Chitinous Belt

So I was wandering around Greater Faydark with a lvl6 Druid that I had just created, and behold! a GM Event. I was very excited because this is the first time I have seen/participated in this. The loot was this belt, the very stylish Brown Chitin Leggings and 500pp. I must say that it was very worth my time.
Good for Farming!

I got one of these a while ago ( maybe 3 months ) as a replacement for my Flayed Turmoilskin Belt ( AC 9 +6 DEX +5 WIS ) and I think I paid around 1k or so. Definately one of the better belts a shaman can get for the money. I now have close to 1000 AC self buffed from upgrading to items like this, or I can drop my AC to around 900 and get all 5 of my resists in the 130-150 range before spell buffs. I dont have uber gear either save for my JBB and Lodi sheild, all the rest of my gear cost less than 2k per slot or can be camped by a single group of level 55ish people. Just wanted to say that upgrading 4-5 AC per item can really add up over time...

The belts are very common and the prices are coming down fast. I blew out my remaining stock of them (6) for this very reason @500p each. This morning I checked the bazaar and there were 18 of them for sale, a VERY high drop rate is going to drive the price down. A Great little item but there are a ton of them on the market.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 03 2002 at 5:49 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) No way is this a good beastlord item. There are MUCH better items available, such as:

******... Axgoreth's is A) No Drop, and if you're on FV B) Several thousand in plat. Chitinous Belt is a cheap alternative with great stats for the price.

You forgot to mention, Mr. Tipop, that the Axegoreth's Belt of Defense is NO DROP and that it drops in Maiden's Eye. Those are big setbacks to just anyone getting one, not to mention what they drop from (level 60 Akhevans).

13 AC, 5 STR/STA/WIS and 10 SVD is incredible for a belt you can get for as low as 495p. While yes, you could argue that the ABoD is free, you have to look at the risk factor when determining cost. This is a GREAT upgrade to the Crystalline Belts that I frequently see around the waists of Beastlords.

Yes, there are way better, but keep attainability for all in mind when you go and bash an item like you did.
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 10 2002 at 11:59 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Um. Axegoreth's belt of defense is ALL ALL. This is a very nice belt... Not as good as Axegoreth's, but more common, and easier to get. Maiden's eye is filled with newbies 95% of the time, and newbies = trainage. These go for around 1500pp in bazaar... so I would definatly say that these are easier to get. =P

Ax belt is not all all. It's melee classes only. (No casters what-so-ever. melee and hybrids). 20ac 15str 15wis. If this was priest caster useable, wouldn't you think EVERY wis caster pre-high end luclin would have one?
Good Market retain value
# Dec 17 2001 at 9:36 AM Rating: Decent
So many classes can benefit from this item, I can see it keeping an excellent market value. From rangers to monks to all wis casters this item will be excellent as "throw in" on trades or just plain market.
Shik`nak Royal Guards..

It drops of Shik`nak Royal Guards in Fungus Grove.
They are either lvl60 or 61 but quite easy.

I've been watching this item for a couple of weeks at the bazaar on Mith Marr, angling to get one at a good price. The price range is usually about 900-1100 pp; it's not uncommon to see one for 800 pp. I have in the past seen a couple going for 500-600 pp, presumably from people desperate to unload their stock.

I picked up two ofthem, off a guy with 6 for sale. paid 500pp each for them. Can finally upgrade my cleric and druid, who both were wearing Girdle of the holy wanderer, obtained during a GM event.

I paid 1k last night in Bazaar, highest price there was 1,500. I think it's worth more than that myself, but hey...
RE: pricing
# Feb 17 2002 at 6:01 PM Rating: Decent
well i would have to say over 1k because a smiters girdle AC: +10 Str: +3 Sta: +3 Agi: +3 Dex: +3 Wis: +3 Int: +3 Cha: +3
Weight: 2.5
is worth 1k and this has higher ac and higher wis and is druid useable the other one im refered to is not druid usable but I have it on my pally. And I would trade mine for this belt any day. Just my thoughts on the matter. 1k-2k but no more then that, maybe less if more get on the market, luclin is still pretty new and not a lot of people up there.
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 14 2001 at 9:55 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) 650-800pp
Dreamweavervine Garland
# Dec 14 2001 at 4:17 PM Rating: Decent
Bah this is better than the Dreamweavervine Garland (+5 wis) from Plane of Fear. Only problem I can see is that its not no drop (I play on Rallos),and the Garland is. Otherwise, Id sell my soul for it. (dont line up necro's, my soul aint for sale!!!....well maybe for trade 8P)

