<<<Ranger, NO Double Attack, They do get Duel Weild though, with epics they are Capable of dealing alot of dmg, and are arguable close to Warriors Dmg wise with epics, and can out do them with a Bow throwen in the mix.>>

Funny you should say that, My ranger has double attack.

With my epic it was funny that I was able to outdamage 62 epic monk at lvl 55 who immediately tried to KS my pull in Seb. message goes you have gained experience. Sweetest thing was I was able to loot a Sibilisan berserkers cloak on that kill, won the roll, and now don't have to totally depend on my epic for haste. Now I can use 2HS and have decent haste and stats if need be.

Rangers do get double attack, and with AA points can even get tripple attack. Have a nice day folks.

FLAME ON: Natchodaddy let me just say you are a ******, You said you out damaged a 62 Monk as if it was just you aginst the monk, but then you said you won the random. So who was you rolling aginst? Your self? I think you had help getting the KILL and there was no way in hell you could get the exp on it solo. Even with your epic.....Fat chance!
These work great

If you use your own spell "shrink" on your pet, your pet will only shrink a little bit. If you try and recast it on your pet, there is no effect. When using these boots, click your "shrink" on your pet and recast it again. This will drastically reduce your pets size even more. You can make your level 60 Lion, change into a kitten.

With the levek 60 pet, they are extremely large pets. In most grouping situations, you will be asked to shrink your pet because the MA cant see the mob because your pet has him butt in there face.

everyone here is complaining on the stats, yada yada yada. These aren't meant to be worn during battle; keep them in the backpack and use them when needed to save you mana and a spell slot. I've got Mrylokar equipment for my rogue not because of the AC (only piece I wear is the breastplate). I carry the rest in a backpack and equip them when I need to use the right click.
RE: not crap
# Oct 04 2002 at 9:39 AM Rating: Decent
I have to agree with Derrict, these items are for placing in a backpack for saving yourself mana or emergencies. Another thing is, these do not drop off of super rare spawns in level 60+ zones that require massive raids to get, nor are they items that require hours of camping and questing to obtain. They are drops off of mid-high level mobs in zones you will probably be visiting anyways (not to mention they are not No Drop, so you can buy/sell them). If you want Beast only armor with great AC and stats, along with effects, you're going to have to work for it. Look at the Beast Mastery armor. The boots for example are:
Boots of Beast Mastery
AC 12, Sta 5, Wis 4, Agi 3, HP 35, Mana 25, svC 1, svP 1, svM 2
Effect: Shrink
Now compare these boots to the sandals above. The difference is the Boots of Beast Mastery are harder to get, and for your extra effort you are rewarded with better boots. So, VI has given you a choice. If you are the kind of person who would rather buy an item or spend minimal effort getting it, you have the Sandals. But, if you are the kind of person who will quest and spend a lot of time to get a good item, you have the Boots. Personally I agree with what VI is apparently trying to do here, which is, reward those people who put forth the extra effort and quest. The name of the game is EverQUEST after all...
Just my 2 cents, and if ya don't like it you can bite me where the sun don't shine!

I'm a 46 Vah Shir Beasty on the Sulon Zek PvP server. I've read some of the posts here and would have to agree that on a blue server these sandals would be a waste of money. However, especially since the new rule that you can shrink anywhere has come into play, I cast shrink whenever I move into a PvP zone. Why, you ask? Well, if you've ever played a relatively large race in PvP, you'll know what I mean when I explain this.
As a Good, I often get ambushed by tiny evil or neutral races. The first I know I am being attacked is I see me beeing hit in the chat box and my HP winding down very rapidly! I look around and can't see who or what is doing the damage :( Its usally after I've been pretty well damaged that I finally spin and LOOK DOWN to find the quite leathal midget PKer who is assaulting me. This time wasted trying to find my attacker can mean life or death in PvP. That's why I have shrink on whenever I can. It brings me closer to their level so that I can find and target them much sooner.
Another reason to add is that shrink gives YOU the very same advantage against large races as the midgets have :P You become VERY dificult to find, much less target. At a distance, anyone's chances of seeing you is greatly reduced as well. These reasons are also why no one EVER says no when I offer to shrink them! Since I use shrink so much, it makes sense that I have these sandals and sacrifice the other stats I could have in this slot for them. I likley save several hundred mana per session just because of them. Right now, those sandals probably average 600-800pp on Sulon Zek. I know I paid to much for them, but I wanted them NOW, not after I'd died several more times without them. Can anyone else vouch for what I've said here?

