Why does.....
# Jan 26 2004 at 6:11 PM Rating: Decent
Why does everyone always give every possible bit of information about things in these posts except the information that people really need, like where this guy spawns and what lvl he is?? Please post somthing useful about this spawn.

I agree. At least cut the line out of you map and post it here so we can copy and paste to our map. I dont care what it looks like or your thoughts on how useful it is. Tell me where the guy spawns.

These gloves no longer drop in game. They were dropped by an old named in AC before the revamp. A friend gave me a pair when i was lvl 20, and it was the only pair I have ever seen on my server.
wrong

if yer skill caps at 200 skill and you have 200 in that skill, then a skill mod item does nothing whatsoever for you.

Not Wrong.

Just like Geerlok Devices with Tradeskills, if some1's skill is maxed, the % increase takes the person's cap up by the %.
Nice Gloves...

The skill mod will effectively increase your skill about your cap, right? I always assumed so...

i think it improves your raw skill and your cap.. say if you have a 200 skill in alteration, these gloves would make it 210. this is just speculation however.

Casters have their spell casting skills capped well below 255.

Abjuration 235 @ 50+
Alteration 235 @ 50+
Channeling 220 @ 50+
Conjuration 235 @ 50+
Divination 235 @ 50+
Evocation 235 @ 50+
Meditate 235 @ 50, 252 @ 51+
Specialization 235 @ 50+

Skill modifiers will help you get up to 255 skill in whatever you need. You cannot go over 255 however.

That's sweet, thanks for the info Jarnin. I have a question about the skill cap though. With an alteration of 235, does that mean that you will now be able to raise your skill to 247 with them equiped? Or will you just cast as if you had a 247 alteration skill with them equiped and the number that shows up in your skills will still say 235? If the first one is true, then will your skill stay at 247 once you take them off? I'm sure a lot of clerics are wondering about this like I am, since it would be nice to get your skill to 247 in alteration and then switch back out to gloves that have better AC/Wis/Mana/Saves than these gloves and give it to a friend so they to can raise their alteration skill above the cap. Thank you for a response in advance Jarnin or anyone else that has information about how the skill mods work =)

It will be as if you had a skill of 247 only while wearing them, but your actual skill will remain the same. If they are removed, the increased skill ceases. BTW, if your meditate skill is capped at 252 and you wear a +med item, it doesn't seem to affect the skill to a measurable degree.
