u said u would never go on a raid unless u could loot. and that u need the pp for spells. why dont u try to get into a good raid guild. most good raidguilds have most all high level spells stocked up for the members who need it and not only that but the items that are droping are much better then anything naggy could possible drop. just a friendly suggestion from a friend of all who play eq or eq2 peace love happiness.
Minimum Level?
# Mar 14 2005 at 12:18 AM Rating: Decent
OK May be a stupid question but, ... what level does the Haste Effect kick in? 45? Just picked this up for my Rogue and love it, but dont "feel" a difference in attack speed.
RE: Minimum Level?
# Feb 16 2006 at 1:15 PM Rating: Decent
not sure if this is still the case but... the level required for the haste effect is the same as the haste %.. so runed bolster belt would be 31...

I got one of these last night on a vox raid 12-03-03

four of them dropped, thats right four. And the paladin epic. Ultra rare, yet 4 dropped? WTF
RE: Vox Raid Last night

Its not a rare drop, its rare in the sense that u can only get them once a week from a raid event. 4 droping is rare however.

31% haste
# Sep 17 2003 at 3:40 PM Rating: Decent
this belt has 31% haste according to lucy and magelo. I say it's a better buy than the broken drivebelt which has 34% haste due to the fact that it's stats have no recommended level and it has better stats. Great belt, highly recommend it.

The 36% haste items are Cloak of flames, cloak of crystalline waters, cowl of mortality, and custom cowl of moratlity.

Might be some no drop ones, but those are the ones you'll see in the bazaar.
Raiding for haste
# Aug 03 2003 at 10:33 AM Rating: Default
If you are after this drop on a Naggy raid, <<novel thought>> go on a guild NBG (Need Before Greed) raid and not just a <</shout need help with naggy 45-52 PST>> raid. I have found that my guild tends to be pretty conservative about rolling and allowing rolling. I (a pal44) have never rolled on a FT item that a caster has wanted--there was a FT2 item that i lost a roll to another paladin on that no caster/healer wanted. NO caster or healer has ever been allwed to roll on a haste item. Maybe play to have fun instead of for just <<k331 l33+>>?

**** that... i never go on a need before greed raid unless im there to loot something specific... as a 58 chanter, i would roll on this and i would make sure that i could before i went... who cares if i couldn't use it... i could damn sure use the money to buy my expensive *** spells and gear... the way i look at it is unless it's no drop im rolling on it... and for those of you who say that's greedy, well i say it's pretty greedy of you to tell me i cant roll...

By your own arguement dessimus, I would love to be in your group when a rogue wins the roll on a glyphed rune word when you're still trying to scratch up 80k to buy Voice of Quellious and Vallion's Quickening. My guess is you would be screaming NBG in that case. But hey, at least you might be able to sell the haste item you deprived a melee class of a few levels earlier.

Do the work, get to 65 and grind out about 100 aa's. Then farming stuff becomes quite easy and you won't have to ***** another player out of an item they would actually use.

There are 2 opposing and valid points of view. If you are with your guild - then NBG is sensible since what helps your friends will harm your enemies and help you (in the long run). However, if you are on a pickup raid - then yes people should roll on all drops - esp on a raid like this. Why else would casters want to come? XP in raids is not good, and the Dragons (well Naggy & Vox) do not drop very much caster gear - and that gear is no where near the quality of the fighter gear.
As for all roll on all - yes it can be harsh to watch class xyz get the item you wanted - but in the long run it may be more equitable.

Hybrids are melee, that's why they're called "hybrids" - they both melee and cast spells. Just about any hybrid would kill for an RBB.