46?!!! Feel like an idiot for buying them now, only reason I bought them was because I thought I could get acess to shrink before lvl 30. Heck, if they can't proc until 46, it's a useless piece of garbage, is what it is. Better stuff drops in NL where you can fight in the 20's. And the effect is utterly useless.. BL's can cast shrink at 30 anyway. And don't tell me "this will save them a spell slot" or "this saves mana." Firstly, you can cast shrink upon entering the zone you want to be shrunk in, as well as on anybody in your group, then forget the spell and put something else there. Shrink lasts indefinitely, you don't lose it until you die, log off, or leave the zone. As for mana, shreink takes next to no mana relative to how much you'd typically have at 30 anyway. Utter piece of garbage, don't know why the average price is so high. You wasted money paying 250pp for these. I wasted money even paying 150.

I really hope the proc on these is lower than 46. If the proc isn't lower than 30 this item is utterly worthless. I have seen a post on here that someone was able to use the effect as low as 17, hope that's right.

Ive seen these going for 500p on TP quite often. Most of the Kunark BL armor has such horrible ac. I really hope that verant throws the BL a bone, they are the new rangers (screwed over).

# Mar 31 2002 at 4:58 AM Rating: Default
I must say while these are fairly lame most of the armor for clerics is too. But at least we get good ac. Just today I got a chance to loot Donal's Boots and I passed because there was no way I was going to wear those peices of junk. Vambraces same way. Only good for buffing in newbie zones. Helm or bracers cannot say anything about as I don't have them but so far as I remember not really worthwhile. The gauntlents are the only really sweet piece outside of legs and bp(like I have a shot at getting those). Being able to cast Armor of Faith mana free is a huge savings.

6ac, 0.4wt, effect:shrink (which we can cast anyway as mentioned, though is rarely useful enough to worry about saving a spell slot)

This item is purely and simply not good enough. Before i created my beastlord i went and collected for him a full set of spore covered armor from netherbian lair fungoids (i'd estimate them at level 20-25). The boots i got from those mobs are : 6ac +1 Agi 0.4wt. I would prefer to wear these over the wild lords boots... and they drop off a level 20ish mob! (not even a rare mob at that, any fungoid simply titled 'a fungoid' will drop any piece of spore covered armor. Not to mention the upgrades i could no doubt attain between then (if you got it legitamately) and 50ish when you hit Karnors.

Beastlord class armor seems to have fallen into the same trap as monk armor. The specific armor is simply not good enough to wear, so we end up wearing considerably better all/all items. Keeping in mind us BST's dont even have to watch our weight and why on earth would we wear wild lords? IMHO these boots need to be upgraded to at LEAST 10ac, and probably more like 14. (as a comparison to a lower AC melee class, the ranger, their Tolans boots is 18ac) The rest of the Wild Lords stuff needs to be upgraded to match. And no, i dont already own a pair of these. Why would i waste my money?

ummmm... effect SHRINK... for any soloing class that would want to fight in places like Droga or such, these are a GREAT tool... besides, most Beastlords I see are usually playing Cleric to their pets, where their AC is needed about as much as a Mage's.

I do have sympathy for you, though. As an Iksar, my plate restriction keeps me from getting some nice AC gear as a ShadowKnight. Which means I can't even USE the effects on Blood Ember... remember though, don't base the set on the boots alone... besides, Verant may patch these some time later, as I'm sure they don't want people thinking that Beastlords are going to be their new "favorite child."

No, they arent a great tool. If you look at the Beastlord spell list, you will see that we can cast shrink at level 30. All these boots do is save us from memming the spell. Using your soloing argument, memming one spell once every however long shrink lasts (from memory somewhere between 30 and 45 minutes). The boots effect is a convenience, and not a great one at that.

Also, i'm not judging my opinion on the boots alone. Heres some more info on the rest of the set :
Wild Lord's Bracer 5AC 0.2Wt effect:Furious Strength
Wild Lord's Crown 4AC 0.6Wt
Wild Lord's Gauntlets 8AC 0.5Wt
Wild Lord's Sandals 6AC 0.4Wt effect:Shrink
Wild Lord's Sleeves 8AC 0.6Wt effect:Turtle Skin (get spell at level 30)
Wild Lord's Trousers 6AC 5Str 5Sta 5Agi 5Dex 8Wis 10Mana 0.5Wt effect:Health (get spell at level 52)
Wild Lord's Tunic 14AC 5Str 8Sta 5Agi 5Dex 9Wis 60HP 20Mana 0.5Wt effect:Bramblecoat

Out of those items, none have AC better than what i'm already wearing except the tunic and sleeves. All my armor can be hunted for untwinked during your 20's. Out of those items i may wear the tunic IF i was playing pet cleric, but i'd like to have it in my pack for the clicky effect anyway. Otherwise by the level i could be awarded one i'd be wearing at least a treeweave (25AC). Same goes for sleeves, you'd have at least azure (12ac) by then.

