As of Thursday, March 7th, there are no owlbears to be found on the moon of Luclin. The caves in the Moor are empty and Yelloweyes in PC is gone. Confirmed this myself with no one else in Hollowshade...no owlbears. Anyone know what happened to them and is this quest still doable with the pelts that are still out there?
The reason that the Rallic pack is being listed as NO DROP, is due to the fact that you have a NO DROP item in the bag. Any container will list as NO DROP if a NO DROP item in contained within it. Remove the item, and then check the bag status again. It will now list as just LORE ITEM. Hope this helps.
I was just playing today and noticed that this pack was now listed as no drop. Also have had a friend that was camping the runner the last two days and has not seen him at all.
Woohoo!! I did this with the Invisibility trick. I'm dubious so nobody talks but I load the pack in te trade window, had a friend cast invisibility then I gave it.
To tailor the pack, you need the pattern given by Rallic for the runner's pouch.
You also need some shadeling silk thread and shadeling silk cord and a Perfect owlbear pelt.
sh. silk thread = 2 shadeling silks (dropped from the Xakra worms in Shadeweaver's Thicket and the Pit in Shar Vhal)
sh. silk cord = 3 sh. silk threads combined.
The perfect owlbear pelt drops on any owlbear, but the best place is of course the owlbear cave in Hollowshade.
The tailoring skill for the pack is ZERO. Skill for the threads is at most in the teens and probably are successful most of the time earlier than that.
Even though the Pack is Lore, if you happen across the runner and get his pouch again, simply collect all the other items, head to N. FP and sell the one you have(around 2K-2.5K on Veeshan currently) and create another on the spot.
Was wondering if anyone could step by step the Tailoring part of this quest please.
I have finished camping rares in owlbear cave and have 5 perfect pelts and found this quest but have 1 point in tailoring but have no idea on what to do for the tailoring part.
Also if you can add where you buy the tailoring suppies from this would be much appreciated.
OK, hopefully you've figured this out by now, but if not, here are a couple of details..
Firstly buy yourself a large sewing kit, available in building 8 on the SharVahl(upper) map from the www.eqatlas.com site.
Next get your silks from Shadeweaver's Thicket, I have found them on Lesser Shades, but other mobs have them too, such as Xakra Silkworms. You need 8 in total.
Put 2 silks in your sewing kit, combine to make 1 thread, now put this into another bag for later.
Next, do the same til you have 4 silk threads altogether. Now put 3 of those threads in the sewing kit & combine again to give you 1 cord, plus your 1 thread left over.
**Note before doing this last part make sure you have a slot free in your inventory in which to put your Rallic Pack when it is made**
Lastly put your 1 cord, 1 thread, perfect owlbear pelt & rallic pattern in your sewing kit & hit combine, and there you have it.
For more info on Tailoring and the other trade skills, check out the skills section & the skills discussion section on this site, both are good, and the skills section has links to other sites as well.
I'm not sure when this went in, but as of 1/31/02 the packs are No Drop... I just looked at mine and did a double take. I had a friend give it to me previously so it kinda shocked me.
Then I'd love to know why mine is No Drop now :) It was a gift from a friend (and thus I know it was dropable) but now it clearly reads no drop, and it is a Rallic Pack - I'm sure of that.
Yes, this is 10slot and its 85% wr and it only weighs 1.0...yes, I have just read some comparisons to the EE bag which is 8slot and 75% wr and weighs 3.0 (as do tailored backpacks which only are 10% wr)...
But this holds GIANT sized items! I am not certain about Tinker bags, but even if they CAN hold giant items this is still MUCH easier to get and almost as useful, and much cheaper! A shame its still Lore though...D'OH! ;)
Tinkers do hold Gaint size items, As a 55 monk, it'd take me only 1 day to get the money to buy a tinkers bag in rathe mountains off the giants much better than this bag.
Um, the bag I got from the quest is no drop, yet it seems to be droppable by everyone else. Did they change it, or did I somehow slip into an alternate universe?
The bag in NOT no-drop, you may have a no-drop item in the bag, which would make the bag say no-drop. I just did the quest on the 31st of Dec. BTW I'm on MT server. Did quest at 36 very easy.
The Grimling Runner is easy to kill. I got jumped at 2 bubs of health and no mana and managed to take him out with a bub of health left (He conned blue to a 46 Ranger btw) Just my luck I happened upon him when I was naked on a corpse run, and yes I was able to take him out again with puny ranger spells. I made this bag 3 times now at less than 15 tailoring skill.
At 38 you would not have a problem with the mobs, HOWEVER you most likely will need to do A LOT of faction work as Rallic will be KoS. I would suggest bringing a friend along to loot the Pack and Turn it in to get the pattern.
38 necro should have zero problems soloing any part of this quest. As a 39 ranger I killed 19 owlbears in the Hollowshade cave in about 35 minutes with very little problem. They don't flee and anyone over 35+ will resist their Screech stun 90% of the time. The runner is immune to movement impeding spells, but when he ran, I dropped him with 2 call of lightning (99dd).
Well, first days after the Luclin came out, I decided to go to TM running all the way from the nexus just to sight see. I zoned in to TM and saw a bunch of bat, blue to me, so I decided to turn around. At that time, the runner jumped me at the cave entrance. I couldn't root him but managed to bring him down (Clerics don't do solos well but I managed). Got the pack off him and not knowing what it was for, I just destroyed it. I wish I have kept it. I think I will go back for it for this quest.
According to EQTraders, at this date the trivial on the combine for this quest is equal to or below 97 (and this is sure to drop as more and more people report their relative skill levels)
I was a 0 tailor going in. I made the cords and threads for 3 bags so I was 12 when I tried the first bag. Not trivial, successful. Same with second. Third bag was successful and raised my skill to 13.
This is a horribly easy quest to do. I tried selling one of these packs for a couple hours. No one on 7th hammer would offer more than 800pp for it. If you can get 3k+ for it, more power to ya :)
Nice Lil item, I remember trading a blue diamond for a Box of Nil Space a while back. This is definitely one I'ma go after next. I may be a Shaman, but hell. More room and weight allowance is always good. And I have to agree on the price, the main reason I never went and just filled up on Tink bags was I can get my Str so high I prolly never be encumbered. It's a pain though, so SOME weight reduction is helpful so I don't have to cast VoB just to get to the bank. And with the savings, there's lots you can get. *Like a Centi Longsword for my twink LOL*
when i first looked at it i saw a 10slot 0%reduc bag with 1 weight and saw 3kpp price. i thought i was just really tired till i read the posts and saw 85%reduc....now its definatly worth 3kpp or even more.....
Nah,,you're wrong.. this is 10 slot..EE is 8. And EE is 3.0 weight where as this one is only 1.0. It is very nice for Monkies and very nice for just about everyone. Contact me on Mith Marr..BELTRON. I'll sell it to you... 3K :) I'd rather have a Tinkers but then again..I'd rather have the extra 2K to buy other things with.