#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 11 2003 at 6:10 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Does it really matter who the gets the item? If some caster gets it MAYBE he or she has an alt melee and would really want it for him or her? I have a 52 druid as a main.. and participate in Vox and Naggy raids as much as i can!! I have an alt warrior at lvl 30 and i am trying to get the RBB to use for him... from my point of view alot of people have casters as mains and melee as alts.. casters make more money hands down so they can support melee's better.. just ease up a little when some caster wins RBB.. its not the end of the world
Druids

Guess what? I'm a druid, and sin of sins I solo. I personally keep all my combat skills up every lvl, off, def, 1hs, 1hb, 2hb. And guess what? I don't just root/snare/dot, rinse repeat. I actually *gasp* get in there and MELEE! Yes it's true. I'm lvl 39 and enjoy soloing about 50% of the time at least. Almost every haste item is for melee classes exclusively. So what's wrong with the occasional haste item going to a *gasp* non-melee class? I would love to find a haste item. Flame away, been to lots of pages and I've seen how everyone seems to think that druids are worthless for anything other than ports and buffing newbies/lowbies that are just starting out.

I have a 54 druid, and can assure you that druids have their uses. However, meleeing isn't one of them. Your weapon skills cap so low, and your offense and defense skills are capped, making meleeing rather pointless.

Perhaps you enjoy doing it, and it is nice to keep defense capped, thru a little meleeing while soloing. However, your damage output from meleeing is going to be minimal, and therefore having a haste belt is a waste. You'll kill the mobs faster just sitting back and casting some dots, then going in and meleeing with whatever weapon you have handy, just to up your defense.

I honestly cannot think of many classes that need melee haste LESS than a druid, except perhaps the pure int casters, and i'd really call that a tie.

Druids dont need haste items? Im a chanter i dont need a haste item when i get board and wana swing the malet i own a bit i give my self haste and c the 200-500 dmg i do in a fight. pretty worthless but fun all the same. It gets boring just casting some times its fun to get in there and hit. Druids cant cast haste so i guessing that a haste item would be nice. NTM Druids are great healers in the new zones ,if we doing a slaughter or collection which is what most want cause of ease and drops, but they do way more dmg then cleric and keep up heals just fine. so i would prefer a druid

I have one on my main a ranger currently... but as soon as I get a better haste item for him it is going to my bard... BTW Bard Haste Stacks With Item Haste so quit whining he won the roll. End of story.
RE: Vox gone bad
# Apr 27 2003 at 8:57 PM Rating: Default
(quit whining)...

no doubt! he won the roll! maybe he just wants to sell it for 40,000 plat (going rate on Quellious server). it doesn't matter what he uses it for... he won the roll.

he helped in the raid to take down the mob just like everyone else did. he's entitled to share in the loot, regardless of whether someone thinks he is the one that can get the "best usage" out of it.

now, if the item were NO DROP and unusable by the person rolling, that would be a different story.

Exactly, i got this of Sev the other day, i won the roll by 1 point (how close??). Anyways I went to try and sell it since I could use the profits to upgrade a hell of a lot of armour, or alternatively i could just have a 30+ haste item?

Obviously i went for the upgrades and peeps who were there when it dropped saw me selling it and started to flame my BL in tells. I told them about it being used to buy upgrades, and not caring what they thought. Anyways managed to get Storm rider leggings, Earring of Tempests, Valorium rings x2 and 6K towards my new waning Light Katar. Tell me all that isnt worth selling an RBB??

Gratz to all those who do get this though

Hhmmmm, this sounds like the Sev kill where my lvl 57 warrior at the time, now 60, and still wearing a Silvery Belt of Contention because I can't afford better, lost the RBB to a BL that beat my roll by one point. The BL then turned around and had it up for sale within minutes, even though the raid leader had said that only those that actually needed and were going to use were to roll. That is the reason you got flamed in tells.

Sounds to me like the BL had a need and a use for that belt, and used the belt to fulfill his need.

Just because his needs and uses aren't the same as yours doesn't negate his needs or his uses.

If the belt were NO DROP and it just sat in his bank, I could buy your argument, in that he really has no great need.

