Umm... doesn't it say her name is "Snow" throughout the quest directions and at the end?

Wow... next time try pressing the "Combine" button (as the quest walk-through says to do). You shouldn't be handing him the box with the memoirs in it... just the resulting book from the combine. The quest walk-through is correct.

Of course a poster should verify to give correct information only, but on the other hand: IMHO a walkthrough doesn't release you from thinking yourself. And why should I do a quest once more that results in a Lore item?

It's a common drop from Robed mobs in Akheva, and an uncommon drop from the tougher Centi mobs there too.
Has anyone seen this quest work?

I was told that this quest was patched sometime this summer. I just failed on my 4th attempt at this quest with-in the last month (Sept-Oct 02). Just wanted to warn people before they go off and try this. This quest may still not be working. Was told by a GM that they are looking into it (holding breath)

vs Hierophant's Cloak?
# May 22 2002 at 3:26 AM Rating: Decent
Which do you think is better for a wisdom based caster (a cleric in my case)? The extra Wisdom,AC and %5 meditation bonus is very nice for the CoT. But you lose the Mana, HP (the biggest loss in my opinion) and the general +4 stats increase from the Heirophant's Cloak. They're both listed as being roughly the same PP value.

A little heavy don't you think ? Just get an acrylia studded claok and clarity you'll be better off.
RE: vs Hierophant's Cloak?
# May 31 2002 at 5:58 PM Rating: Decent
There is no question in my mind that I would take the Heiro cloak. 5% meditate is rather worthless, IMO. If the med skill/10 = mana/tick formula is correct, that means at 200 med skill you get an extra 10 med skill = 1 mana/tick. Over the course of, say, a 2 minute fight, you would regen 120/6 = 20 mana because of this cloak. Sure, that adds up (every hour, assuming you are never FM, you get an extra 600 mana), but it isn't worth sacrificing the stats from the Heiro cloak, IMO. This is coming from a cleric perspective.

For wis casters, there are certainly better, but don't overlook the melees. 8 wis on a back item for melee is nice (tradeskills) and 15 AC and 10 Str on that same back item is even better. If it had saves as well, it would be really awesome.
RE: vs Hierophant's Cloak?
# Jul 08 2002 at 1:35 PM Rating: Decent
Point taken, but 1 mana per tick is exactly the same as FT1, right? Not many people running around saying FT1 is useless . . .
RE: vs Hierophant's Cloak?
# Jul 11 2002 at 6:38 PM Rating: Decent
This item is WORTHLESS to pure wis/int casters. Well, not worthless, but the 5% meditation will not let you exceed the hard cap of 252, which pure casters reach. Only hybrids and those whose skill is not maxed get any benefit out of this.

not really man.. think of it another way
to say that once you hit 255 or 252 hard that your done is silly.. if you are a smart player regardless of your class .. you will improve your gear in other areas.. this item can help do just that.. that 5% stacked with ft 10 now how you looking? makes a difference just depends on how its used.. yes as itself this item is not that important but when you change your gear.. get higher lvls of ft .. and are starting to worry more about hp gear ac gear resist gear things like that n your looking for ways to lose pieces of armor to be replaced by these items.. this item would come in handy.. imo.. this IS a nice item.. just need to use it appropriatly

Unlike stats, equipment has nothing to do with your meditation skill cap. Its not like int or wis items where you might swap them out for mana or resist gear as you upgrade. Once you hit 51 the cap raises from 235 to 252, which you will most likely hit during that level. Therefore, the +meditate is non functional after level 50 for casters. Nice cloak if you are a ranger or pally, or a lower level wis caster.

For those of us not yet 60 it provides a small boost in mana recovery and nice stats. It is also a questable item, as opposed to the Heiro Cloak which is camped. For my shaman the 75hp and 75 mana on the Heiro Cloak outweigh the extra AC and wis on this cloak. However, I am trying this quest because I enjoy questing.

# May 23 2002 at 12:39 PM Rating: Decent
I think you'd be in for a better deal with this cloak than the Hierophant's cloak in most cases (as a cleric). Having larger HP and Mana pools may be nice, but wouldn't the faster mana recovery (from the meditation increase) be more useful most time?

Well for clerics on raids they don't sit much, and in groups, cuase of sit agro, now if this worked on horse back out doors might be worthe it, but in doors nope. click sits, your have been summond, loding...
RE: vs Hierophant's Cloak?
# Jan 20 2004 at 12:20 PM Rating: Decent
I disagree, I have a 38 cleric who sits most of the time when grouping. You should use the Celestial line of spells as much as you can. Heal over time almost combats the damage done by mobs and no agro when cast. Then when fight is done, heal with normal heal spells. Yes there are time when I cant sit; multiple pulls, not enough room, etc, but I think you should re-examin how your using your cleric in group situations. I will be using this cloak till I max on Med.

Kinda apples and oranges, he says "raids" and he's including summoning, which you aren't typically goning to get at 38. I think you'll see: argo radii(spl), chain agro, DPS by NPC's and summoning etc. will greatly change what you will be able to get away with as you play your Cleric when you get to the circumstances he's refering to.
RE: vs Hierophant's Cloak?
# May 23 2003 at 2:10 PM Rating: Decent
It does work on horseback. Being on a horse counts as sitting, and thus invokes your med skill, that's why mana regen is fast on a horse.

