This has to be the biggest improvement to the game since it was released. Finally, a gauge for twinking!

I hope to hell they put these limits on all items eventually. Not just special items, or 50+ items.

I understand alot of you reading this are saying 'WTF?' but the truth is, twinking does alot more damage to the game than good. It makes lower levle encounters less risky, and the rewards from those lower encounters trivial.
It keeps you from experiencing the game as it was intended to be played. That's not cool.

I'm not against twinking at all, I just think it needs to be moderated so you can't twink items that are +10 levels over your level. That way banded armor has a use, and fine steel plate will actually be used. Oh, and all the items from Orginal EQ will actually have a use now, instead of 'tossing that crap to a mule/twink'.

YAY Recommended levels!

In a way, I believe in twinking, however only to an extent.
I would never buy or loot an RBG and put it on a level 5 character. I have pretty much limited myself to no more than about 10k to twink a character, or if I loot it myself.
My warrior is far from uber twinked (he does not have CoF, Lammy's, Jade Mace, RBG, etc- but he does have CSS, GJBS, FBSS) but he definitely gets the job done.
My beastlord is the only one I have not really twinked much, only due to the fact I am not sure if I will like him or not. I have spent maybe 2k on him.
You can twink and still have fun, but twinking too much and it winds up getting boring for you, and for the group you may be in....

Bah there is nothing wrong with twinking.I have suffered thru the long boring lower lvls once why should I have to spend that much time and fustration again on them.Twinking is great fun IMO.If you dont want to twink becuz it hurts the game in your opinion then DONT twink bnut dont ruin the fun of those of us who like to twink a character or 2.

Like many mobs in EQ ... I AM AN UNDERCON ..At lev 20, something that cons even to me should be a even fight, not a corpse run for me 30 seconds after the fight starts. As a warrior I could afford stacks of bandages at level 1. Downtime has been reduced by a HUGE margin being able to fight for exp at 1/2 health then bandaging. I also dont need to run to town every 10 min to sell my rusty weapons , been there...done that...

Excellent Post!, my sentiments exactly!!! I have already spent my time in "No-Item Purgatory", and refuse to do that again. I started playing the game within a week of it coming out, and remember having a 10th level ShadowKnight with a collection of cloth, patchwork and rawhide armor. I remember the constant struggles, the deaths and experience loss, the sheer frustration...

These things were not fun. I get enough of that crap in my real life, at my job. (Well, except for the deaths...heh.) Who then, would want to come home and experience the same torment? I still die occasionally, still have bad pulls, still play with idiots who do not know how to play their class... but having better equipment makes the game more fun for me. Fine, you do not like twinking, then don't do it. But for me, I figure I have already put my time in, and do not wish to do so again...

I equate it to being kinda like basic training for the military. Most people go through it, learn what they're teaching you, and then move on to bigger and better things. I don't know anyone who has gone through it, said, "Hey that was a big pain the rear end, hard as hell, and truly sucked! I think I would like to do it again!"

Well... yes and no. My smith is at lvl 20 with almost 40 days played. All the rest of his days have been spent at the forge or looking for paddings. Any decent +int items that are put up on open roll in the standard NBG that I win go to him. With the levels needed for the controlling attribute being so dern high and no way of true alternate advancement, twinking a crafter is, IMHO, necessary. :-(

However, I understand what you are saying. Someone who doesn't know how to play *that* class may or may not have problems, but they don't usually show up until the later levels.

Just my 2cp here,

Ehryk Gavyn
lvl 54 Dark Elf Warrior
