These earrings arent as common as they claim they are and are worth quiet abit more then 88p in baz. On lanys they go for about 200p.
Same as cougar claw earring

Only with STA in place of DEX and without the mana preservation effect. Cougars in Iceclad are lower level than wolves in DSP and are easier to kill. I also see a lot of cougar claw earrings for sale all the time but have yet to see the wolf one anywhere, which means it must be rarer drop. If you're levelling up in DSP, this makes a nice bonus if it drops, otherwiae, if you're just farming for loot or for an ear item, go kill cougars.

i was in DS with a group of 4 lvl 30's, with me being the highest lvl. out tank pulled a reg. wolf and a blood starved wolf and the earring dropped off the blood starved, when i looted i offered a roll for the earring (just to be fair) and luckily i won, so i have a good earring to go along with my orc fang.

What exactly makes the Cougar Claw a better earring? For my pure melee characters I value the STA that this earring provides over the DEX that the cougar claw ear gives. Even if it only adds up to 4 points of stamina, every little bit helps.
As a warrior the STA should be more important due to the HP it provides.

If you are talking about the Mana Preservation I that the Cougar Claw offers, which would be a great help to a hybrid melee - get one of each so you can benefit from the added stats of both and take advantage of the MP I effect. Both can be found in abundance at the Bazaar and are cheap enough to be a solid choice for the ear slots well into the higher levels when you can quest one or get the drop on a raid.

A reply to Taerom, this is better if your stamina is high and your dex is low.

i would take this for the 1 more ac the 4 str and 2 sta with this earing on gego i would get about 10hp at 45... so its more like

ac4
+3str
+10hp earing not to bad for killing pansy mobs...
Dropped
# Sep 16 2002 at 5:47 AM Rating: Decent
I hadn't hunted in DSP in a while and as usual when you zone in there was someone getting ready to zone from a mob. Well this mob was a non-named wolf ... being he was less then half dead I decided to finish off the job , I didn't even know about these earrings , but now my bl is the proud owner of one . I was going to send him a thank you but I figured that was a bad idea .. ;)
Common Drop??
# Aug 01 2002 at 8:55 PM Rating: Decent
I dont think this is common drop, ive been hunting in DSP for almost 3 weeks now and after killing many many wolves, blood starved, regular, and elder and i have seen 3 drop, have 2 lost the other on a roll. I do not think these are Common drop, uncommon at least.

RE: Common Drop??
# Aug 29 2002 at 7:32 AM Rating: Decent
I think, however, it should be rated as a common drop. It is just that they drop of the uncommon named wolves in DSP. Can't recall the names right now though (not the ones mentioned). In two battles, our group looted 2 of these. The price is overrated; compare it with a cougar claw earring which stats are better and sells for around 125pp at Bazaar (on Drinal at least). I sold mine for 90pp.

Actually, mine dropped of "a wolf", not one of the agressive wolves (frenzied, enraged, etc.)

I think 'rare' would be the correct rating for this.
550pp?
# Jun 06 2002 at 5:26 PM Rating: Decent
I just bought one of these for 70pp on Vazaelle... How come the price shown here is so high? Did this item get nerfed and those are the prices from the old stats? Or was someone just giving me an incredible deal? (The one I have is 4AC 3str and 2sta)
RE: 550pp?
# Sep 11 2002 at 1:30 PM Rating: Decent
sold mine some days ago for around 100pp. But if you compare the earring to a cougar claw earring, i'd say the wolf fang earring should be a bit cheaper.
Very rare
# May 19 2002 at 3:07 AM Rating: Decent
I have hunted all manner of wolves here. The normal wolves and blood starved ones rarely drop the Twilight quest stuf, while the named wolves (like feral, viscious, bloody, ect)drop a quest piece all the time of course ye not know which until ye loot it. All these puppies hit hard and have around 1600 hps each. I do know after 2 weeks of soloing these pups, I have seen 3 earrings drop, I have one, the other 2 I lost on rolls when the rare times I was in a group. They are a blast to fight and can reward ye with this earring if ye be patient. Most of all, Have FUN!

# May 19 2002 at 3:17 AM Rating: Decent
Ohh yah, forgot, One Wolfy there is almost all white in color and not remember its name (tribal?) but ye need a magic weapon to hit it and drops a pelt for some quest there. I know most peeps have magic stuf by the level ye be when ye hit this zone but I was warnning yahz of it.

I'll have to parse my logs, but I think it had the word 'prowler' in its name. Tribal Prowler wolf???

