Confused
# Jun 26 2002 at 10:09 AM Rating: Decent
Ok i am a bit confused by this weapon. I just picked it up last night and saw that the weapon was primary or secondary equipable. Now knowing that i am a SK i figured well it must be like a parrying dagger because SK's can't Dual weild weapons. The dagger is SK only so its not like any other class could equip it in there secondary slot. The other thing is i haven't seen anyone else mention this problem so i was wondering if anyone else has noticed this or has any other ideas. I am also not using a 2h in my other hand, i went as far as to take off my 1hs completely. The dagger does equip in the primary hand but not in the secodary.

thanks

It was later fixed to just read as primary only. It was likely just an oversight when it was created.
Random Drop

This drops off of any Sarnak inside Chardok. Not just the queen.

Shard of Night is 21/24 and drops from the Queen. The Shard of Darkness is still 10/28. Got one last night (1/15) and off just random spawns.

We just got this off a normal mob (unnamed) in Chardok. Was a random drop, I assume. Could not see it wielded while we were fighting the mob. Not that it matters, but we were fighting in the upper tunnel area, so it dropped pretty close to the entrance.

My group got this off the Di'zok Sergeant last night. The common Sergeant, not the named, looks like a Dragoon dirk when equipped, so you don't even get the typical original look you start expecting from Sarnaks.
#Anonymous, Posted: May 25 2001 at 1:59 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) SK's are pathetic no need to give them a weapon anyways. they are useless at all levels. Verant only put them in so Roleplayers could do their thing

Stupid remarks like these make me mad ! You don't even try to back up your statement with any reason or logic. I'll give ya some reasons why SK's kick major ***...ESPECIALLY at higher levels.

1)People say that our pets suck...That isn't true. A lifetappin, dual-wieldin, bashin SoB is just what an SK needs to compliment himself because we have...
2)LIFETAPS!!! Now they do suck if you only cast one. Now who the hell would do that ??? Lets have a scenario. Your not tanking on an uber mob w/ 10,000+ hp. So you whip out the beast that is Innoruuk's Curse and imbue it w/ a lifetap proc...then lifetap for 150 or 230 inbetween swings. Both procs on Innoruuk's Curse go off, and now you start getting aggroed, but the life you've been stealing allows you to survive long enough for the tank to get aggro back. Then you start all over healing yourself.
OR
YOU are the main tank. The lifetap procs on Innoruuk's Curse hit for about 250 DoT and a 50hp dmg every swing if you got good dex. So that's like getting back 100hp every swing. Now times that by the # of swings per uber battle and it really stacks.

I'm thinking that you took a look at the spell lists and saw low stats and believe them to suck. Selfstanding they do suck. But that's just like a Warrior soloing, we ALL know they really can't solo at all. But stick them in the group and al of a sudden they rock !

So please, remember to wear a helmet whenever you try to think, you might hurt yourself.

P.S. I haven't even listed all the pro's of an SK. Next time you are on /who all 50 60 and ask some of those SK's how much they like their chars and why.

first off, you must be level 12 or something because shadowknights CAN solo, ever heard of fear kiting? but for SKs its more like, fear-and-kick-the-sh*t-out-of-the-mob kiting. and yes, shadowknights can deal some decent damage, but nothing compared to the rogue or monk...or even a ranger(WITH EPICS), also, a chainblasting mage/wizzie can EASILY outdamage them.

Its true Sk and good at things but i would pick a warrior over a Sk anytime there are good tanks just not as good as a warrior but they are fun to play i have to say that.

GAH!....GAH!!!

More reasons you neighborhood SK deserves a little love. This comes from a mid level sk who hunts alot in the open.

A. You get a toon who can pull like a monk (FD Pulling), and when he gets back to the group, he can tank like a warrior! Best of both worlds!!

B. MANY utility spells. DOT's, Snares, Fear. We are ready for kiting/crowd control needs.

C. Best taunter in the game. 'Nuff said.

D. We heal ourselves.

I am sure I have missed some. Warriors are great...so is every melee class. So is any class, period. Every class fills a specific role. We need to start recognizing that.
RE: Marvin

Actually no, I think you'll find the best taunters in the game are Clerics and Enchanters. Sad but true. No melee can come anywhere NEAR the aggro generated from chaincasting an AoE heal or Tashania.

That was...trite. There is a BIG difference between taunting and agro, and I think you mean agro.

Example:

Chanter Tash's Shardwurm. Shardwurm Agro's on Chanter! Whatever will he do???

Have no fear! The friendly neighborhook Shadow Knight jumps in with a Slash, Bash, taunt, DC, SipStr, and taunts the Shardwurm off the Chanter!

Thats why us melee-type HAVE taunt...to control focus of the mob.

And...BTW...for moments where you just might come close to getting killed by a mob...all of the sudden he turns and attacks something else. Why is that?

Harm Touch. It's whats for dinner. Taunt off that.
RE: Marvin

then the shadowknight cant get agro off the chanter, and the mighty purecaster 1500hp drops, and the chanter gets eaten. Big surprise eh?

Sounds like a lousy purecaster to start with and a really poor SK if he can't get the agro back from a single mob =P
RE: Marvin

hehe, you are a funny man.
A. 1. Yes, I agree, they pull better then Warriors, but not quite as good as a monk, seeing as necro/sk FD is a spell, not a skill.
A. 2. Hahahahaa that one really made me laugh. He can tank like a warrior?? Hahaha sorry, no. Not even close. The best AC items are probably War only, and the sk has to look out for INT items too, if he wants his spells to actually do some kind of damage/effect. Qua hp, don't get me started, at 60 a warrior has almost 3k hp unbuffed I think, where the sk will probably have something close to 2k.

