ItemAfter some of the ppl in customer service I've dealt with, i shouldn't have to listen to VI recomend the lvl of item to use. In some fantasy novel the hero doesn't get the super duper uber sword that shoots fireballs, only to find a note on it saying," sorry bucko , lvl up some more and then you can kill the dragon and get the dumb blonde." I understand they're trying to stop a lvl one from having 10000000ac and crap, but for the difficulty to get some of these items, you not gonna see a lvl 10 go with a group to kill the sleepers warders to get some primal weapons.

In most fantasy stories, the hero doesnt -get- the uber weapon unless he first slays the dragon...and in the ones where the dude gets the uber weapon beforehand, he rarely uses its 'true' power till the end of the story. Recommended Level is probably the most humane way VI could try and stop twinking.

As far as i understand it, the Recommended flagging doesnt prevent lvl 1's from using the items. The item stats will just have penalties on it, until the wearer/wielder reaches the recommended level.

no it doesnt make any sense. attacking twinking is attacking a play style, something that isnt even a problem with the game, mearly the way some players percieve others. the only valid reason to no drop tag or in any way level limit an item is if the method of aquiring it also requires those traits. looting a corpse doesnt require you be level 51.
I dont mind that items scale based on level, but have you seen the scaling? How can a level 1 warrior be better using a rusty sword than a real one? The fact is, a fine quality weapon is EASYER TO USE than a lower quality weapon. The ability of a weapon to go through armor like buter is not diminished because you swing it like a bat either. At best, they should be scaling items to 75% of their stats, not to 1 minimum.
also as a note, in some cases recommended levels are actually prohibiting people from equipping gear. (ie you get the your class/race/diety cannot equip this item message)

I don't agree, and yes I have twinked. Its not a style of gameplay. As any server gets older & more populated and all these level 5 characters are running around with 500hp and 300ac, the competative balance is a disrupted. It is an unfair advantage to those who are actually new to the game, or those who have alts and dont twink. It's no different to me than a level 60 siting in the middle of a zone healing, buffing and DS'ing a guild mates new alt and dragging everthing within a 10 mile radius to him so he can kill it. It ruins aspects of the game, makes it less fun, and in general makes people not like you. And as I said before, I have twinked alts, and found it to be unfulfilling when it all came so easy. just my 2 cp. /e Flame Shield Activated

it makes alot of sense..think of it this way..sure you get a hold of this uber wep or piece of armor BUT at level 1 or so do you REALLY know how to use or equip that wep properly..no you dont your still just a mud grubbin squire in training..as you train and gain skill, the item becomes more apparent and usefull..same thing basically..as you go up in level the stats on these items raise because your have more knowledge of its uses.
though it is really just an anti twink code really,it still makes things more realistic