I checked this site and haven't found any info on a quest that uses it, but I've got the pelt in the bank. Hopefully, something will turn up.

Just outside the dome to the left side last night, and this item was on a Wolf.

Group threw the dice, and of course, the Wizard won the item (just what he needed of course!)

Glad it was a guildmate of mine..heh.

Anyone have any pricing info to post on this item yet?

# Apr 12 2002 at 4:39 PM Rating: Decent
Was fighting right outside the Neth dome with a small group so we were taking on wolves. Within 4 hours - 5 dropped. No one in the group wanted any of them so I got all 5

Perhaps he did get 5 in one night. I've been in a situation where a friend camped Giants for a solid week to get Forest Loops without getting any, then our group got 4 in 2 hours and I got another later that evening! It happens.

No clue why peeps would give them away, though....

it is possible to get 5 in one night, the randomness of EQ is streaky and perhaps it put an earring on every other wolf or something, not saying thats what happened, but i think it is possible. But have hunted here for almost 3 weeks and seen 3 drop, so i dont know. must be extremely lucky. Just my 2cp.

Later all
Not so common
# Apr 10 2002 at 2:44 PM Rating: Decent
Spent 4 hours killing wolves one night. Not one dropped. Also I'd auction that I was buying one of these, never once did I hear of one dropping or get a telling that someone had one. Must have killed 80-100 wolves/blood starved wolves.

35 is right
# Apr 10 2002 at 12:16 AM Rating: Decent
35 is an appropriate level, for rangers at least. Dawnshroud is one of the best places for Rangers. Killing wolves and zelniaks can easliy level a ranger from 35 to 42 no problem, although very boring. Wolves will aggro if your attacking so pull to a nice spot. Fear/snare couple min later your on to your next.

Stats are wrong...

Just got one of these off a wolf in Dawnshroud tonight with my 30 ranger. I was grouped and won the roll with a 46! :) But the stats above are wrong. They are actually 3 str 5 ac and 2 sta. No hp or dex in them.

I am lvl 45 Warior on Sullen Zek. Last night 2 of us collected 2 earrings. 1 off a BS Wolf, 1 off a normal wolf. Stats on both were 4ac,3str,3sta. No HP on either one. This stat must be wrong. We got the drops from wolfs by the small tents between Griegs and the Shroom house.
lvl 35!!! No way

I just wanted to post one thing about the lvl to attain being 35?? I am a lvl 45 Bard on the Xev Server and I can not even nearly solo one of these without fearing it constantly I am using Flameweaver mace from the GM Halloween event and a Blackened Alloy Longsword... bah lvl 35 what a joke way to many hitpoints and they hit very very hard at least to a bard :)

Oh wow, a level 45 Bard that cant kill something that was blue to me at 35. I have the Flameweaver and a Centi Warhammer. All you have to do is this...Selo's Consonant Chain, Angstlitch's Appalling Screech, and for you now at 45, Jonthan's Provocation. These should now be light blue to you at 45 as they are to me at 45. Hell, I could solo them with minor probs at 35, along with most of the lesser Zelniaks. I went from 31-39 in this zone, half of it was soloed, maybe more than that.

I agree. I went to Dawnshroud at lvl 40, and soloed all the way to 46 in a couple of weeks there, and never saw a single one of these drop. They have to be new. At lvl 40, I could solo a blood starved wolf without difficulty with mend up using 2 CoT's and no haste. I could solo a wolf without mend. Hope this puts something into perspective. I soloed snow cougars through 35 and got my earrings, btw.

I wonder if this item was recently added because I never heard of it until very recently.

It doesn't have HP - just replaces the 2 dex for 2 STA.

Panic animal...

Works on wolves (no faction hit) and rockhoppers (insignificant faction hits)

I saw one drop after like the 3rd wolf I killed.
It replaced my cougar claw, as right now, I would rather have sta then dex.
anyway, it is Luclins version of the Cougar claw...

It must have I got one the day of the patch, then the next day one droped. I have been in this zone for 10 lvls. I hadn't seen one untill Wednesday. Both drops were off normal wolfs, not just the blood starved.
same name different stats

I have been solo'n these since they were yellow to me at around lvl 35. As a beastlord I just let pet get up aggro and healing him, then join in and fall back and heal up if I get low on hps. When I got my new pet buffs at 39 I was able to take 2 at a time, prolly killed over 100 wolves and 20 or so of the blood starved trap triggered ones and maybe 5 other named ones never ever seen this. I am still hunting them though hopefully threw lvl 45 hope I get one or two.
