They are denied it based upon a RP standpoint. Plate armor does not breathe well, thus iksar + plate + hard physical work (combat) = heatstroke (or something similar) = dead iksar. Iksar have a natual AC bonus (which comes from scales, naturally) to make up for it.

Lol...Well I hate to be an EQ nerd, and you're partially right. Iksar cannot wear plate because of an RP thing. However, it is my understanding that they are uncomfortable with the combination of their scales and something Solid like Plate. Can never get the padding right or some such nonsense..Oh well, poor Iksar Warriors, you knew the pluses and minuses of your race when you picked it :P
but the thing is, that **** only used to have a effect on you back in the old days of eq. now every bp thats SoL + is usually

Look up mithril boots. ToV drop i believe
30ac 5str 15sta 15svm 50hp. Not as many stats as these but more ac and more of the stats it does give. Either are nice :)
