This is one of the grimling weapon quest Items. You are suppose to turn it in to the appropriate Armsman in Shar Vahl near the arena to get the REAL weapon. After you turn it in, they give you back the converted version of it making it magic and giving it grim bane damage. I have one.

Ok so its not magic and thier are much better 2hb's that you can get in luclin but its a realy eyecatcher on my necro :-)

I use it as a fasion tool


UPDATE: Yes you can trade this in to get the Grimling Bane Staff 25/50 MAGIC Lord 4 bane damage to grimling

Not sure of details, but look up Great Sword of the Grunt. On that there is mention of a quest which leads to Grimling Bane swords from memory. These Grunt swords are quest items from the look of things.

I just like them because of the name :)

I'm new to the whole damage bonus thing, but if its not weapon related how come when I went from 34th to 35th the damage bonus on all my weapons stayed the same (Dark Reaver +6 , Stalagspine Terror Spear +3 , MOSS +3 , and Crystallized Sword +3) EXCEPT for my Rage War Maul which went from +9 to +10.

So I think there is a weapon relation to the damage bonus, probably in conjunction with the class/level cut.

Can't wait to get to level 36 to see if the damage goes up to +11

Ok the following things relate to damage bonus for sure:
Player level
Weapon Delay
Class (melees getting the highest improvement and other classes getting tiny numbers, up to 10 i think)

I'm not sure but I think the following may also play a part, if not they help you hit by raising atk rating anyway:

Offence skill
Weapon skill
Nabot Charlemagne 65th Paladin

Offense skill and weapon skill don't affect it but the type of weapon (1h or 2h matters, blunt/slash/pierce doesn't change anything)

Starting at level 27 or 28 I belive it is, you start gaining bonus damage points. This goes up every couple of levels.

You get bonuses to Two Handers first earlier on, then One Handers. This alternates back and fourth but you always have a higher bounus with Two Handers.

This has been around since the dawn of time, the only difference is that th weapon displays it now.

ok, to clear up the damage bonus:

The bonus depend on:
char lvl
one hand or two hand

dmgb-1H is: (lvl-25)/3 (for monks)
So at lvl 28 you have a dmgb of 1 .... raising all three lvls by 1.

Two hand dmgb depend also on the delay of the two hander (formulars for monks again):
dly <= 27 .... dmgb = dmgb-1H + 1
dly >= 28 & dly <= 39 ... dmgb = dmgb-1H + (lvl-27)/4
dly >= 40 & <= 42 ... dmgb = dmgb-1H + (lvl-27)/4 + 1
dly > 42 ... dmgb = dmgb-1H + (lvl-27)/4 + (lvl-34)/3
