this weapon is very good, I picked it up off a mob that was about to decay after someone trained zone after killin the mob; didnt even see the mob's name, jus looted this real fast. I thought it was like tribal warhammer in Dawnshroud (8/27), and I almost destroyed. oh boy am I glad I didnt destroy. It taunts incredibly, but it does not do much damage compared to other weapons you can buy. I think I'll prolly wield this primary with frostbringer offhand; that seems like itd be a decent taunt/dmg combo.

I saw this and since it was no drop I almost logged on one of my twinks to get it - boy that would have been a mistake.

For the heck of it, I started using it a bit and found it really really seemed to stick the mobs too me so I experimented and it seems to wrok for taunt better than a 10/18, 11/20, 12/22 with proc, and 13/23.

I also was with another warrior with epic and I was able to get aggro from him without the taunt key. We were both the same lvl (60). So experimenting again, I found I could take aggro from him anytime by using my taunt key. Big difference though - it seemed he could get the mobs off the cleric and casters better. Im not sure how to explain that but perhaps he had a couple of well timed procs.

Anyway, Im not suggesting this is better than the warrior epic (well, if I had it I might still use this and the taunt blade in the off hand) but its damn nice for a weapon that I just happened to stumble across.

#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 15 2002 at 2:08 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This has to be one of my top 5 weapons for druid/cleric melee (druids get a couple nice scimmys though which are 10 19 and 12 24 respectively). And this has got to be one of the best 1hb melee weapons in the game.

I submitted this item, since I didn't see it listed yet... I've been using it for around a month now, and I've gotta say, it's the best taunter that I've gotten my hands on. Right now, I use the Goranga Tribal Warhammer in primary, and a Defiance in my secondary hand. I have no problems getting/maintaining aggro with this set up, and well, let's face it, that's a warrior's job in the high level game. We've got to stand toe-to-toe with a mob, and do our best to make sure that it doesn't lay the smack down on the rest of our group/guild.

I got this on Veeshan off of the Goranga Seer (it's his rare) very early on in SoL. I did not feel like submitting it, alas (lazy).

It taunts well, and as a 60 warrior, I did not notice the damage go down any from my CBoL. CBoL in offhand and this in main hand feels downright fast.

nice weapon.. really fast.. good with frosty offhand.. need i say more? as for the dude with the jade mace is 15 18 at 60 blah blah .. where did you get your formulas? i have never heard of the 60 boost before.. mabe im a loser.. lvl 48 wars dont know much i guess.. anyways in any way u put it without haste this is a nice weapon.. but with haste i recommend getting a high dmg medium delay weapon.. like 14 25 or something like that.. because you can easily bring 25dly WAY down with SoS/FBSS or similar haste.. or wait at lvl 50+ (required lvl to get kinda) u could get a sash of dragonborn / ayiana's quickening / bard haste and really whup ***.. at this lvl jsut stick with good dmg/med dly weapons.. or good dmg / low dly or whatever.. i wouldnt recommend going with low dmg / low dly=) just a thought.. no flamers plz this is just my opinion
THX peace out

at higher lvls, you get DMG bonuses... Verant actually made them visible. Higher delay weapons get better bonuses, but not as proportional as low delay weapons, because the lower damage weapon hits the target more times...

For example: ( a very simple one too )

30 40 weapon with 15 DMG Bonus...
in 40 delay, you can do 30+15 or 45 damage

15 20 weapon with 10 DMG Bonus...
in 40 delay, you can do 15+10 and 15+10 or 50 damage

same ratio, lower delay, better weapon.
PLUS: more hits = more taunt, and more hits = better average damage, as you'll have more chances to hit the target with a lower delay weapon.

its also offhand only, aka broken beyond usefulness. Hitting 200 times a minute for 13 damage a hit was one thing: 140 times a minute for 1-3 is totally different.

Isn't this worse than the goranga spiky club that drops more often?
Wait my erudite intelligence just kicked in - this blows jade mace out of the water, delay wise. This is the lowest delay warrior weapon that I can think of right now (well Kerran fishing pole but that's a 3/17 weapon).

Well... imo, at higher lvls it really depends on what your haste ends up being if you want a faster wep in primary versus a harder hitting. Right now I use a frostbringer and an ethereal longsword. Frostbringer's faster but if I have speed of the shissar or something like it cast on me I prefer the harder hitting. Remember there's a minimum delay. With no haste though this is very fast... kind of a wu's stick for more classes without the proc and one more dmg point.

There is no minimum delay.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that low-damage/low-delay weapons are superior to high-damage/high-delay weapons because of some oddities in the minimum damage calculation math on Verant's part, but this remains unproven as far as I know.

In general, a low-damage/low-delay weapon will be superior to a high-damage/high-delay weapon with the same ratio, in the primary hand. There is a primary-hand-only absolute bonus to damage which is added to every hit; therefore an 8/17 will do significantly more damage at higher levels than a 16/34.

At level 60, where the primary hand bonus is approximately equivalent to an additional damage rating of 6, an 8/17 weapon in the primary hand functions as a 14/17 weapon: effective ratio = .824.

By comparison, at the same level a 9/18 Jade Mace in the primary hand functions as a 15/18 weapon: effective ratio = .833.

So it's not quite as good as a Jade Mace.

Wurmslayer, on the other hand, at 25/40, functions as a 31/40 weapon: effective ratio = .775.

So it's quite a bit better than a Wurmslayer.

On the other hand, at level 54, where the primary hand bonus is approximately equivalent to a damage rating of 4.5, a Wurmslayer's effective ratio is .738, and a Jade Mace's effective ratio is .75. So a Wurmslayer is almost as good as a Jade Mace at level 54. In fact, at level 54, a Lamentation is effective ratio .712, or noticeably worse than a Wurmslayer.

If your weapons have the same damage/delay ratio, put the faster one in your primary hand.

Haste, by the way, makes no difference as to which weapon you should use in the primary hand.
RE: Quick question

bonus dmg is not added to weapon dmg that runs thru the multiplier. if u have 6 bonus dmg on a weap then u will do 6 more actual dmg to the mob with the MAIN HAND because of it. so if u hit for 5 times weap dmg on a 3 dmg weap in offhand u would smack mob for 15 dmg but with 6 bonus dmg in mainhand u would hit for 21.

PLEASE quit adding bonus dmg to weapon multiplier dmg. i realize it is what we all WANT to believe but it just isnt the truth. <=*(
RE: Quick question

The reason faster weapons are typically placed in the primary hand, and why they usually preform better there has to do with primary hand bonuses. These bonuses add x ammount of damage each time the weapon makes contact with your target. So the more times you hit the target (lower delay) the more times the primary hand damage bonus comes into effect. Hope this helps you understand :)

removed from the game some time ago as I understand it (the moss covered twig)
RE: Quick question
# Jan 14 2002 at 8:33 PM Rating: Decent
The moss-covered twig was not removed from the game. It was made secondary-hand only, as it was much too powerful at high levels in the primary hand. Specifically, with the level 60 primary-hand bonus, it was effectively a 9/10 weapon, at a time when a Jade Mace (15/18 at level 60) or a warrior epic weapon (20/24 at level 60) were considered exceptionally good.

In the off hand, it's just a slightly-worse-than-1/3-ratio weapon like many others.
