I don't really understand why anyone seriously delves into this 'item belongs to so and so' discussion. The fact is, whether you like it or not, alot of guilds capable of doing these mobs deem certain items as melee priorities, others as caster priorities. Does it mean a shaman will never get an item that is favored to be given to a warrior? No, but it means that usually they'll have to wait in line.

Does this item belong to a certain class? On it's face, not really. Does it belong to a certain sect of classes? No, not really. Many guilds do give priority to certain classes, I happen to be in one that does mobs of this caliber and we do give priority to certain classes or a sect of classes (i.e. Melee, Hybrids and Casters). Does anybody get screwed by this? No, not at all. Because it ensures that when items drop that best suit a certain class, they are doled out to someone in that class/sect. So, everyone gets the same, fair treatment.

As for an item 'starting alot of fights', this is also untrue. In a high end guild of responsible players, we don't fight for anything. In fact, we're quite glad to see our guildmates get new items and better their gear. Every person that gets something is congratulated and their guildmates are genuinely happy for them.

Some guilds use point systems, whereas if you've got the points, you can get the item regardless of your class. Nobody at the high end game is going to /random 200 300 though, I assure you. If not a point system, you will send a tell to the lotto master, they will put your name in the lotto and assign you a number, if 13 people go in for the item, they'll roll 1 to 13, if they roll a 13, whoever was listed at 13 just won a nifty new trinket. T'aint brain surgery.

As for this item, it's a very nice item for a multitude of players. Has a little something for everything and the bonus of Ultravision for we night blind types is quite nice, and see invis is a dandy thing to have as well. As a previous post stated, some will pass, they'll already have better, some will need better. But if a guild says they want to equip their hybrids with this first, well, that's where reality's at. Nothing to whine about.

I'm a Monk, as a Monk, this item would be a nice upgrade from my current neck piece. But this isn't a Monk item, per se. It's just another nice item dropped from a tough mob that you'll never have a chance to kill if you spend too much time here arguing about who gets what.

And for the record, if no one posts saying 'Monk item!' where's the logic in saying things like 'NOT A MONK item!'. Just further contributes to rhetoric everyone complains about. Mostly, the people that do this probably aren't even really Monks. They just like to get under someone's skin.

Can't we all just get along? :p

Nice to see that not everyone whines and cries about an item being "monk" or "druid" or whatever only. Antiochus you are bang on. Its a great item for alot of different classes, and if you are in a guild capable of obtain an item of this calibre chances are there wont be whiners in the lot.....would of most likely have been /guildremoved sometime in the past. I for one love when guildies get a great item, whether it be by /random or just, it was their turn to loot that specific item. The other night I gave an FBSS to a guildie after I won the roll. Smart or not, was my choice to make, and he was happy that he got the item. Just remember all, when you complain or whine about who should get an item, you are talking about something that doesnt really exist, getting into fights with others over an item you can never really own is juevenile.
#DarkdirkCauldronborne, Posted: Sep 12 2002 at 8:14 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Dude, how the hell is assigning 13 people a number 1-13, then rolling 1-13 and handing the item to the person who's number was picked any different from having those 13 people roll 1-1000? All it seems like to me is more complicated.

this is simplier, just becoz if 13 people each /random 1 1000, there will be

1) same roll outcome from maybe more than one person, and then u have to re-roll for those person if they are both highest
2) miss roll becoz of distance, lag, whatever, that some of the participants can't see ALL of the roll outcomes

assigning number is easy, just base on the order the people sent tell to loot master. after that, the loot master HAS to annouce the list, and then just roll once to determine the outcome

Not a bad idea at all, but I like the risk factor it takes to win by rollin yourself...maybe next time I'll try the other route though...it'll make it a lil different for once and we'll see how it works out. I've lead several raids that basically one person was scoring loots due to really high luck on rolls and everyone else seemed a lil bitter. But, it's all on how the dice falls...
