The Articles on Holding
- Garik Nogflop the
Collector

Bags, mere bags they call
them! Articles of infinite
possibility! Yes, yes...
They are all crazy,
miscreants, fools,
scoundrels all of them!
Always hording and filling
their pockets with stolen
goods, but where is their
appreciation FOR their
pockets? Where is the
adoration for the chests,
the satchels, the
haversacks and purses that
make all of this possible?
These simple creatures
adorn themselves in all
manner of garish attire but
wallow through the fields
toting miserable handbags,

packs, boxes, trunks and
carryalls not fit for a
gnoll! How better than them
am I, I who knows of
Abu-Kar's genius or
Kavruul's tenacity! Of
Nocnivin's lineage, and of
tinkerers and master
arcanists who have worked
to perfect the art of
holding.

...You find that the next
several pages appear to be
the scribbling of a
mad-man...

Tailors! Tailoring yes,
tailors, artisans working
looms to craft great
things! From my studies I
have found the following to
be an appropriate
application of the
leathery-arts.

A pattern is obviously
required, and then a fine
bit of leather to craft the
container from.

A poor sample of leather
would suffice, but the idea
seems abhorrent, a desire
to create a less than
perfect container seems
like a self-inflicted
torment.

Whatever quality of leather
is chosen, an equal quality

of silk must be used to do
the stitching. Two parts
silk are woven into
increasing qualities of
filament to construct the
ideal material.

For the highest quality
bags you must also work a
bit of dream dust into the
leather to expand its
carrying capacity and
improve its strength.

I've seen many a tailor go
mad... mad... crazy...
Fools trying to create
legendary bags, the skill
required is immense... be
warned anyone foolhardy
enough to try and craft
one... failure will be your
close companion!

...There appear to be
several pages torn out of
the book at this point...

Colors! A rainbow of
possibility! To think
dyeing is such a simple
process, but only
applicable to packs, both
held and back-worn, but of
course you can't paint them
in their unexpanded form.
An impossible task it
appears to be to apply dyes
to my other beloved
companion containers...

Lest I forget, the spectrum
of applicable dyes for my
beloved packs are the same
that were used to dye those
hideous trader's satchels,
though the originator of
those paints seems to be
somewhat color-blind. What
he considered blue might as
well have been black, and
to think he thought purple
was pink! No, true purple
is blue and light grey, and
pink can be derived from
red, yellow and a bit of
lye.

... The last several pages
appear to be a love letter
written to a knap-sack...

Despite the general
insanity, you feel like you
would benefit by scribing
these bag schematics to
memory.

Question please.

I scribed a tailor recipe once and could not find where it went once I scribed it. How do I find it after I scribe it.

It did not show up in my sewing kit.

Thank ye kindly.

Do you remember what the recipe or the book was ? Sometimes the recipe has a (slightly) different name from the item it produces.

Thank you for answering so quickly.

It was a cultural recipe.

Then the recipe might show only in your racial sewing kit, not a regular one.

I have gained 3-4 skill ups in tailoring (301-350) when scribing this book on various toons. On the last one, I did combines till I gained a skill up, then scribed the book, then did more combines. Since it is 16 combines per skill up, and I gained 3 skill ups, and got another skill up on the very next recipe, I concluded the book gave me 63 new recipes

Fixed, thanks! Actually 171 recipes are scribed from this book :
- 9 non trivial unexpanded bag recipes ;
- 54 non trivial basic bag recipes : 9 bags (backpack, bag, belt pouch ...) * 6 silks (crude, excellent, fantastic ...) ;
- 108 trivial colored bag recipes : 2 bags (backpack, pack) * 6 silks * 9 colors.
Which shows by the way that only non trivial recipes scribed from a book count for 301-350 progression.