We are a melee class when it comes to groups/raids. The bracer is equal AC to what i have now (at level 19) but i'd like the bracer for the furious strength clicky since we never get that spell. The other pieces i may keep in a pack IF they have an effect, just to save mana. Would never wear em.

So no. I didnt judge the whole set purely on the boots. The whole set frankly isnt good enough (which i did mention in my first post). We are not a mage, not even close. We can take some hits. In groups we're a melee class, where AC is as needed as any other. In addition to that our melee damage isnt worthless either. You may not realize it, but it is COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE to have the pet tank while you melee a mob. As soon as you are in range the mob will attack you regardless of how much hate the pet has built. That was a nerf from some time back. (if this wasnt so beastlords would be insanely powerful though ;) ) Its also why i place value in AC above a 'caster suit' full of wis/mana and low on AC.

On a lighter note, dont worry bout your AC, it will get a lot better. The Velious quest plates arent restricted from Iksar and your AC really improves as you acquire pieces of that. Can start with frosty velium if you dont have better before moving to quest armors. My brothers an Iksar warrior, and the only time he regretted it was from about 45-50 when his armor was lagging behind other people getting upgrades. An yes, i'm sure theres still many improvements to come for beastlords ;)

Just thought I would point out that the Wild Lord Gauntlets have an effect as well. Summon Companion. I'd have to look up the crown to see if it has one. Someone was selling the gauntlets in DL the other day. Wanted 1k for them. Considering the AC and the effect, I passed on it. Might have payed 500, but not 1k.

The only races that can become a Beastlord are large races. If you want to go into various dungeons, such as Sol A or whatever, it can be quite handy to shrink to a suitable size to get through the tunnels.

Iksar are only a medium race, and they can be beastords, so you're wrong about only large races being them. You're right about the usefulness of shrink though. It's especially helpful on dungeon raids for getting around everynbody to get in melee range of the mob.

About Wild Lord's armor...
# Jan 23 2002 at 3:20 AM Rating: Excellent
in actuality this stuff is Crap for the level that is required to get it...Low AC and no stats. I realize that no one's class specific armor (minus bp and legs) have additional stats besides the cool procs, but they do at least have good AC. Sure my SK can cast gather shadows, fear, yada, yada, yada...the reason i wear Blood Ember armor is because of the AC, not the procs. But the Procs do not hurt the armor in the least! I don't complain that i get to invis myslef for FREE from now on...or that i can Darkness/Fear for free...! Just b/c these spells are castable before the armor is aquirable doesn't make the procs useless or any less good. I think the reason this stuff isn't too good is b/c EQ is getting old now...everyone (minus a few) has a relitively high level char that can aquire this armor (don't flame me for that comment, i realize there are plenty of new players) and Beastlords are Brand New. Hence this stuff is just gonna be Twinked down to a baby Beastlord anyway. From what i read it is all clickable from 9+ (maybe lower), kinda suggesting that verrant had that intention for this armor. Also it's cruddy enough for people that don't want to twink that they can just hand it to a brand new player's beastlord! how cool would that be? *laugh

Then again...What the H3LL do i know? =P

Beastlords arnt a heavy melee class, they are more caster then anything. They are leatherbased with the AC of a monk. They dont get double attack and will never be front-line melee's. They're a pet dependant class and a hybrid to boot. Verant made a big mistake with this class as of now... They will probably fix this down the road... hopefully.

I do hope that their lvl 59 clarity like spell stacks with c2, otherwise I really don't see anything that they bring to the game that no other class has to offer and better.

I have a level 50 Beastlord on the Drinal server. Your complaint about us being a "mage" is weak. I melee, my pet melees, i slow, i dot, i buff the group, we are PURE damage dealers not healers not medding fools of any sorts. Don't mock this class before you play it i can outdamage most "tanks" except monks but if you add the damage of my pet i outdamage any melee class. My pet hits for 53 consistently quadding and kicking, bashing/stun, and proc for 60's i hit for 60's up to par with my pet and kick for 25-30's so tell me how horrible did Verant do? heh
RE: *sigh*

I'm sorry Ziguld, i respect your opinion, but you are just plain wrong.
The beastlord class is a highly offensive class that makes a big impact in any group. They are NOT tanks, so get that through your dense skull and repeat it. Stop comparing them to tanks.

"They're a pet dependant class and a hybrid to boot."

You fail to mention that their pet is easily as powerful as a necro or mage pet, and along with their pet buffs (haste, str, atk.. not to mention DD procs) it becomes a serious damage dealer. And they have the heal spells to back their pet up.
Without their pet, they can stand in and melee suprisingly well (imagine a necro or mage trying to melee a 50+ mob), and their buff spells are just an added bonus. Add their pet to the equation and you have a serious offensive force.
I have seen a lot of peeps like Ziguld running their mouths off about how BL's suck, but they are usually just low level mages that feel threatened by the new class. If you think BL's suck so much, why don't you make one for yourself. You'll realize that they are a very enjoyable class to play and they have a lot to offer to any group...

