Large races have the added ability SLAM (incredibly useful since it can interrupt caster spells), why shouldnt there be any down sides? Shrink is not a bug fix, as large races are not a bug; they were intended to have some difficulty in dungeons as well as create a market for shaman potions. Even without shrink, its quite foolish to call this item POS. I can count the number of warrior bracers with 20ac on one hand.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 06 2002 at 7:13 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Slam is an advantage, until the all-balancing kick nulls it. Slam does not balance the fact that zone design was flawed. If anything slam is balance by falling damage or evilness or everyone saying "shrink the fatty!".

i would just like to add that my main is a 46 orge war and todate i could still count the times i have been shrunk on 1 hand. There is no reason you need to be shrunk in any zone that ogre's are native to or would be likly to roam and even tho i am evil by creed i have developed friendships with many of the good races elves, dorfs and such altho gnomes still haven't gotten over my breath yet must have been the gnome burgers i had for lunch but any how, if you want to be the best tank any group could want be ogre war and learn to play it you might just like some of the other bennifits and forget that there are just some things you can't do alone. heck trying to heal with out help is chalange enough, why fret on the fact that you can't bank in faydwar.( still haven't figured that faction out )

First of all.... For those of you who complain about SOL A..... Note to selfs... get higher than level 20... Here is the big all mighty secret to SOL A.. Enter SOl B.. run about 20 steps to window room.. about 4 more steps to zone.. and then go beat *** in Sol A.. all in all you miss seeing about 3 cinder goblins.. and swinign axe trap that is there for looks..... WOW!... learn a Fatty.. then come rant! Slam is good.. Stun kick takes away from it... Stun kicks sucks compared to slam.. but stills take away.. Fatty own all... but learn your race before ya rant..
RE: #1 reason I dislike Verant
# Jun 12 2002 at 6:33 AM Rating: Default
Actually knowing the route to Sol A from Sol B isn't "learning your race", it's learning the world. I pretty well know my race, having played an Ogre since beta p4. I also pretty well know the world, not fully, but pretty well. And I do know Shrink is a design fix. Period. If Verant TRUELY wanted some "roleplay" purpose for chosing the fat route, shrink would never have come about.

other ranting follows...

I disagree about slam though. Slam, from my experience, is the better choice until post 50ish when kick exceeds it both for damage and stun. Slam fails to stun just as much as kick does, and returns much less damage. Therefore slam becomes mute and kick which is all-balancing reigns high.

/balance rant on
Kick = balance, large bonus (Slam, stun w/out shield requirement) is nullified post 50.

255 caps = balance, start stats are nullified, more towards high 50s or 60 due to gear/buffs/AAxp. 255 caps are simply stupid. If a 60 warrior, regardless of race (well maybe less Gnomes :p) can't get 255 stam then something's wrong, or they're not tanking.

Verant is all about balance, which to a point is fair -- but nonetheless stupid as far as caps and racial advantages go -- at end game.
/balance rant off

The only advantage to being a fatty warrior is the no stun on frontal attack. Definitely nice to have.

Rofl Nubb.
I'm snickering at you posts about shrink being a bug fix.

Ok let's take this from another point of view.
Let's say you are Andre the Giant. And you want to walk into a treehouse. Now knowing treehouses usually are not big because they are built for children. So what do you do? You duck and or crawl to get in and basically feel cramped.
How about walking directly inside a car?? It aint gonna happen.

The game was specifically designed when they made large races. Nothing is going to be easy in this game. Cept a level 60 fighting a level <30 creature :) But that's not what's being said here.

I think most people realize, even if you are a "big" race, this bracer is very nice because shrinking yourself, even if not a large race, is both helpful and fun. I used to love being shrunk, even though I play a human, but I have no need for it all the time.

And did someone forget about Vah'shir?
Don't know about you but they have one hell of a time fitting thru doors and they aren't even too tall nor wide. Shrink would help big time (if could be used outside) :)

All in all, this bracer is very good and especially good for raiding when in dungeons.

Have a good day :)

When I created my Troll Shadowknight, I did so realizing it would be a High Difficulty path. My Ogre Warrior was listed as Moderate Difficulty, but, still, I understood there would be some areas that may be tough to go through as a fatty.

I don't see Large races not being able to go to all areas without a shrink potion/item/spell as a bug. To me, it's one of the few things that represent the world as one of fantasy, that can aid in roleplaying. I've read many fantasy books where a certain character couldn't go into a certain area due to size, and even recall a handful of movies where that was the case. Were some of the areas large races can't access an oversight on Verant's part? I don't know. I'd like to think that at least some of those places were by design, as it adds something to the game. What it adds may frustrate many, but I like it.

Also realize that EQ geared towards groups. Verant has made no secret of that fact. My ELF Warrior learned early on that having a shammy in a group was a very good thing, to help offset low-str and low-sta. But, my Elf Warrior has enough gear now to have a STR of 192 and STA of 123. STA still low for a higher-level warrior, but hey---I decided to play an Elf and I knew I would be sacrificing Sta. If I can't find a good group, I can always log on my druid for a bit, or go farm Velious Quest Gems, etc.

With my Ogre Warrior, a shammy may be a necessity should I choose to go certain places, just as someone who can cast invisibilty on me (or the use of a potion, etc.) is a necessity if I choose to go certain places. At times, that will undoubtedly be frustrating, but I knew going in that I'd have some difficulties with an Ogre due to size and faction.

