Why would they say I can use this when I can't? Seriously that was one of my first newb questions..
"Can I use a bow?"
Uber friend says "No"
"ok, thnx, :("
oh, well, that's why i can pull with magic :P, or if yer timing is right, you can pull with yer pet, just make sure to hit the mob 1 time b4 it dies :)

#Veryboredude, Posted: Mar 02 2003 at 12:39 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Here's the deal guys. From my experience, a Beastlord SHOULD be able to use this thing, though it will suck like no tommorow. Druid's can't use piercers...yet mine can equip that dieseased root thingie, which is piercing. I can't hit a thing with it, yet I can equip it.
You can

Actually, it is possible to equip a weap u have no skill in, you just never get ups and miss a LOT. I.E., I have goranga spear(2hp), Staff of the Waterwalker(2hb), and Black Acrylia Halberd(2HS) all of which my BARD can use. So a beastlord could in theory use this bow, they would just suck.

well you know they even have 1hs weapons for a monk(i.e. Blade of Superiority all/all) and even a whip that drops in warsliks woods. the reason they put stuff like this in the game doesnt ALWAYS have to be for a good reason.... a lot of times its for role playing. if you saw a monk with a blade and a whip like that it would look kinda funny for someone in a robe to have them.Thats the reason they make things for some classes when that class really shouldnt have that kind of weapon. Roleplaying :)

Ummm. If you can't use it because you don't have the skill, then you can't even equip it. They have just been too lazy to get it right or have made a mistake. A monk CANNOT put ANY 1hs or 2hs in their primary or secondary slot.

well.. i think it's rather immaterial whether or not you can use it if you plan to BUY the bow.. if you'll look closely, it's a no drop.

i think this is like the 2hs weapon and a bard, not so long ago a lot of 2hs weapon where labeled with bard too, but we havenąt the skill, we were able to use them, but with a skill of 0 it s not really efficient.....

But the difference with this though is a bows main use is for pulling from a distance. A bard needs to do damage with his weapon thus no skill is a definite problem.... with a bow, you can miss all day and still do the same as someone with 200 skill in archery if all you are doing is pulling with the bow...

i hate to argue about something as stupid as this but i have to tell you that while i may not have a ranger i've grouped with many of them who have pulled with a critical hit of around 150 with their bow. so personally im thinking a ranger with a bow would definately be a better idea than a bard with a bow... and wtf would a bard be doing pulling anyways that's what the monk is for.

#Mijit, Posted: Feb 12 2002 at 7:29 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) not a bad bow but i have seen way better.. decent pulling bow.. i guess. since it adds to archery .. personally im not fond of the % to wahtever crap because people up the price alot just because of 1 or 2% on a halfway decent item.. say for instance that you had a 10dmg 20dly weapon with 2% to slash people would charge an *** load for it =) anyways tahts just my opinion and people have different opinions. by the way my name is patata on DAoC if anyone cares..

DoAC hasnt been out long enough to determine if the economy is broken or not. When EQ was out that long, the economy was better. Come back in 2 years and after 3 expansions and tell me how DoAC economy is doing.

who cares about EQ economy? im only 53 and have been playing for 2 yrs because i dont grind out lvls. i play for one reason and one reason only ,,, TO HAVE FUN! i dont plant my butt in EC worrying about the value of my items like some toon on wall street with good or bad stock. and if i get bored of a high XP camp, i LEAVE! i either give away my gear to guildies/friends/newbs or sell to merchant 95 % of the time. and unless i happen upon a good deal for something, i dont buy at all. i have looted almost everything on me.

if it isnt fun, or isnt helping someone, then dont do it. i refuse to pay 10 bux a month to go to a second job. that is why i love EQ and am not so bitter that i have to run to a new game til it starts to jade me too. =)

Shred's got it right. If you revolve your play around making money, then are you really playing, or just duplicating you real life into EQ terms. For those of you who don't realize or forget due to social ineptitude, EQ is just a game. Get a grip, go on a date and stop playing EQ everyday.

My view exactly... and don't think that you're bad for being only 53 after playing for 2 years... I am only 21 (well, I hav a 22 alt, but he sux) and have been playing for almost 2 1/2 years.

I only wish that more people felt like you do. I to have been playing for over a year. I have two char's both just completed their first hell Lvl. The game is meant to be fun not work. When it becomes work you might as well wipe your hard drive.

Really hard to charge more for NODROP items. =)

Most people not fond of the price of some thing go get it themsleves and cut out the middle man. There is always trading for some thing also. There is no TRUE economy in a game!
#Mijit, Posted: Feb 12 2002 at 7:27 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) i rock, you dont =) nuff said.. by the way if anyone has anything to say about it i quit EQ come to DAoC galahad server albion realm.

Beastlords do not have the archery skill, but they could use this bow if they had it. They just wouldn't be very good. There are also several 1hs weapons that beaslords can use even though they do not get the 1hs skill.
