Mace & Armor?
# Dec 23 2001 at 8:15 AM Rating: Default
This cloak is for me. Gimme.

Anyone know the stats on the shimmering mace or the plate armor that supposedly drops off of Arbogast and Miller? And if they're No-Drop? It'd help to get a group to kill em if there were side benefits for coming along...

Thx
RE: Mace & Armor?
# Dec 24 2001 at 2:16 PM Rating: Excellent
Arbo dropped a Shimmering Mace. 6/24 +6 wis, +5 vsMagic, +5 vsPois. Had a unique look, the cleric in the group decided she'd like it.

No plate armor dropped, but 2 no rent swords did from Miller. (And of course the two pieces needed to combine into the Cloak of Truth)
Weight is a Non-Issue
# Dec 22 2001 at 4:53 AM Rating: Decent
Think of it like this, the weight is 3 and there is no strength bonus... Thats all you have to do. This is a very good item because it has all these stats and good AC for a cloak. Only class that it isn't for is a Monk.

But remember, STR does more then just affect your encumbered limit. It also affects your max and average damage when attacking.

So yes the 10 str does negate 10/13 wt. of the cloak, but it also benifits you during battle. :)
What's missing?
# Dec 21 2001 at 9:03 AM Rating: Decent
How come I didn't see anyone suggesting that this would be a nice Shaman back peice?

It's got AC, Str, and Wis. And a shaman won't mind the weight that much.\

Strenth Wasted
# Dec 20 2001 at 5:39 AM Rating: Decent
May as well be +0str with the weight being 13 the str is wasted
RE: Strenth Wasted
# Dec 20 2001 at 6:07 AM Rating: Decent
I would assume you are a caster. STR will raise the ATK rating, which will raise the damage done in non-casting attacks.
RE: Strenth Wasted
# Dec 20 2001 at 3:47 PM Rating: Decent
lol. Ya, 10 str would increase your dmg by about 1 dmg/2-5hits at best. Even whaling away at max haste and an 18 dly weapon, str is pretty much negligable. All that being said, this isn't too bad of a cloak....if it wasn't so heavy and involve interacting with a couple of goofballs for way too long.
RE: Strenth Wasted
# Dec 28 2001 at 9:50 PM Rating: Default
You also probably didn't know that str majorly increases backstab damage for a rogue. 10 str would make a sizable difference.

He did not address the dam per hit,,,he said attk. The bonus to str raises the attk rating which in turn means more hits. Obviously a hit will do more damage than a miss (procs excluded).
This is good for anyone

Come on people....what are you talking about???? this item is great for anyone...Myself being a warrior...what i wouldn't give for a 15ac +10str +5 dex cloak....+ other stats. Yes it is great for any wis caster...pally, cleric, druid, ranger..ect. My druid friend..pally friend...cleric friend...HELL all my EQ friends would love this for there character's.

Beside's..who are you to say what is good for one char or another? i'm lvl 38, fight in DL and see warriors with BANDED....YES BANDED!!! your telling me you wouldn't take this over a banded cloak any day?

sorry for my rambling....its 4:00am, but don't put something down for one class, cause its not ALWAYS gonna be true for EVERY certain Player that is not twinked
Any class
# Dec 20 2001 at 1:03 AM Rating: Decent
Quit arguing about what class this is for. This is a very good back item for any class except the monk. Great AC, strength bonus, wisdom bonus and a decent char and dex bonus give this a very wide appeal. Add the med bonus, and any caster will see noticeable benefits from this.

Other than monks, int casters may not find this very useful; it would still be nice, don't get me wrong, but I'm sure most would rather go for a cloak with less weight and an int bonus, even considering the high AC and med bonus.

Don't forget Chanters love cha. I am going to quest this as soon as possible, as in I am logging now to start. Great bonus and a great AC piece for an int caster. (Yes AC matters to us too) Wonderful piece, can't wait to get one.
Weight
# Dec 19 2001 at 5:12 PM Rating: Decent
Although the weight on this is quite a lot, I don't see anyone turning it away, except monks. As a druid, I can buff myself by much more than 3 points (the difference left when you factor in the STR), so I have no worries about equiping this, if I can complete the quest.
RE: Weight
# Dec 19 2001 at 8:28 PM Rating: Good
And no one mentions paladins. tsk tsk. AC, strength, and wis, are the three major paladin attributes. It doesn't seem paladins cross a lot of people's minds when considering who equipment is suited for though. It seems a running joke in these posts that anything light or weightless should go to a monk, but most classes have just one or two attributes to focus on. We paladins are challenged to keep a healthy balance between AC, str, wis, sta, and agi! An item like this is awesome for us because it's got 3 out of the 5 covered. By the way, with some of the new Luclin spells (like the 25% self-haste buff) and our much improved taunting, I think a lot of you are going to start to discover that paladins are worth grouping with after all.

I totally agree, and I am a rogue who wants this. The first thing I thought of when I read the quest, saw the stats and the NAME of the item, it had pally written all over it. I think if this was ever considered by verant to be a possible class quest, Pallies woulda been the class. I mean, C'mon, it's a Cloak of Truth, how much more goodie goodie can ya get.

I helped a pally killed peqi one night in SH just cause he was up and asked if I would help him. Methinks if it had been a druid I woulda ran in and beat the fellow down solo and be done with it =P

it doesn't matter which class this is best for. anyone can do the quest...so whoever wants it can just do it.
13 Weight!?!?

A Warrior? LOL, give this to a cleric! +8 Wis and at level 60 the +5% med bonus will regen an extra 1 mana per tick. Seeing as how cleric have no inate mana regen, they should drooling over this.
RE: 13 Weight!?!?
# Dec 20 2001 at 2:44 AM Rating: Decent
The +5% meditate does not affect your mana regen rate if it is capped at 252. I have tested this.
RE: 13 Weight!?!?
# Dec 19 2001 at 5:09 PM Rating: Decent
It is a waste to put on a warrior, they have no mana so the 5% meditate skill mod would be useless, this is much better for a paladin
RE: 13 Weight!?!?
# Dec 19 2001 at 7:04 PM Rating: Decent
Actually, i cannot see how it would be a "waste". seems to me, if a warrior/rogue/ranger/anything else WITHOUT MANA got together e group, went through the quest, and received this item, it would not be considered a "waste". Suer, there are LOTS of better items. HOWEVER, unless you are in a power guild that lives in sleepers tomb, considers the warders a mild diversion, and kills the entire set of kunark dragons for a morning warmup, you are not likely to get one of the "better" items. Sure the meditate is nice, but WOW, i like those stats. And i would be kinda irritated if i went through the quest, and someone told me i should give it up, as it would be a "waste" for me.

Kunark dragons! LOL! Ok the sleepers tomb scares me a lil... just because we need more keys.

Still a nice cloak though.. I have friends not in my guild that could really use an item of this caliber... and even some of the newer clerics in my guild... it should not be scoffed at... it is a good reward for a minor amount of work... and would be improvment to alot of players 50+

Maybe I'm reading your post wrong, but rangers do indeed have mana. Also, there are far better cloaks for warriors that are cheaper and easier to get that don't take near the resourses you discribe. =)

Ancient Seahorse Hide cloak comes to mind. If you're looking for a rocking warrior cloak, check that one out.

read it wrong, one of my best friends is a ranger, and would personally strangle me if i said rangers didn't have mana =)
i COULD have typed a little clearer, but i am on one of those servers were rangers, paladins, and shadowknghts are more or less worthless, and i hafta vent a little about them deserving nice gear too =)
