On the progression servers (Ragefire/Lockjaw) these give experience, gold, decent faction, and various small tattered gear.

For a single character, giving 30 belts to Canloe takes you from 0%, to 5% in to level 5.

For a group of two (both starting at 0% experience) in which each turns in 21 belts.will go all the way to Level as well (about 3% in to level 5).

On a level 10 rogue, got about 3% xp per 2 belts turned in. Compared to turning in 2 crushbone sholderpads for 10% per 2. Tho when I first started it seemed way higher but memory is strange, you remember the good as better and the better as great and usually forget the bad all together.

Quest Information

Quest info:
You say, 'Hail, Canloe Nusback'
Canloe Nusback says 'Step forward and speak up, young Kluiana! Kaladim can always use another warrior. Are you [ready to serve Kaladim] or has a yellow streak appeared down your back?'
You say, 'I am ready to serve Kaladim'
Canloe Nusback says 'Then serve you shall. Let your training begin on the battlefields of Faydwer. Seek out and destroy all [Crushbone orcs]. Return their belts to me. I shall also reward you for every two orc legionnaire shoulder pads returned. A warrior great enough to slay one legionnaire shall surely have no problem with another. Go, and let the cleansing of Faydwer begin.'
You say, 'what Crushbone orcs?'
Canloe Nusback says 'The army of the Crushbone orcs is deadly indeed. They are great military strategists. It was a legion of them that brought down the great [Trondle Ogrebane]. Speak with Furtog Ogrebane about the Crushbones. He has need of warriors such as you.'
You say, 'who is trondle ogerbane?'
Canloe Nusback says 'Trondle Ogrebane is the legendary dwarven warrior who single-handedly exterminated the ogre clan called the [Mudtoes]. He was recently killed in battle. It took an entire legion of Crushbone orcs to bring him down. Furtog is still fuming about that.'
You say, 'who are the mudtoes?'
Canloe Nusback says 'The Mudtoes were a small clan of ogres. They lived somewhere in the Butcherblock Mountains. They had an insatiable appetite for dwarves. They were finally destroyed by the hand of Trondle Ogrebane.'

Hand him one crushbone belt

Canloe Nusback says 'Good work, warrior! Now continue with your training. Only on the battlefield can one become a great warrior.'
Your faction standing with Storm Guard got better.
Your faction standing with Kazon Stormhammer got better.
Your faction standing with Miners Guild 249 got better.
Your faction standing with Merchants of Kaladim got better.
Your faction standing with Craknek Warriors got worse.

Specific Experience Stats
# Jun 10 2004 at 9:09 AM Rating: Excellent
At lvl 13, I took 16 crushbone shoulderpads to Kaladim and turned them in.

I am a Dwarven Paladin.

Each shoulderpad gave me 6% exp! (6 blue ticks) I raised almost the entire level off of this.

*Note* the belts, when turned in, give 1% (1 blue tick) at this level.

Gunlok regarded me as Amiable. Just a suggestion. Since so many people do this quest, if there are those of you out there who will post your own results, we can compare differences to determine how quest exp works.

For example, if a lvl 10 paladin Dwarf does it, and gets 9%, that would be good to know.

If a lvl 12 paladin who has poor faction with Gunlok does the quest and gets 2%, that would be VERY good to know.

If a lvl 12 paladin ELF does it and gets 3%, that would be VERY good to know. (racial modifier to exp reward)

If a lvl 12 dwarf FIGHTER does it and gets 12%, that would be good to know (class bonus modifier.)

Be sure and post your Class, Race, Level, and Faction with Gunlok.

It is fairly safe to assume that once the research is done for this quest's experience, the rest of the questing experience for other quests works on exactly the same premise.

(fyi - turning in 4 bone chips at this level/Class/Race/Amiable to Kaladim Pally GM is worth only 1/2%)

Levelling Alts
# Apr 22 2004 at 6:01 PM Rating: Decent
If you are starting an alt out("good" race), and are a class with at least one spell at lvl 1, this quest is excellent. Have a higher level alt or your main farm these belts, or if you are willing to buy the belts at 1p each or 2p per shoulderpads. Keep farming/buying until you have all of your possible inventory filled up(assuming you have space). Once this is done, go to a bank, put two bags full of em into the shared bank slots, log onto your alt, transfer those at kaladim bank, log back on main, shared bank..and so on until all of your belts/shoulderpads are transfered, then turn in the belts/shoulderpads to the Warrior GM in Kaladim A. Once you have turned in all of your belts/shoulderpads, you should have gained about 5-8 levels from level one (depending on how many shoulderpads over belts you have). After you have traded all of your belts/shoulderpads, go to PoK (plane of knowledge) and start casting spells on yourself (low level spells) until you seem to be at a high skill level for your level (in PoK spells do not harm you or other players if harmful, beneficiary spells do work though). If you are not pure caster, you should probably work on some melee skills as well, put ALL of your points gained from leveling into your melee skill of choice (1hb, 1hs, 2hb, 2hs, pierce). If your skill level for your melee skill is not at a level you are comfortable with, go kill newbie level mobs or join a group and get some xp while training your melle skill.

