The Proc
# Feb 09 2004 at 4:09 PM Rating: Decent
The proc on this weapon is rather interesting to me. It doesn’t seem to proc as much as other weapons with proc's.

I also use Wicked Shank:
https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=17348

The shank proc's a lot more then the Bonechiller ever has. I can go threw whole fights with the bonechiller never procking, but have yet to go threw one fight where the Shank DIDNT proc.

I don’t know if they program weapons to proc more then others... but the bonechiller doesn't hardly ever proc.

Testing was done while raid buffed, with max stats, even Dex was maxed with both weapons.

Some weapons do have different proc rates - good examples are the Cleric summoned hammers, which have a hugely increased proc rate (over 6x normal), Bloodfrenzy which has around 150% of normal rate, and Greatstaff of the Four Winds at 130%.

There are also a few weapons with reduced rates, a good example being the Cudgel of Cowardly Death at 50%.

You can see this info in the "procratemod" field in Lucy.

So, there are lots of weapons with different proc rates... but this isn't one of them! It has procratemod of 0.

I assume you know that the procrate of your secondary is about half that of primary?

Doesn't proc as often? Hope I have better luck with it, just got one yesterday on my rogue. Will try it for a while and post again on how it does for me.
RE: The Proc
# Feb 21 2004 at 12:03 AM Rating: Decent
That's most likely because this is an offhand only weapon, if you could put this mainhand it would likely proc at a similar lvl to other weapons

damage bonus
# Apr 13 2003 at 12:52 PM Rating: Default
Being new to this game I'm learning interesting stuff all the time.
Could someone who knows for sure clarify something for me? If I understood a post above it was mentioned that the secondary weapon actually does not inflict the damage bonus on the mob, but only the base damage of the weapon. My god , but I hope that's not true. Please tell me it aint so!
Also, isn't it the primary weapon's delay that is the most important and determines the time between the attacks? If so, it seems that the 17 delay on this weapon makes one drool about speed of attack, but is not really of much help in this area.
Any help from you peeps that know what you are talking about would be appeciated by this newb.
RE: damage bonus

That is correct, damage bonus only kicks in in the main hand slot. Sad but true, you can check for yourself if you equip a 1hs and a 1hb with same damage, the offhand weapon will not be doing as much max damage as mainhand.

Once your dual-wield skill is high enough you will clearly see that your offhand attacks with its own delay. I dont have any facts about offhand only going off when mainhand does, I've never read about it anywhere, it might only be up to a certain lvl.

And also if your going to loot this particular sword your dual-wield is maxed anyways. I've used the 12/16 whip(from the same zone) in offhand and let me tell you, it goes off at least twice as much as my 19 delay mainhand(I have ambi.AA, not sure how much that affects it). Makes me wish it had HP and a proc hehe, as for this weapon, Im pretty sure dps is insane, to be rivaled in offhand only by the best of PoP weapons.

# Jun 17 2003 at 10:06 AM Rating: Excellent
off hand goes off on its own delay, but it works something like this compared to mainhand:

Mainhand checks:
delay comes around, swing check for hit or miss

Offhand checks:
Delay comes around. Check dual wield skill.
True: check for hit or miss, and wait for delay
False: wait delay again for next chance.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 09 2002 at 11:42 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) WEll Frostcall is on Frostbringer and Snowchipper I have both. Using snowchipper and silver blade of Thunder, I have gotten 140 from Snowchipper proc, plain as day 140 snap shot and emailed to allakhazams, dont know if they adjusted the base or max proc dmg, but ive gotten 140 out of it, just fyi, poss they made it more but who knows??
RE: I dont know why it posts 120??
# May 20 2003 at 3:02 PM Rating: Decent
frostcall is 120DD proc can hit for less i knowt his becuz i have used spiked vel mallet and snowchipper at some point in my playing ... also maybe you have AA that makes weapons proc higher? but think they are all post 60 ...

Nice Secondary
# Jul 20 2002 at 11:35 AM Rating: Excellent
I just got this last night thanks to my guild. It's probably one of the best secondary weapons in the game other than a few Enraging Blow proc weapons, especially now with AA (ambidexterity) your offhand can create a lot of taunt. The Proc is barely ever resisted, even on cold based mobs, but is resisted fully once in a while so It definetly isn't a Lure I believe (not 100% sure I don't deal with spells much). The HP Sta is great on it and the dmg/delay ratio is absolutly stunning, A nice all around weapon and I have no complaints for it being Offhand only.

Thank's guys you all own ~!~

Whats the effect??
# Jun 29 2002 at 7:43 PM Rating: Decent
I read what the effect says it does, but can anyone explain exactly what the effect does? I still haven't figured out what decreasing HP from 91 to 120 means.

it's just a basic definition of the "spell" effect. Normally this is a castable spell that increases in damage output for every level you get maxing out at level 16 for 120pts of damage. Ignore the 91-120 part since this has recommended level of 51, you're going to get 120pt procs unless the mob gets full or partial resists. The majority of weapon "effects" are the same as caster spells of the same name.

Very nice weapon, yes... but since it's secondary only, no bard will ever equip this weapon since epic is perma-glued to the off-hand due to the instrument bonuses it gives.

You know, i usually don't flame on the board, but some people need to... READ THE %^#@IN PATCH MESSAGES. A Rusty Daggers gets a damage bonus, EVERYTHING gets a damage bonus if <<LOOKED AT BY A MELEE CHARACTER OVER LVL 28>>. And DAMAGE BONUS DOES <<<<NOT>>>> Add to the base damage of a weapon. If you're gonna be a jackass on the boards, at least get the %^@#in facts right Teluil. Ok, got that out, good to go.

Yes only primary weapons recieve damage bonus. The damage bonus is still listed when viewed from inventory. When you equipt this weapon you wont get any damage bonus (since it's secondary only)

Excuse me but which SK in his/her right frame of mind would use it even if it were equipable by them? Zlandicar drops a 1hs 28/30, Telkorenar drops a 1hs 23/23 (or 24/24), MUCH better ratios then this dual wielder weapon. SKs who want to use 1hs can get weapons with insane Dmg/Dly ratios of much easier mobs than the creator.

Well, i never thought i would say this... but i actually <cringe> like this weapon they added. <shutter>

Seems long overdue, but finally something comparable to an SoD for an offhand. The proc is a good taunter, but it gives teh 2 things tanks want. Stamina and raw Hps. With a little ac and Agility tossed in.
