The task will only update if you loot the fragment after you have the task. So they are not prelootable. Confirmed today 12/19/08
Actually, you can preloot the fragments, but you must loot at least one fragment after you get the task, at which point it will update to show you've looted all 8 (or however many you have if less than 8).
This is for the task 'The Ultimate Weapon' from Nahsulen the Tactician in Old Bloodfields. Its prelootable, need 8.