Repeat this process until you are at a level where CB belts and Shoulderpads will not give you much experience (between lvl 10 -12).

good luck.

for ogres
# Apr 09 2004 at 3:17 PM Rating: Decent
For you ogre warriors and evil folk, I was able to complete this quest with 8 full backpacks of belts and pads once I killed enough orcs and goblins and got my faction to dubious so I could enter town. As an ogre warrior level 15 I went to 16.5 and my faction went from dubious to amiable with the Storm Guard. The items and coin were just a sideline at this level.

Extremely Easy Money
# Nov 21 2002 at 4:56 AM Rating: Decent
I don't understand why people would pay 1pp for a belt. I do the quest myself once in a while for faction.

That may be why people pay so much. It's a quick way to raise faction with a few groups.

*shrugs* i'm not sure.

RE: Extremely Easy Money

Another reason why people buy these, is for exp!!! you get massive exp with these and the shoulderpads at low levels. It is a great way to power lvl your toon from lvl 2-10, or higher, but it will take more belts and pads. Just some FYI

Well, here's an example. My level 52 Paladin needs Merchants of Kaladim faction to complete an important quest, and these belts are one of the very few ways that Merchants of Kaladim faction can be raised. So, to me it's worth 1 plat per belt because it saves time in raising faction.

That's one of the problems with the overall quest system. Many time higher level folks need to go back and do quests designed for newbies, and what's worse need to do the same quest many, many times to get the faction needed. My Pally is still working on raising Merchants of Kaladim faction. To do this he has to kill spawns that are also needed by newbies hunting in Crushbone. It's much better for the newbies if he buys some of the belts he needs from them, but it's also bad for the newbies because they lose spawns that are appropriate for their level.

well you could sell these to those who might have massive faction issues... i sold 20 belts and 10 cb pads and scored 45pp...

BTW belts on bertoxx sell usually 10 for 5pp or 1 per 5gp... pads go for 1pp... considering most people just farm CB... go figgy

Oftentimes, the person buying these actually had a high level character with tons of platinum to spare -- they are using these belts as a quick way to PL their twink so they don;t have to find a friend to PL them. hehe.

1pp each is the standard price on Vazaelle.

I don't know why people would just buy a bunch of these and give them to their twink to lvl a whole bunch at once, they would be slapped around by things around their lvl afterwards because their skills would still be lvl 1 at lvl 8 or so. It is better to just collect these yourself and turn them in a backpack or 2 at a time, not try to lvl 5-10 times from these or you'll be a wimp for your lvl. The common rememdy for this is to use most of your training points you get from lvls to put them into skills for more acceptable lvls, but it is better to just raise them up yourself for FREE and not have to use precious training points. I'll never twink people like this for quick lvls, unles it is only 1 or 2 lvls worth.
any faction quests?
# Jun 24 2002 at 5:48 PM Rating: Decent
The only quests listed under crushbone belts are the orc belt quest in misty thicket, and the orc vest quest in freeport. I was told that is a quest involving these belts that will raise my dwarf faction. Can someone please post the npc's name that gives the quest and what zone he is in?

Canloe Nusback in the warrior guild in Kaladim is the guy you want. (You can also buy belts from players for an ave. of 1PP per). He also has a follow up one to the belt quest, when you can kill lego's, get their Crushbone Shoulderpads. (You can also buy pads from players for an ave. of 2PP per). You need to hand them to Canloe 2 at a time. Decent exp up to about 19th lvl for me as a cleric. Cheers!

These are one of the most sought after items in Faydwer mainly because of their unique ability to advance a character extremely rapidly through the first few levels. I had a friend powerleveling me from about levels 1-8. During that time I collected 6 bags of these belts. I turned them all in and I was halfway through level 9 without any effort. Also when you turn them in you get armor from the guy which you can then sell.

What are they good for.
# May 18 2001 at 9:56 AM Rating: Default
I have a question. I've seen then on the aution block for (usually) 1pp. Why would someone pay 1pp for a belt? I checked and there are a couple of quests that involve them, but that doesn't seem to be worth a PP by itself.
Granted I haven't been playing that long and haven't found the secret to making money yet, but what are they good for?
