Not tough solo, at all

I can solo these with my 56 Necro. They have less HPs than similar level mobs in other zones, say Luclin ME Goranga Gatherers, and give much much better XP.
Yes I know the planes are ideal for group and stuff, but I don't always have time to group.
Trouble with these is possible adds when pulling.
