ok as a 56 cleric with about 800 ac self buffed... PoV mobs hit me for about 400-500... with NO armor on (corpse run :-/) they hit for for 400-500 so in other words really high lvl tanks r still gonna get hit for the same damage if there BP has 55AC or 33AC so don't worry too much about 20 AC people

So how did you go from really underequipped cleric, to really high end tank?
You realize that your only defense/avoidance skill is dodge, and its capped low?
A TANK has a variety of defensive/avoidance skills, that can help mitigate/avoid hits. Ac helps a LOT, and most highend tanks say its as important, if not MORE important, than HP.
ok, if you only have that for an ac at lvl 56, you need to get off your tush and tank some light blues for a little while(that or seriously re-think your gear scheme)
i know a 52 cleric has close to 1k ac and thanks to his offense, defense, and 1hb being maxed (as well as style of play) there have even been times i can recall that he has finished an LDON mission in the last 10 minutes tanking mobs long enough to root and back off and ensure the casters arent taking hits so they can do their job when the main tank has gone LD!
wis is very important for a cleric but dont let it be the only thing you judge new gear on if you decide to wear it. balance in your char is the key.
Especially with the new gear and weapons (summoned even) that sony gives clerics i mean come on they WANT you to tank/melee!
now before this starts a flame, keep in mind that this is excluding major raids or raid mobs. clerics first priority is always healing. but if you are at 56 then you should be grouping with folks that know how to manage aggro and give you the chance to get up off your butt and swing that summoned hammer! with KEI you should be just fine on the mana pool as long as you tell those nuke happy wizzies they get no heals if they pull aggro off the main tank /grin *thinks that will learn em*
as always there are times that are inappropriate for the cleric to be doing anything other then healing or sitting. but ive found for the most part that a cleric can add that extra umph to the dps that can make the differance between ordinary and extra-ordinary....... or between a corpse run and a long breather.
lastly, remember those long cleric stuns = less damage the mob deals, keep a mob stuned for two rounds, thats one less complete heal you have to cast if hes quad hittin for 400-500.
as far as this bp goes, its twice what this cleric is wearin, and self buffed hes pushin 1k ac with 3k hp at lvl 52.
What a stupid post. AC helps mitigate damage. And that raw AC continues to raise as you level. HP's are the most important for tanks, but low AC does mean you're going to get hit for more, more often. Those lesser hits that are not 500+ are the ones that your armor is mitigating.
