Cast slow, malosi and before he could dot ... my warrior brought him .. and one mushroom to the guard at the door. LOL ... guard finished the mushroom .. with a little arrow support from the 40th lvl warrior ... while i was getting slowed and malo from the chief .. (the doof kept spelling me since the guard was busy with the shroom) then the guard was low on HP (so was my warrior) since he had been soloing the other bogs before with no healer) and started the 'walk away to die' ****. Cheif got close enough (remember my warrior was rooted) I just started whacking the crap out of him and got agro .. Lt. Authur whatever owes me a life . hehe .. his partner ran over from the mutants and tried to KS me .. ah ah ah ... root had worn off so when chief ran .. i was on him like stink on you know what .. pathing kept the guard busy .. long enough .. and got the spear . .WOOT . hehe
The stats are correct I handed it to a monk and he was able to primary-weild it. Dont know what actual damage would be though, seeing how monk pierce wpn skill is zero. I guess the picture is the same as the other spears that the boglings have. I got Bogling spears and Bogling war spears off of the Bogling Scouts. I think they all look the same but I can't say for certain on that. As for the dmg bonus, that depends on your lvl. For me it is dmg bonus +1.
OK here are some details. The Bogling chief is only a little harder than the other Boglings. Some Bogling warriors are yellow to my 29 SK and so was this guy. His spawn location according to maps on eqatlas would be p500 p500 http://www.eqatlas.com/luclin/echocaverns.html
We were a group of 29 SK, 29 SK, 28 wiz, 27 monk, and had a 41 cleric friend doing heals.
You can enter Echo from Shadow Haven and run all the way down to p700 p250 without being attacked. (Stay away from the glowing plants.) At that point the room widens and there are about 4 Bogling or Bogling Warrior spawns. Our group killed them for good exp, but training them to the guards at the door at p700 n400 is ok tactic also. They all swarm so expect em all.
In the narrow end of the chamber is where the chief spawns. There are 4 spawns of mushroms with a 5th being the PH for the chief. Again we killed em all for exp and we got the chief on the 2nd round. The mushrooms were all blue to me. They fight to the death and don't run but I found it hard to target them because their name does not show up above them. So when fighting they all are in a pile and I can't tell which one I am hitting. Their attack graphic move looks to me to be the same as their being-hit graphic move so I could not time my spells to be between their attacks either.
Now the Bogling Chief was just a regular plain-old warrior type. He didn't cast any spells and we took him down pretty quick. I was saving my HT for him, (291 dmg) and I used it, but we could have had him anyway. The other SK didn't use his HT.
We had to re-clear the bogling room behind us when we wanted to leave. The Boglings do try to run if there is one of them left and he is low health. They never got very far but I would'nt want to have to chase em all over.
BTW, the entrance to this part of Echo Caverns is the door to the right of the Soul Binder in Shadow Haven.
Ok, so the posts here have covered where it drops and some ideas on how to get at the guy... but what does the spear look like? Is it the basic Luclin spear model? (same as the seru gaurds carry, spiny weapon model etc...) If not then please post a pic or description, thanks.
This must be the rarer of his two drops. I killed the chief twice and got the wing both times. I talked to some other players and the wing is all they had seen him drop.
Where the heck does this chief spawn? I've spent two whole days killing everything in Echo Caverns (the side you enter from the hidden door in Shadowhaven), but never saw this guy.
========================== EDIT: Ok, I found him. He spawns in the bogling camp next to the needlites. He is at the far end of the room where the mushrooms spawn. Only one bogling will spawn in the middle of the mushrooms, so if it is not the chief, it will be a PH.
My trick to get him to spawn was to agro every bogling in the room and run them to the guards. After the guards dispatch them (sometimes they kill some guards too), he usually spawns alone.
Be careful with this dude as he tends to run early and will actually GATE himself before he dies. He gated the first time I fought him and he appeared right back in his spawn point, of course half healed.
Dropped the wing the first time and the spear the second time. He was a joke to kill. Casted disease based dots and hit like a sissy.

Does this drop off of the bogling chief. I would guess so from the name, but all i have gotten him to drop is the wing. Also does he have a triggered spawn?
Just a long shot, but maybe VI meant to make this a range item, and therefore, a monk might equip it in his range for the resists. Still a little heavy, and i am prolly wrong. But I could be right... =)
... but this has no RANGE slot listed, and no Range: stat either (either one of those indicates it'll go into the Range slot) -- so it's probably just a slip of the mouse :-)
