I certainly doubt that these gaunts can be considered "very rare" In a 2 hr run, i got 4 pairs of these. Not including the pair that my friend and I had. No other piece dropped for us. now to search for the elusive crown, arms, and legs :P

Would I want these over my Coldain Skin Gloves?
I'm not sure..
Yes I have these. They were defaulted to me, since one of us 2 druids had them....but do I want them over my other gloves?
I would probably vote for the Coldain skin....
Any ideas?

Dex is rumoured to be used in the calculation to see if you sucessfully channel a spell (ie get the 'you regain your concentration and continue your casting' message. This makes it a pretty important stat for casters, and the 24 total dex off these gloves and a pair of bracers is gonna make an appreciable difference in channelling success.

Sure, you lose wis and mana over coldain skin, but wis over 200 is of comparatively little value (and this is coming from a guy with 255 wis without trying), and excessive +mana gear is only really useful when you're about to take on a tough mob and start at FM. In a regular exp group, you're seldom going to be FM and taking advantage of a huge mana pool, but being able to channel that succor or nature's touch could make a huge difference to an evening's play.

Dex is not used channeling is the skill for regaining concentration. Dex is used for calculations of procs and the calculation wheather a hit is succesfull. (str determines the amount of damage inflicted if hit is succesfull)

For the rest your considerations towards these and coldain are quite usefull. At this moment completing my elysian set but i might consider coldain set as well or at least parts of it. Probably one of the sets will end up as my corpserunset. And usage might depend on huntinggrounds

I wonder where the programmers got the name...
In Greek mythology, the Elysian fields are where the blessed and honored mortals go to after they die. For example Perseus, Theseus, Heracles (hercules for you Roman buffs), etc. Verant is so pressed for names, they've decided to steal it from an ancient, deceased culture's religion.

I'll ask the question I suspect many of us are wondering. What mob do these drop off of?

They drop off of the Disturbed Elysian Remains. I've gotten the legs, tunic, and crown. Pretty nice stuff.

#FenrisMM, Posted: Jan 15 2002 at 7:16 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) By the time you can hunt Umbral you had better have something way better. The save vs magic is pointlessly low. Dex, Str.. who cares since if you do much meleeing in Umbral (or anywhere else for that matter) you will be dead soon.. So it comes down to the 25 mana and the fairly high AC for druid gloves. Again, AC helps with the agro we pull, but I would not give up my woven grass or even Iron Tactics (easier to get than these)

Its the set which is nice

The set is pretty nice though. Once you are level 55 - 60 it gives you the choice to sometimes have a higher AC kit for whatever at a time when you'd be over 200 wis anyway.

The bp is especially nice, really being an improvement over verm bp and 40 ac and you have a chance to actually get it solo at 55. The area these are in only have them and Shaks, niether of which summon. If you luck out you get one alone upon the zone wall, if not you run/gate ;) I soloed one but it dropped nothing. The legs don't have anything great but are 26 ac. The boots are an incredible (for us.. well really even for many classes) 24 ac, and the tov or thurg quest boots really don't have other stuff better on them.

Gloves may be better, such as coldain ones being easy to get and having high wis, but its really the whole set you look at. I mean, tov and thurg druid quest gloves suck too ;) I don't really care about these gloves either but I sure as heck would like to get my hands on the bp, legs and boots.

Actually the other pieces in this set are pretty nice, it's just the gloves that kind of stink it up.

Just a note. since SoL, 200 is no longer the viable wisdom cap. You now get wisdom all the way up to 255. If I remember correctly its 1wis=12mana until 200, then 1wis=6mana up to 255... but I could be mistaken on the actual math.

Keep in mind that there are also GHETTO DRUIDS like say.......... me........... for whom these are an upgrade in both wisdom AND ac. And no drop so if a group doesn't have a druid they're 100% free.
