would be a good battle cleric item... they get root, but t root back up full heal. and go back in makes them almost more scary then a pally.
Bards can use it

Ugg some people have no clue.. As to the people who say this is useless for Bard.. Get a clue. Even though it is combat and Bard have only 2hb(1) this weapon will still proc for a Bard.. You can proc on a miss and your attack rating or attack speed have nothing to do with proc rate.. It has been proven at the SteelWarriors that proc rate is independant and with a 305DEX you will proc 2 times per minute regardless of skill..

So this weapon is useful for Bards.. But at level 49 (when it procs) I don't see many Bards wanting to stand toe to toe with a mob for it to proc when we can just run away and chant..

Better than taunt

This weapon is darn near godly in the hands of a warrior who has trouble gaining taunt from those stun casting pallies and SK's. Once the root takes effect the mob will hit whoever is closest to it. Think of it as 100% aggro all the time, soon as it procs just get belly to belly with the mob and NOONE is taking taunt from you, then if your alomost going to die just step back and the next closest person has the mobs attention. Nice ratio too and it procs 5-8 times per fight on average. There are many other uses for this weapon too, ghetto mezzing adds comes to mind. Well worth paying 35k for it and best of all its all/all
Proc Level ?

I know the effect is a High level spell (my 54 necro uses PE to Plant a mob when needed)So that said I am really curious as to what level this thing will Proc.My thinking here is that the spell is of such a high level that the proc is probably also.PE(effect) is very reliable as a great root.I use mainly to stack Dots on the mob before allowing pet to engage. However, this weapon is of particular intrest to me as I also play a Beastlord. This may be the only way for a BL to be able to plant a mob. This weapon alone would make training up 2hb a must for me.Well if anyone has any real first hand knowledge of when it procs(if even if your high level)please let me know. Thanks

BLs never get any root/snare spell. I've been using balls of yarn from stonebrunt quest to snare when I need. Would be nice to have for both dmg and proc. It's on my most wanted list hehe.

Seeing this as a 54 shaman who still melees a bit makes me drool--its about 20% better than the fungus coated tarmok staff which i have now--not even counting the proc. Im sure its fairly hard to get given its ratio, but I'll be leaving the hornets nest in BW to get one of these soon. For those who dont think a shaman can still melee dark blue mobs at this level, come partner with me sometime on Luclin server...you will be a bit suprised. Anyway a nice weapon to whoever gets it.

What're you smokin', cuz I sure want some...

If you don't have 2hb skill.. get some, cuz if the weapon used 2hb, the weap will go off you're TWO-Hand Blunt skill... if it didn't, you could dual wield with it.

Can anyone verify that this is a TRIGGERED spell and not a melee proc? if it is triggered, this is a mages WET DREAM! Everyone knows we got jipped out of the root line of spells, using our earth pet's 10-second root that doesn't stick as an excuse.

Bards can use a few 2h weapons, they just don't get the skill. So while a bard can use this, he wouldn't have any skill in 2hb and it would be useless.

Ummmm... you never played a bard did you? This weapon would be very useful to any bard. IF it truly is a triggered effect bards could dots kill mobs like other casters. It would be very nice to root and twist 3 dots on a mob that total about 100 hp a tick. Even if I have no 2hb skill as a bard the effect is enough for me to want this weapon for its right clickable effect.

It's a proc, not a clickable effect. Since it can't be clicked and bards have no 2 handed abilities, it's a waste to let a bard get this weapon. Indeed, the shovel should almost always go to paladins and SK's IMO: Warriors and rangers hardly ever use 2 handers, and 50+ casters and healers shouldn't be out there beating on mobs unless they're stupid or suicidal.

Warrior's never use 2handers? Where do ya get that idea?

Dual Wielding is excellent for getting taunt, but with the damage bonus, most 2handers will outdamage even a very good dual wield combo.

Any not MT warrior should be using a higher damage, lower aggro 2hander

Even in most of my exp groups I can keep Aggro with a good 2hander, and if root sticks, I just stand super close while others back up a bit to keep aggro.

Why does everyone always forget about Monks? :P

This would be an awesome stick for a monk. Looks like a better weapon that the Tranquil staff to me.. 4.5wt compared to 10 weight, I'll take some ratio hits to save 5.5 weight.

Ok, I've seen people use shovels before, and they always hit things with the stick end...

C'mon... I wanna whack the mob with that big metal digging part and hear that *CLUNK* sound like when I hit suits of Sentient armor or other metal mobs...

If only Verant put a little more thought and creativity into the items as some of the players can come up with...

I'm all for that. In fact, I think ALL two-handed blunt weapons should have the old "over-the-shoulder" swing the two-handed slashers did.

I guess I'll just have to settle for a Guard's Mallet ... I luv seeing people club mobs with that.

There's a lot of ghetto all/all 2hb. Mage summoned staves come to mind. As far as I know, all 2hb shovels are all/all. The idea being, come on, how much skill does it take to whack someone over the head with a shovel?

It apparently takes more skill to whack someone over the head with a shovel than any character in norrath possesses. None of them can figure out how to do it, so they just whack stuff with the stick end instead.

Hey ... this isn't a bad monk item. Nice ratio and reasonable weight. The effect could cause some trouble.

Now all ye need are some stupid battle cries:

"I will dig your grave! Mwahahahah!"

"I shall Club you wit the Ace of Spades!"

"Shovel off your driveway for a dollar, mister?"

Oh-kay ... I'm done ^_^
