Ornate Defiant Chain Tunic  

 

is the Stone Hive.

I went to all the places mentioned, and I never did see one of these drop.
However, I was wiping out the population of the stone hive for another quest and I got THREE of these.

Now I didn't get them all at once. I probably got 3 to drop over a week of 2-3 hour farm sessions.

They seem to be randomly possible off any bixie *inside* the hive, especially on the floor where the slaves are.

I know I got 2 there...and the third dropped off some mob on the way to the queen. Since I was training the zone and balling them all up for aoe, I'm not entirely sure who dropped what.

Having now laid waste to this zone a good couple dozen times, I can say that I've never seen any *other* ornate breastplate drop here (not even plate which is fairly common elsewhere). This would tend to leave me thinking that the whole "oh it can drop off any mob in the level range" story may not be so accurate...or that some mobs may still be more likely than others.

If I see another one drop, I'll be sure to take note of *exactly* which mob drops it.

Dropped from a twilight sea turtle......seems rare.