I'm not discounting your frustration. I'm just of the opinion that shrink isn't a bug fix, and I like the fact that large races can't go some places because of their size. I actually wish there were some places only gnomes could go (an inter-sactum of sorts), or how 'bout a floor trigger to open a door that could only be triggered by a large race (or a small/medium race that had the Growth buff on....)?

If my Ogre Warrior can ever get a Cobalt Bracer, he would love it and use it. If he doesn't, that's fine, too. I've made plenty of Shammy friends, and if there's a group going somewhere that my Ogre can't go because of his size and no way to shrink, I'll log in my shaman, druid, elf war, pally, etc. instead, or find a different group and go somewhere else.

My Shammy friend gave my Troll Shadowknight a stack of shrink potions about 8 months ago, and I've only used one potion, and that was by accident (mouse-slippage...). I'm just mentioning that because it is possible to play an unshrunk fatty for over six months and enjoy the game.

Again, I can understand your frustration and appreciate your perspective, but I just wanted to share my perspective. The whole "lemonaide from lemons" thing....

Plz tell me you are kidding. I realize prices differ between servers, and the server I play on - Tunare, is an older server, but 90k?!? SOmeone said a CoF and 2 other items for it? Laf. Im a warrior myself, have sold a few of these from camping Shrooms a lot, and its nothing special. Now I am all about AC. I like saves as well, but im not the type of warrior that has this 'stat' issue. Its definalty nice to have, but worth 20k tops.

I got one of these today on terris thule, i spent all day in EC auctioning it and the best offer i got was 12k. Most people could not believe this is worth over 30k, and all i wanted was 25k! Did this lose its touch or something?

I've passed on several Cobalt Bracers going for 12k. They are not worth it. AC 20 is nice, as is the shrink for a large race. But 12k, and no other stats, hit points or resists? It is nothing but a convenience, and, imho, certainly not worth 12k even.

Oh well, glad I am not having to answer for those decisions.... Whelp blu time to go hunt sebelis my lil troll...

To all you warriors who were wise enough to choose a smaller race for you warrior, ***** this bracer!! I am a 55th Level Dwarven Warrior and I say don't waiste your money on this. Go to PoG and hunt Flux Wolves. 2 full groups can suceed here of 50+ peeps. Loot a Beserker Bracer, which is far more common of a drop then this is. The AC is only 1 less, but you get tons of other stats to make up for 1 ac loss, and who needs shrink when your a elven, dwarven, gnome, or human warrior :)
Just my opinion...please don't start the Oger's rule thread here, this is just some advice for those small guys who cant afford 200,000,000,000pp for 20ac effect shrink.

I have a good friend who is a Dwarven War just like you, and he would kill for one of these.

Ever been in a dungen and needed to make a quick run and got stuck behind a fatty?

Ever try to hit a mob, but you couldn't see it because you were surrounded by fatties?

Ogres and Trolls (barbs?) can seriously mess things up because of their eating habbits. I would think all warriors should try to get this. I know there have been certain situations where fatty has gotten me killed deep within a dungen, a shrink would have been a life saver.

Dwarves cant be shrunk. Neither can gnomes or halflings.

Mid-sized races can be shrunk once.

Large-sized races can be shrunk twice.

So if you're a shorty, the bracer isnt of much use unless you want to cast on others. Still sells well though...

To start with let me say that I do not have this bracer but have seen them used. The effect is targetable and, unlike the shaman spell, you do NOT have to be grouped. I say this because I have seen warriors with this bracer shrink anyone who asked for it regardless of if they were grouped with that person or not. Could someone who actually owns one confirm this belief?

Just attempted a "drive by" shrinking of an iksar warrior, he was not in my group, we where in Thurgardian. The shrink did not work on him. I can shrink in Thurgardian. Group only spell...

Tried on a human with TGB on command, still failed.

Can shrink in GD and POK. so outdoor is now acceptable.

BTW i love this bracer. Barbarian warrior that can shrink group members. Have not tried to shrink a group member pet. Hope i can!!!

This is a very useful item. Being able to fit into any place or being able to shrink during a raid so others are not getting stuck around you is nice. Only draw back is when your shrunk you have to get used to jumping up stairs but gnomies have been doing that all their lives.

This bracer gives options to the warrior and the group. By utlilizing the tools at hand you gain a diffrent method of attack. Ask your mage if he would like to have folks shrunk so he can cast his LOS spells.

Good for you, short stuff but I can't tell you how useful this bracer becomes at raids, when the shaman is too damn busy to waste mana shrinking the ogres and trolls, the warrior can overtake this role regardless of his size and help save mana.

On Druzzil Ro my guild has killed over 500 of the shrooms and zero bracers have dropped. I would say that is rare! Considering the probably 1 in 300 drop rate 100k is very reasonable.

What stinks is most warriors need 2. So IMO they drop rate should be like one in 20. That would still make em hard but not the insane rarity they are. Anyone who comments that these are not worth 100k does not have a clue about the high level game. Though now with ToV they are not worth 100k (maybe 40k) they are still worth a ton. I personally would pay 20k for one for my Troll warrior twink. (He has used about 5k in shink potions getting to lvl 52).

BUT there are Items that are more rare then this and sell for Way less. Im sorry but all shrink does is make you smaller and lower your aggro range. well I would "Trade" up to 40k worth of Items at the most.
