The item lore is wrong. In melee the dummies do fight back. Dunno if they'll kill me. I quit when they get me to 50%.

Last I checked, Qela was the newest/highest model. (Paza and Qela are Level 95.)
I use a Combat Dummy's riposte to chip away at my HP for practicing Bind Wounds.
And yes, many of my characters have died to a double riposte.