#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 03 2003 at 5:22 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ok my 2cp to you I group with alot of "battle clerics" a priest class and with a parser they are doing more damage per second (this is including there proc) then our main tank in groups so if you can use the haste to do damage you get in on the roll imo. as far as problems with your server and guilds that play on that server say it to them not to the rest of us that really dont care about your petty BS.
RE: Noobz
# Apr 03 2003 at 6:46 PM Rating: Decent
Um, if your guild is doing dragons to get dragon haste, there is no way your clerics will out-damage a melee class. We're not talking level 5 and 6 here, sonny.

Lead your own raids, make your own descisions about who loots what and enjoy the game.
Just do this..
Start your chat channel before you go kill mr_big_mean_dragon_01 explain who is allowed to loot role on what according to whomever is running the raid. Then everyone that attends will understand the rules of the raid, and the petty ******** can stop. Where it should have. In the game, not on the Allakhazam message boards.

Read the below posts, note the word "melle". Check Webster's dictionary for such words. No such word can be found within it, be it a program, or a book. Well, there happens to be this little word, melee. And try, just try, spelling everything out. When you can't, you will see that your intellect is about the same as those of your "melle" character. After actually reading through quite a few of these pages, on many topics, I have found that people don't know how to spell, then go off and take the spelling from some 4th grader, who has no idea of the structure of the English language. Take care. Most posts that are around that actually use sentences, spell correctly, and concisely convey their point, have good-excellent ratings, provided of course on the accuracy of information, and whether or not it is a controversial issue.
My second point to make here, is that people should make a point, not flame. If you wish it be that all melee types only get the belt say so, don't go into hypocrisy, as most items do, eventually, get sold. I'm for seeing both points of view. I can see where the divine/arcane/melee division, hereby referred to as "the division", leads, and it detracts from the game. People here don't realize that you can, in fact, have multiple views. I can see the pros of having open rolls on all non no-drop class specific items, but I can also see the cons. Example one: The Runed Bolster Belt, hereby referred to as "the belt", does sell for more than Torbin's Mystical Eyepatch, hereby referred to as "the eyepatch", and is therefore more use to all classes, as one could simply sell the belt, and use the accrued value to purchase both the eyepatch, and another item. This effect is more economical, and "fair" in a sense, but gives less chance for a melee type to acquire the belt. The other view I see is that neither the belt, or the eyepatch, would have any applicable use to the other class. Why allow a useful object to one who would make little to no use out of it? This is another "fair" method, yet not economical.
But therein lies the problem. What form of compensation should be given to a large group of melee classes if the eyepatch does in fact drop in the multiplicative? Such would favor a single class-set, and therefore be neither fair, nor economical. Contrariwise, the problems with the other solution are, in their own way, just as obvious. The "more deserving" class-set has a less probability of acquiring the item, of which they were the intended end-user.
The thoughts of both groups, were there any, could, possibly, be something along the lines of: If I were to get this, I would be more able to help the group, should it be a multiple exploit society.
Both ways are, in application, flawed. The right directive applies to the right situation. For non-no-drop items, one should look at the group involved. Is it a guild? Is it a one-time group? Was this just for a specific item? Was that item dropped? For non-guild, non-specific items (items like epic pieces, when the group's point was to get them), it would, undoubtedly, be best to use the philosophy of everyone gets a chance, as they all participated. For guild raids, it would be best to go on use. For no-drops, based on class. And, lastly, for specific items, for the creator of the raid, who should be excluded from other rolls.

Wow, watch out! this guy knows how to use spelling and grammar check in MS Word! Oh.. Melee is the actual spelling of the word. It is pronounced "mey-ley" as well if you were wondering. In my honest opinion, this Fistandantlus guy can get off his high horse and stop ******** so much. I think I read 3 sentences and then decided to post this so bugger off if you ever read this reply. Some people take games and especally this one way to serious.. I just got a "RBB" today on a pick up vox raid, actually the raid was being run by a prominent guild on the server. They clearly said NBG raid, I had a 20HP belt on. I was allowed to roll on this belt, I won. A few monks were inspecting me, probably furious.. but I won.
