Book Text:

Well, I suppose now that
I've got this thing all
figured out, I should tell
folks how they can create
this for themselves. If
you know what you're doing,
this should be simple
enough. This is years of
my research, so forgive me
if I don't just scribble
out the "how to" and leave
it at that.

It's been a while since I
started this project. So
long ago that I'm not so
much sure that I remember
why exactly I wanted to
make this. I suppose it
was something to do with
some trip I had just made
where I came back
uncomfortable from some
volcano or something.

Regardless, I got it into
my head to find a way to
protect myself from
unpleasant working
conditions.

It wasn't all that hard to
make the outfit itself.
Any simple smith can make a
suit of armor after all.
It was finding the right
materials that was the hard
part. That, and sealing
all the joints. Then I had
to find a way to make it so
I could move with the suit
on. Turns out that
comfortable isn't all that
useful if you can only be
comfortable in the spot
where you got dressed.

But I worked it all out
eventually. Only broke

five bones in all that
time, so I figure that's a
good thing.

So here's the important
stuff. You got to make the
whole thing. It won't work
if you don't. But you have
to make each part precisely
or it won't all come
together at the end. If
you aren't a careful
tinker, then don't even try
this. You'll never make
it. And don't test the
suit in something like lava
first. Sure, you'll notice
the failure right away, but
then someone else is going
to have to take up where
you left off.

Let's start at the bottom.
To make the leggings for

the suit you'll need the
following:

Titanium Plate Greaves
Template
Titanium Plate Boot
Template (2)
Clockwork Gnome Shaft (4)
Clockwork Gnome Gear (2)
Clockwork Pinion Gear
Bundle

Follow the diagram and you
should have yourself a
nice, if heavy, pair of
leak proof pants.

The upper part of the suit
is just about as easy to
make.

Titanium Breastplate
Template
Titanium Plate Gorget

Template
Titanium Plate Belt
Template
Clockwork Gnome Shaft (4)
Clockwork Gnome Gear (2)
Clockwork Pinion Gear
Bundle

Do NOT try wearing this.
You might end up trapped
inside the thing for a few
days until your wife
finally gets off her bottom
and comes looking for you.
You'll want the power units
from the other parts to
help move this thing
around.

What expansion?

Is there some arcane knowledge reason this item has no expansion listing?

So this has been around since classic then? Did it come out later. I am having a real problem tracking down information and it seems like some recipes across all the trade skills came into being out of the blue. There has to be a book source in game or npc text for a lot of stuff that is trade skilled yet few of the items give any indication of the base source of the recipes or expansion they are related to. Acrylia being used in Luclin recipe is just being taken for granted that people will know where it came from.

It was added to our item database in June of 2008 so during Secrets of Faydwer. Since it is tied to tinkering, SoF makes sense.

One of the recipes in this book is,

Gnomework Survival Suit Legs

The other item is Gnomework Survival Suit Torso.

It looks like some of these are marked as Seeds of Destruction though. That might be because these items weren't crafted until sometime in SoD although they most likely came from SoF.

Do you play on Phinny? If so, you can test out if these items are indeed SoF.
