Only took a few hours to get all the drops. Trivial for a 63 Magician. Pre-looted the drops then did turn in.

Took no more than an hour to get this, all of the runes dropped the second time I killed the holder of them. They all seem to be on a 5-6 minute respawn as well.

Can this be Triggered by non-Mages to use the Eye ?

It would be interesting, as a Monk I like to see if the Mob I want to pull isn't surrounded by millions of friends.

Certain items that cast class specific spells cannot be clicked by other classes (see: the colored Ceramic Band series of player made items).

This is untrue... the Amulet of Necropotence casts the spell Illusion: Skeleton which is an enchanter spell... it is inventory clickable by all classes and equippable by all casters.

He said "certain items", not all items. Just wanted to point that out. The Amulet of Overpricedence is not amongst those certain items.

If you're wanting to use the Eye of Zomm as a monk, I suggest you get a Stalking Probe. They're tinkered items with five charges of Eye of Zomm. And it is very nice for pulling.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 17 2003 at 10:25 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) says magician class only listed...so my read is nope, not on this life.
RE: Triggerable By Non-Mages ?

Mages are the only class that can equip this.

Star of Eyes is a wiz only item that can be triggered from inventory by any class. There are many items like that, for which you don't necessarily have to be the class listed to use the item.

I don't know if this Clay Bracelet is like that, though someone below says it can't be triggered by others. I'm just pointing out that the listed class isn't what determines who is able to use the effect.

I believe all of the Temple of Solusek Ro quest rewards are restricted to the listed class.

If anyone knows otherwise, please post a correction.

To the mages of norrath,

I see that no one has talked about this yet, so I'll mention it.

This little thingamabob is now one of the handiest items in the game. Right up there with me jbooties. And I'll tell ya why.

Since may 8th they changed the way eye of zomm works. Before that patch eye of zomm had a few uses (low aggro pulling), but quite a few disadvantages.

1) It mirrored your faction and aggroed any mob that would be KoS to you, which essentially made it bloody useless for anything but pulling.

2) It counted as a pet which meant you couldn't have a pet summoned while you had an eye up, which made it even more bloody useless.

however, being the stubborn susmnabizsnach that I am I got it anyway. And it sat in me inventory...

and sat.. and sat... UNTIL!!!

May 8th rolled around and the patch changed everything. Now the eye no longer counts as a pet.. and it no longer aggros mobs... and this braclet casts instantly from inventory...

Which means that now by a simple right click or by hitting a hotkey, you can now have a manaless, instant scout for about 30 seconds that will not aggro, will not train, and will allow you to get REALLY neat pics of everything from vox to inny that hateful bastich himself... without any drawbacks what so ever. You can scout pulls, peek around corners... look up cute wood elf dresses...

err, ignore that last one... ANYWAY the point is, this thing is now INSANELY useful. This is one of the safest ways to look at mobs that see invis without getting aggro. And ya can't beat a manaless instant cast with a stick.

So yes, this does work from inventory and IMHO every mage in EQ outta have one. I use this sucker constantly.

CLAY BRACELET SUX NO MORE!!!

Faelawen Starfyre, The Mad Mage of Povar

52 1/2th season, leader of the Defiant Heroes, King of the Karanas, Arch nemesis of the Evil Squirrel Empire.

PS: Fnord.

PPS: which raises the next question, what level ya have to be to trigger it. I know it worked for me at 32, but aside from that I am unaware at how soon ya can hope to snag this lil beauty.

PPPS: also, ya can get this pretty low, but bring help. Some of those necro towers are a pain to clear.

but i really love the unlimited eye when your bored in ec. i also love it when people will kill your eye. its just good times all around.
Sure it's worthless?

I've heard that you can summon an eye for free, then use your focus item to kill it for mana, and repeat. Also, you can summon up an eye and a necro can tap it for hp. Would either of these work? If so I would think it would be nice to have one on hand.....

Mendan, you are absolutely correct. If you look under the Holgresh War Beads item description on this site, you'll see MANY necros offering 20K+ for an all/all version of this piece. This is because we CAN drain the Master-less eye! It has roughly 5hp, but this doesn't stop us from draining it for maximum (depending on spell, natch).

I'm afraid I've never played a Mage, I don't know if the same trick can be played by that class.

dont these eyes only have 1hp?
RE: Sure it's worthless?

Hey.

The amount of health a necro receives from a lifetap is not directly related to the amount of health a victim has to lose.