B. Yes, they have spells where Warriors do not, but they are quite low level, nothing compared to necro

C. Yes. But. The only reason why this is so is cause SK isn't Meant to taunt. That's Verant's logic. If warriors would be taunters in the game, then EQ would be very very easy.

D. Yes you can heal, but again, it's nothing compared to what Necros have. At the time you get a 36 point lifetap you probably have around 1500hp+, so what does it matter?

Overall:
Sk is a hybrid class. It can fight a little, it can cast a little, but nothing compared to the original classes. It is meant as a solo class, and therefore isn't neccessary in a group. Don't feel bad though, SK's are probably 1 of the best duelers/pkers (if they have their HT up anyways)
and a warrior shouldn't even think of soloing at 55+. (though a necro does, but hey)
RE: Marvin

Where to begin...

Yes, Monk's FD is a skill. Does not mean that a Shadow Knight played intelligently has any less ability to survive. If you have that spell class maxed out, and you keep SS memmed (like all good SK's should), you have one hard to kill SK. Goons? NP. Guards? Who cares? I can pull 6 mobs, FD like a champ, and have one left for the group to pound on, while not losing a single HP during the pull.

As for tanking like a warrior, its all in the math, my friend. First of all, defense caps are the same. As far as armor, (unless you are like me, an Ikkie), your typical SK is gonna have access to MUCH of the same PLATE mail as you. Combine that with the ability to heal ourselves with lifetaps that can be cast OVER and OVER and OVER, also shielding spells and a lifetap proc we can cast on ourselves! I have heard clerics sigh in relief too many times to believe that does not matter.

Low level spells? I serve an evil God, and at my level, I can travel just about anywhere, I can fear kite, I can make mobs believe I am dead, I can heal myself. This may be redundent, but come on. Yes, Necro's have higher level spells, but do they have the defensive skill caps of a warrior? No, but SK's do. We are the middle ground, like you say. Not necessary in a group? What is. I have been in plenty of groups that had no warriors. *shrugs* How do you define necessary? Need a healer? Clerics are great, but Druids also do well. Mana? Chanters rawk, but Bards really help. Melee? Rogues are king, but a dotting, duel wielding ranger can really throw some damage out. Necro's have great attack spells, and Druids have great buffs, but shamans have both! The only truly necessary class I can think of is Clerics for XP rezzes. Thats it.

If wished were fishes, we'd all cast nets. Maybe you believe that SK's were never meant to taunt as well as we do. Does not change the fact that they do. Warriors cannot keep a mob of a BS'ing rogue like I can (although I am sure there is some out there).

Anyone who thinks that Shadowknights are meant to be Solo'ers has not played as an SK much. Just because they have the ABILITY to solo does NOT mean they are meant to be solo'ers. Their downtime may not be as much as warriors, but it is not much better.

A main crux of your argument is that, in many respects, necro's are better. That argument can be applied to any hybrid. BS. Pally's for Stun, Rangers for pure Melee output (and can also heal themselves) and an SK who can do all the above mentioned things I already hit upon. But, you will never get it. A person who has to say the things you say must feel their position jeopardized, if they have to be so defensive about a class (bet you have a warrior and a necro).

Personally, i am tired of arguments. The needs of a group, or groups, is purely situational. To say that a class must ALWAYS be relegated to a certain level of usefulness is sophmoric. I don't feel bad about being an SK. I am proud of my abilities, and every other player of any class should too. Yes, SK's have plenty of detriments. Name one class that doesn't. Lets end the class struggle! :)

I hate to say this, but why someone would take a warrior over sk in exp group is beyond me these dfor damage, ays.

For damage, SK+pet+spells = warrior damage, infact, i would say its even higher. Especially with the new 2h weapon changes.

For AC = well, SK has 30 ac debuff/tap, making 30 ac off mob, making easier to hit, and adding 30 to you. net bonus of 60. Now, show me a warrior with 60 more AC than an SK. Similarly equiped obviously.

HP - war has more. Sk, gets taps and rune spells tho.

erm, i really can't be bothered to carry on this topic, but you get the general idea. its a poor argument from someone who has very little idea about SK in high end game.

Oh, vs uber mobs : damn straight, send the warriors into tank. that ain't my job.

I have no idea who in their right mind would use this dagger...10 dam 28 delay is a joke for a SK..Especially a sk who would even be able to get down to the queen with thier guild or groups..I mean come on..Ebon mace 19 24..Noc blade 18 26....then this thing 10 28..i can see a level 14 sk useing this but not one that is 50+...i think someone really screwed up here..I was so happy when i heard a dagger fell off the queen..then i goto loot it..and wam..what an insult, as if SK's do not have enough to overcome as it is, then they go and slap us in the face for our troubles of killing an uber mob...Very very poor form...I hope they decide to make this a quest piece instead of makeing us look retarded and expect us to think we just got some uber weapon off a tough mob../sigh...oh well as usual i am used to this..
Stay safe fellow SK's....

Well umm... It is a quest piece, for a the warrior epic, If your an SK that got to loot it, either give it to a good warrior friend or sell it for a few hundered thousand pp...

Many warrior would pay ALOT for it, hardest part for the epic...

Sorry bud you are incorrect this is the common crap she drops. The warrior piece needed for epic is called Sword Blade # 2 - Ancient Blade. Trust me nothing more disheartening then seeing Queen Velazul Di'zok has pierced you for XXXX. we have killed her 3 times on Seventh Hammer and no blade yet.