(btw they are amazing when it comes to soloing)

They are not heavy melee... did they get double attack added? do they the potential to put out considerable melee damage? I never compared a Beastlord to a Warrior(aka tank), but I will state it again, DOUBLE ATTACK. Aproximatly 75% of damage delt out through duelweild is from your primary hand. I dont care if a Beastlord gets some 16/19 h2h weapon (which will goto a monk), they are not front line fighters. They lack the actually melee damage output, ac and hp to be anywhere near 'frontlines'. A necro or Mage trying to melee a mob? well **** someone needs to teach them about nukes.

Why take a beastlord to NToV? just so some warder can get hit by an AE around the wall on a bad pull and then bring Zlex and adds? I am not a low lvl mage so dont even try and assume I feel threatened by a new inadequate class. What does a beastlord bring to the game? Badass pet? nah not gonna happen Magi's are the masters of summonings, sure the Beastlord pet is strong but it wont be anything like an epic magi pet... Hell pets arent even allowed to be used in high end game most of the time. Will they bring some incredable buffage? see above in my post how I said I hope that their 59th clarity like spell somehow stacks with regular. Will their 60th level mini focus stack? well im betting not, heck Warders protection or Cloak of Ankeva(sp? lvl60SK one) dont stack for **** and those are the 'premium' for hybrid buffs.

Am I just plain wrong? maybe, but I have yet to see a Beastlord offer anything that another class cannot already do and better.

You said you respect my opinion, yet your words say otherwise.

(btw Necro's are amazing solo'ers yet whine about being twitchers, Magi's are amazing solo'ers yet whine about not being able to use their pets high end, **** a warrior with alotta bandages are amazing solo'ers... EQ isnt a solo game though)

Ziguld, try to understand. I'm not trying to say that beastlords are superior to any other class or that they can do things that other classes can't. I'm just saying that they aren't a worthless class with nothing to offer like you propose.

As early as level 39 they get a pet only 60% haste spell. And they get new pet heals almost every spell level. Having a BL in your group is like having an extra mezzer/cc, park the BL pet on the add and forget about it. BL pets are tough tank-wise, and the heals they get are just icing on the cake. Two beastlords in your group? Forget about single pulling, bring the whole room.

I think your problem is you haven't grouped with any beastlords yet, or have only grouped with ignorant twink PL'd beastlords that haven't learned to play their class yet, so you are basing your opinions on second hand rumors or jaded experiences.

Btw, your comment about taking a beastlord to a Ntov raid is ridiculous. If you have ever actually been to tov or Ntov for that matter with your guild, when was the last time your guild leader/raid organizer said a certain class couldn't come?? If you have witnessed that in your guild even once i feel very sorry for you and would suggest that you seek a different guild...

That's the little secret about rangers that even a lot of rangers don't seem to know. A ranger can actually deal more damage than a similarly equipped warrior of the same level. However they can't TAKE nearly as much... that's where warriors really shine, they're not the best damage DEALERS, they're the best damage TAKERS.

It's not arguable that rangers are above warriors for damage output, it's a provable FACT. But when the mobs start hitting back, they're in trouble, because they can't take the hits as well as a warrior can. They can dish it out better than a warrior, but can't take it anywhere near as well.

Umm, Rangers DO get double attack at lvl 20. The only thing they can't really do is take a lot of heavy damage like a warrior.

BL armor

Some prolly know this but this is the Beastlords Kunark armor. Equivalent to Singing Steel, Tolan's Darkwood, Elder, so only works on BL and prolly has to be worn to trigger it as with all other Kunark armor, if worn it is prolly not self only...

Kalais Warbringer
Ranger of the 51st Circle
Ronins
Morrel Thule
Why use this?

Well, unlike warriors, beastlords get the spell at lvl 30, so all this would be good for is freeing up a spell slot, IF it can be cast on others as well, and not just selfonly

Freeing up a spell slot. Well why can't you just shrink yourself, forget the spell, and put another spell there? It's not as if you have to recast shrink a lot. Shrink's duration is indefinite; once cast on someone it lasts until they die, log off, or leave the zone.

Well I'm sure its like Traveler's Boots where it can be in an open inventory slot and you just right click them for it to take effect...maybe only beastlords can wear them but anyone can use them by just right clicking them...not sure if self-only though

Sorry, you're WRONG there... these boots MUST BE EQUIPPED to use the effect, meaning only beastlords can shrink with these.

And you can target either yourself or group members with the shrink, same as the spell.
