Innate camo makes this useless, and prolly not worth the time at lower levels.

My ranger just got this item and it is useful whenever you need to travel undetected and don't want to take up a gem slot for a invis spell. I use this cloak whenever I am traveling but I'll switch to my spider fur cloak whenever the fighting starts.

In fact, I keep a lot of items that may be junky but have some useful clicky effects. Along with his cloak, he also has a Tolan Bracer for arrows that he doesn't use on a regular basis. He also has a pair of JBoots for emergency SOWs. And he also keeps some crystaline webs for emergency snares. You might say that my ranger is the Batman of Norrath with all of his gadgets.

Nowhere near my rogue who drags about at least 10 different weapons at all times!

It's really useful for losing a charmed pet.
would be nice

Would be a nice quest, if it could be done around level 40. As is, for a ranger, this is a very minor upgrade over cloak of the icebear, and gets beat by Spider fur. For a druid, this would be great for lower levels when melee is still possible, but in the 50s, this just doesn't have the mana to be worth it.

The effect is junk. I moved camouflage to the back of my spellbook, because the mana on superior camo is so low (45 mana?) that it isn't even worth casting the right one when outdoors. I do use my tolan's helm when I don't feel like memming the spell though, so this could be handy in that case.

I don't know. Maybe if a druid has such high base wisdom that they easily hit 255, this would be worth it to bump up HP and AC by a bit, but I doubt it.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 23 2002 at 2:20 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) we got the blood like substance off the named a named coterie in ME last night... had no idea what it was for so Random'd and let fates decide, cleric won. DOH!
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 19 2002 at 3:40 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I got this spell just after Luclin opened..it was payment for a port, which I was doing for free. It was a dropped spell from Luclin, but I didn't ask what mobs dropped it, since I had no idea what the spell was at the time.

From my observations, the duration is completely random. I have had a few casts of superior camouflage that lasted for a good 15 minutes, but they are few and far between. It seems to me that I've had far more casts last for less than 6 seconds than I've had that persisted for longer than the duration of improved superior camouflage, which is 10 minutes.

Camo and superior camo are basically interchangeable, save for the outdoor-only restriction on the former. Theoretically, super camo has a longer max duration (24 minutes according to spell data parsers), but I've never had a super camo last for nearly that long, and I'm sure I never will.

Tolans VS Claok
# Jan 31 2002 at 10:47 PM Rating: Decent
Cloak's Camo does cast slow but for a free Invis when Pulling its Very Helpful, and Tolans Rocks with its Sup Camo (BUT its slower cast and has NO Stats) I don't have a Tolans Helm, and Not sure when I'll get one, but this Item is a QUEST means I don't have to wait on a random Drop or Pay !
But I am going to get one just for Pulling, Free Scout in most zones.

RE: Tolans VS Claok

No Tuluvar, the guy meant tolan's helm which clicks superior camoflage. No Tolan's cloak out there.
what lvl?
# Jan 18 2002 at 1:22 PM Rating: Decent
what lvl can i get this to proceed? anyone know?
AGI is good
# Jan 14 2002 at 9:02 AM Rating: Decent
This is a very good cloak. There are better out there, but with 8 AGI it really brings your AC up to 9, and maybe 10 (depending on whre your AGI starts). In addition it would help you dodge all the more, though not enough to make a huge difference in battle. The stamina could help that Wurm Slayer weilding ranger as well.

Of coruse, the quest is a damn hard one lol.
does it have to be worn
# Jan 10 2002 at 8:04 AM Rating: Decent
Does this cloak have to be worn to cast the effect or inventory clicked. Im assuming it has to just want to ask someone who has it.
No thanks says the Ranger

AC = fair
STA = good
MANA = good
AGI = ho-hum
10 second cast Camo. = errr I'm sure the Tolans Helm is faster than this, and it's still too slow at the best of times. Not sure what the casting time on the equivalent Druid armour piece is. Probably the same as Tolans.

Yeah. Fair piece of equipment if you dont have say a Shimmering Terror Hide cloak, or Spider Fur, but probably not worth the time investment involved in camping an invisible level 50 mob that lifetaps you....

tolan's helm casting time is 15 seconds

also, the helm has superior camo that can be cast inside, the cloak, has regular, which can be cast outside only.

Tolan's Darkwood Helm has a 10-second casting time Superior Camouflage. Ten. X. 2 by 5. 10 from 20.
No thanks, says the druid

After putting up with nearly 50 or so levels of camo dropping at inappropriate times, I'll gladly cough up the mana for improved sup camo :)
Cloak
# Dec 21 2001 at 1:02 PM Rating: Decent
The effect on this cloak is the Camouflage? This is kind of like the Elder Spiritualit's Helm, only this is the lesser spell given to druids at low level. I cant believe they wouldnt make this with Superior Camouflage....but oh well.
Casting time on camo?
# Dec 20 2001 at 4:27 PM Rating: Decent
Unless the casting time on camo is instant, I will just keep my tolan's helm and find a cloak with better AC. Anyone know if it is instant perhaps?
RE: Casting time on camo?
# Dec 20 2001 at 7:15 PM Rating: Decent
Definitely not instant, or very soon to be nerfed if it is.
Remember the Circlet of Shadow? Allowed for some very interesting "strategies" which Verant didn't approve of in the least ;)

Cast time is 10 sec. Not worth doing that quest.
Yep, definately longer than the spell

Longer than casting the spell itself for sure. Any newer items with a clickable are like that. Since this is for classes who already get camo the only use is as a lazy convenience when you have plenty of time to cast it.

I guess the cloak is kinda good for a ranger anyway so thats nice.

Ahaha yeah I accidently discovered one strategy for unerfed circlet on my twink (so glad i have that ;) ) It Fd'd by an orc in crystal caverns and was oom and healing. I stood up and INSTANTLY hit my circlet hot key and it worked! I got invis instantly upon standing and faster than the orcs aggro could work. Then I sat down by the orc and medded up until I killed it ;)

invis potions
# Apr 07 2002 at 3:47 AM Rating: Decent
invis potions that you can buy in some stores for 10 and a half plat does invis instantly not sure if it would work but i think gather shadow is just a self only invis but would the samw stratagy work? not as nice but would be something
RE: Yep, definately longer than the spell
# Dec 23 2001 at 11:34 PM Rating: Decent
Most, not all. The Di'zok Escape Staff from the newly revamped Chardok has a 9 second casting time for Evacuate (same as the spell itself).
