Very nice item, one of those "wish list" blades that I will probably never get. Having not researched this yet, I'm certain it will take a raid "army" to attain. Then you will probably have to win the roll against thirty other players....heh. This game seems to be going in the direction of the "super" guilds, and I am not sure I like that direction.

Every guild does loot different. Some use loot officers, and they assign gear on need basis, some use assigned value and those with the earned points roll against others that have enough points. While some use closed bidding and highest bid wins.

Guilds that can reach this level of play usually are geared up anyways, and no dumb rangers or warriors will bid on this.

This weapon should always go to paladins and Sks first, much like the sword of emp ssra. While the blade of war should always go to all warriors first.

#Sigoniax, Posted: Apr 29 2003 at 9:51 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The proc on this weapon makes it less appealing for a paladin/Sk. This would be a rockin weapon for anything but a raid. Don't get me wrong, this is I believe the highest damaging weapon in the game..correct me if I'm wrong. But the Rune proc aggros too much for a non-MA. That's just my opinion though.

how many times must it be said that guilds who can get this high DO NOT ROLL!!!!! items are awarded by a loot officer...

In some guilds, everyone who has the points required for the item sends the officer a tell and then they roll out of those. Just one of the ways of doing DKP.

Yes, you are right, some guilds do award items that way.....but some still roll. The better guilds will award according to need, or guild points - a fine system. I guess my main gripe is the fact that the game is going toward super guilds for the very good loot. I am not sure I like that. Just to be consdered for these guilds you have to usually be 60 plus, which my main is, then have a very high number of AA points. And that is just to be considered for these guilds....the qualifications do not automatically get you in. I am a member of a small guild made up of various levels, I feel a loyalty to them, as I have been with these people for a while. I would sure like to see the game throw a bone to some of the smaller guilds who have a few, and not an army, of higher level characters.

This is an item that would never be rolled on in the type of guilds capable of getting to this zone and taking out the mob that drops it. The only exception would be once everyone has an item of equal or greater quality. At the high end of the game, most items that are no drop are merited, with a few guilds still using some sort of point system. Points systems, however, are not in wide use generally because they are a major headache to administrate. It's also very time consuming to do the auctions for items and most raids are very quick at the high end due to time constraints or to deal with the fcfs environment.

The reasoning behind making this gear so hard to obtain is so that it is only obtained by those that are going to need it against the highest level mobs. If it was in wide distribution, it would overpower the game at the lower end completely.

peace,

Then you should be pleased with Legends of Ykesha, as the new zones are geared towards levels 35-60... nothing you'll need an "uber" guild for.

Let's just hope they're not as laggy as the Luclin zones... yay for the small clip plane option.

unfortunatley, anything in the new zones worth having will be farmed by the high end guilds and when anyone who is actually within the level range of the zone tries to do anything, they will be told how weak they are and forced out :(

Nah. LoY zones are abysmally boring for the "ueberest" people and yard trash named in the elemental planes drop very droolworthy items. Except for charms, which only a few have the iron stubbornness for, LoY will mostly be a lower level expansion.

doubtful. the uberest guilds, which will probably just be getting into Plane of Time when Ykehsa releases (getting past the rathe ring in PoEB looks like an interesting challenge), will be sweating their asses off to not only clear and farm it, but to keep the other guilds on the server OUT of it. i imagine they'll do a little exploring of Ykesha, but farm it? Hah. VI has better sense than to release items in zones for lvl 50-60 that are better than items in zones for lvl 65. That would defeat their time-put-into-game vs. reward agenda.