Im a 60 shaman and did the entire quest by myself, cept the lockpick. Problem is, I got a second book from Peqi before the last fight, due to tha faction hit on The Truth, I cant do the quest a second time, any I deas on how to fix The Truth faction? Be a bummer to waste a second book due to this evil twist some ******* decided to put in making this quest only doable once.

As a shaman this wouldn't work for you, but if you are a class that can sneak. Sneaking works on Arbogast. Our Ranger had the same problem on trying to do the quest a second time. He just hit sneak and did the turn ins to Arbogast. Worked great.

RE: FACTION
# Jul 31 2002 at 3:58 AM Rating: Decent
Splashing water is not an option as you cannot get him to talk to you after you have done this quest once. A friend of mine just tried to repeat it last night and he wont speak to him even to get the flask of water. I think a Chanter is a must for this now.
RE: FACTION
# Dec 31 2002 at 10:33 AM Rating: Decent
No, you need to do the splashing of water before you finish the quest the first time. And you need to do it a horrible number of times.

If the charm trick works, do that instead.

Don't have the exact loc, but if you are leaving the caster's guild/library area, walk across the bridge and take the first right you can. Go to the 2nd little building on the right. There is a bed inside and a plant in the window if you are in the correct room.
RE: Oh really
# Apr 17 2002 at 7:17 AM Rating: Decent
Dude, your pick lock skill at level 49 is maxed at 200. That doesnt mean your skill will be 200 forever. Not sure, but I think a rogues max PL is 250. If your skill was 250 in PL, THEN you would not receive any bonus from the item.
RE: Oh really
# May 06 2002 at 2:45 PM Rating: Decent
max lockpick for a rogue is 215 and once you are lvl 50 you can raise it 2 points per lvl to 60. but once you hit 201 skill most high lvl doors become pickable
Too heavy? NO!
# Apr 11 2002 at 12:28 AM Rating: Decent
I just saw someone say it's 13 weight. too heavy. for a caster. But plz take look the stats, it give u +10 str which mean this cloak is only 3 weight totally.

Explain this then. I was a level 49 rogue with my picklock skill maxed at 200. I obtained Forhal's Gauntlets which have a +5% to picklock modifier. Without these gloves on, the seb doors I could not pick. However, with the gloves on, they opened right up? Tested in Sebillis and Karnor's on the door to Venril Sathir, and the bank vault in North Freeport. I remember this well, because I trapped several curios folk inside the bank vault.
RE: Oh reallY?

Sure, I will explain it for you. They mean the hard cap, not lvl cap. 200 is not the hard cap for lockpick, so...

Hope that clears it up for ya. Really.

As of right now the cloak of truth quest is broken. This spoken by the lead GM of Brell. Oribi said specifically not to turn the stuff in till after the next patch so I would advise anyone reading this to save themselves the trouble and wait.
RE: quest dont work on rathe
# Apr 18 2002 at 7:19 AM Rating: Decent
Quest isnt really broken, you just have to hand in the item to Miller instead of Arbogast, and they will walk to bank.

Had the same problem on Tarew Marr, until a GM told us to try it this way, and the quest worked.

This was confirmed by a Verant spokesperson quite recently. If you are maxed in ANY skill, a skill bonus will have no effect.

You can do the quest more than once, I have done it. The key is to do the first portions of the quest more than once. However, I did the quest twice through (since there was a zone repop when I was fighting the final battle and I lost abrogast) with no problems in faction.
20K price

I would think 20k for this idem is a little high especialy with a 13.0 wt and with the time and amout of people you need to do this quest I would think Lodizal shiled would be more woth the Effort and rewards not to mention being able to get a party for Lodi is much easyer due to drop table.
just my 2 cents
faction
# Jan 16 2002 at 11:24 PM Rating: Decent
ok, from what some friends are telling me, if you help someone kill these mobs you get a faction hit that prevents you from doing this quest yourself.. anyone else know if this is true and if so what can be done about this? thinking if you can do the trick posted about solo pulling them, time it so the other members in group camp out or something, and hope the solo'er wins it off, then log back in for the next mob.. dunno if that could be done and timed right without someone dying, but maybe.. just a thought anyways.. we have 5 people wanting this cloak, but kinda harsh if only one of us could actually get it if we all work together for it..
then again I could be wrong about this, like I said I was told this by a couple people and not fully validated yet =)

What would this do (if anything) to mana regen, with a 5% Meditate increase?
RE: Mana Regen?
# Jan 12 2002 at 4:55 AM Rating: Excellent
well, lets see. if your meditate skill is at 100, it acts like its 105. if its 200, its like its 210. 5% can go a long ways when your meditate skill is 230

by a bad wizzy shot, figured out a easier way to do the final fight with arbogast and miller, when they leave the bank...they will run around for a bit in the courtyard and then go back to the inn and stand at the table!! and guess what, you can single pull them from there and beat them down cowboy style one at a time, becareful though...arbogast did CH on himself 3x..took a while to take him down...but much easier without miller there wackin on the healers or tanks