If I cast Vampiric curse, I gain something in the region of 200HP. (Over a little more than a minute.) Assuming my victim has this many HPs left, they will lose this many HP. However, I will gain the full amount regardless. So, if I cast on a level one monster, I will still gain full benefit.

This is definitely the case with the DoT lifetaps. I am not 100% certain it's true of DD lifetaps, since it never occurred to test it. Having said this, I'd be pretty sure of it.

Hope this helps.

it works with the lifetaps too.. its fun to watch the life of a rat go from full to nothing with one cast while my health goes up over a hunder points (lvl 34)
RE: Sure it's worthless?
# Nov 12 2002 at 9:02 AM Rating: Excellent
aye necros can tape it for full effect on ANY lifetap spell. MEANING even a lvl 60 necro can cast Zevfeer's Theft of Vitae ( 1050 group life tap over time) on an eye of zomm and everyone will get the full effect of it. as for the rclaim energy, they changed it to where it it no longer counted as a pet wiping that out =\

Not worth the time
# Aug 17 2001 at 10:35 PM Rating: Default
Hate to post stuff like this on here, but fellow Mages, don't waste your time on this one. The other Sol Ro quests are real nice, but stats like this for having to kill these four baddies is truthfully not worth it. When you go to Upper Guk to kill the Tonta Knight for your Earthen boots, go to the little temple room and camp the Froglok Scryer and grab a couple bracelets of woven grass. Good luck mages!

But one thing to keep in mind. Some of us have hit the soft cap in Int and don't need one or two +3Int bracers. For me, this was a very easy quest and gave me +5 save vs magic (which is needed later in your career). By all means if you still need more +Int go for the braclets of woven grass but this is a nice alternative until something else (planar, etc) stuff shows up.

And, eighteen months later, with LDoN this has an augment slot. Mine now has +5 INT as well as a +5 save, and the clicky effect: that makes it a pretty nice bracer compared to many of the other options available.

Is the Eye of Zomm an instant cast on this bracelet? Or does it have a cast time?
If it were instant cast I'd go get the bracelet :)) You can PL newbies... lol

Instant cast: you can even summon the eye while running, though I can't see a reason why you'd want to :).

I'm unsure as to whether or not this has been changed, but the eye of Zomm use to be a level 1 mob (correct, mob, not pet) with a bind sight, which any player can attack it. It also happens to have... hmm... limited health? Somewhere in the neighbourhood of... well, 2? Heh ;) Pretty easy for any newby to deal 2 damage in one hit. Considering the eye is completely incapable of retalliation, this would be a cause for a pretty short trip to level 6. If it was an instant cast click, and not a time delayed click, that is. If not, heck, it's still probably easier than finding an unlimited supply of mobs in most zones. =P

Just wanted people to know what I suspect with this and the other three quests Joyce the NPC gives out at the Temple of Solesek Ro. She calls them Items of the Elementalist and they are four all together, which are:

1.) Robe of the Elements - I did this quest today at lvl 30 because I wanted the robe since I saw someone wearing it at lvl 8. When I got the robe Joyce said, and I quote, "The Robe of the Elements is a fine cloak for a magician. It provides protection from the elements, protection from melee attacks, and aids the magician with her focus." Nowhere in the rightclick description box for the robe does it say something about the robe helping with focus, but Joyce did.

2.) Clay Bracelet

3.) Earthen Boots

4.) Circlet of Mist

Note that there are 4 elemental style pets (Fire, Water, Earth, and Air), 4 focus items (torch, stein, shovel, and broom), and 4 Items of the Elementalist (Robe of the Elements, Clay bracelet, Earthen Boots, and Circlet of Mist). It seems (I'm stretching here) that the earthen boots are linked to earth and that the Circlet of Mist may be linked to Air (look in the mage research books ingame and you will see that the spell names for summoning air are really called summon mist - that is if you can read dragon). Maybe the Clay bracelet is for water (aren't some Steins to hold water made out of clay? - although in German that word means stone) and the Robe is for Fire or maybe you need all the items together. Who knows.

I am going to do all the mage quests and I'm gonna wear the items and have fun being a mage. Don't take this simple looking item for granted. Who knows, maybe I'll summon a better pet than you, Muuhhhaaaha (or whater).

Okay - to break down what Joyce says

"The Robe of the Elements is a fine cloak for a magician.
1) It provides protection from the elements, - +5 Sv Fire +5 Sv Cold +5
2) protection from melee attacks, and - AC 9
3) aids the magician with her focus" - Int +4

Hope that helps answer the question.