#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 14 2001 at 10:48 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Pretty sure Dreamorvine is 8 wisdom.
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 15 2001 at 12:46 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) no Dweamorvine is 5wis 8agi
RE: Dreamweavervine Garland
# Dec 17 2001 at 5:02 PM Rating: Decent
Ummm...I know the Dreamwevorvine belt is 5 wis 8 agi..... My point was this Chitinous Belt is much better with exception of no drop. AC 13 protects better against melee damage, Stamina adds to that and Hitpoints, plus 10 sv vs disease and all this with equal Wis. If this Chitinous Belt was No Drop (because I play on Rallos Zek) Id gladly trade it in...

Not really economical for melee
# Dec 14 2001 at 3:30 PM Rating: Default
This one has dr00d writtin all over it, maybe SHM or BST but who else would need the other not so great stats... and its going to be expensive because they can use it... so for that price maybe 4-5k any melee could get a TBB, Spider Fur Belt, Silken Cat Fur Girdle for a little more, or an FBSS. Plus if you're not considering FBSS I'd only use the stat belts if I had a pair of silver chittin handwraps. Hybrids can get their wisdom elsewhere, though I can still see someone out there wearin this, like he won the lotto in his exp group and his equip was kinda shabby anyway.

But yes, a cleric could buy a belt of the cenobite, and maybe shammys have other similar belts out there like flayed turmoil skin belts.

And if it dropped on a guild raid, everyone would probably have the better belts except the druid with a reed belt or something.
RE: Not really economical for melee
# Dec 16 2001 at 12:45 PM Rating: Default
If I had a choice between this belt and the Cenobite, I'd choose this belt as a cleric. In 50 levels of playing a cleric, I've found that 3 things are very useful; Wis, AC, HP. This belt gives up 2 Wis, adds 8 AC, and extra HP due to the +5 Sta.

As a Dwarven Cleric, I'd only rank about 7 belts above this one if you need Wis on your belt. 3 from ToV, 1 from Fear, and 3 from Kael. I've never been to ToV or Fear, am Dwarf aligned, and doubt I will ever kill King Tormax or the Dain. Thus, this is probably about the best belt I will ever have a chance of seeing and I would roll on it in a heartbeat.

This belt is good for any class that can use it.

Edit: Can't add 3+3+1=7 not 6.

RE: Not really economical for melee
# Dec 17 2001 at 5:56 AM Rating: Good
This belt does indeed have nice AC. Flayed iksar girdle is 6ac 8stam 8wis 30 mana. Cobalt drake is 8ac 5 stam 8wis 5mana 4 save cold. I rank both these belts above this one. I would how ever wear it if I already didn;t have the 2 above. I think the extra mana is more helpful than the few adds AC. Some people like more ac, some like more mana. Each to his own, glad they make gear for both types.
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 15 2001 at 12:50 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You're probably right, druids will most likely be the primary owners of these. As a 56 halfling druid I'm still wearing a crystalline belt from CC. Finding a better belt is notoriously difficult for halfling druids. None the less, stats are pretty good for all the listed classes. I'm sure all the melee types wouldn't wear it if that was their haste item slot though. If I had to guestimate what these will sell for.. prolly around 5k. Item prices are pretty funny things really. Alot of people seem to have this notion that items drop with suggested retail prices. I say 5k because if I had the money on me, that's about what I'd be willing to pay for them.
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 16 2001 at 7:49 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) yeah, well i am a 30 druid, and i have a girdle of the holy wanderer, 5 wis and some other stuff, very nice, and i got in gm event
RE: Not really economical for melee
# Dec 14 2001 at 10:37 PM Rating: Good
Personally I don't think has any class written all over it. The AC is very good for wisdom belt. It covers all of the prime stats for many classes.
And unlike the cenobite belt you mention, which can only be used by small races, this is a all race belt. So I guess the answer is really Need Before Greed.
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 14 2001 at 1:57 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ya its ALMOST the same as troll but this is WAY better.....
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 14 2001 at 1:12 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) an upgrade to Troll Hide Belt...?
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 14 2001 at 1:32 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Yeah, except it can be used by a lot more classes... too bad. =)
