xp and hand me downs
# Jun 25 2004 at 4:49 PM Rating: Decent
Usually I attempt to hunt, where I will get XP, with alts in mind. This is a perfect example. I have a 24 rogue, I can probably do this camp, and I can loot the stuff too. :)

The Armor reminds me a lot of the noob monk armor, a stat here and there. a full set is nice.

Funny that people talk about Netherbian Lair and tunic. While I was camping VT shard in DSP and Sambata's were in the Rockhopper cave this tunic dropped from a Sambata. :p

I dont mean the normal Tribal mobs but the Sambata's that are tougher than the Rockhoppers in Dawnshround Peaks.

Screwed up loot table?

Just a bit of info... if anyone cares... The newbie wood elf druid armor looks exactly like this, greenish leather. Hope this helps someone! =)

I Love this stuff, i have used a full set of spore gear to bring up new lvl Chars, ranger, druid, beast, and finaly to pass it one last time is to my monk. i have found that a full set is just a few ac less than alloy in exchange for a stat increase.for class's that can't wear up to chain this is a great ac with a universal blend of stats to compliment it , my monk will use it to it's fullest.
RE: universal twink
# Sep 04 2002 at 11:05 AM Rating: Default
Twinking a monk...yeah, this is better than Wu's as a tunic because of the AC and STR. Get a young monk a pair of Spore Covered wristbands, too, for the AC and the STA. Greyhopper shoulderpads (strictly for the 8 AC and .2 weight). Balance it out with Wu's for the rest and you will have a young monk with low weight, improved strength and stamina, high agility. If you are in Netherbian Lair to obtain the Spore Covered armor, go over to Paludal Caverns and obtain a Fist of Wood and Fist of Horn for his HTH weapons. Your young monk will then OWN his levels into at least the 20s.

thisis pathetic, im lvl 39 monk and i wantt this. my ccs is heavy as hell (1.0weight). this is 0.4, only 1 less strength addition, and its same ac. send me tell on Kudak on xegony if ya sellin one. i dont wanmna go down to netherbian lair and waste my time campin one.

why do people incesently give out there equipment portfolio in an attempt to brag on what they got or what ubber item they twinked with? just seems odd and moronic. Well... just a thought. :)
Best Piece
# May 23 2002 at 8:17 PM Rating: Decent
The tunic is the best piece of this armor and by far the hardest piece to get. The armor as a complete set is good newb stuff. On the other hand I have a full set on my 12 Iskar Monk weilding 2 Polished Steel Ulaks, He's set till 20's I think this gear was designed with monks in mind (look at weight), I mean at lvl 15 there is far greater armor to have for all the other classes except the monks. It is inexpensive and nice armor for any monk under 25

Ok, just a little heads up to people camping this.. the spawn is totally random. I camped these buggers for 4 1/2 hours to get a full set. Ended up with 8 partial sets, but took the whole time to get 1 set of legs drop. Another guy i just talked to said the same about when he camped it but he had troubles with the tunic... just be patient =P Oh ya.. the only guys that drop pieces are "a mature fungoid" "a fungoid" and "a fungoid worker" but kill everything there, they drop decent cash as well. In the end, i'm glad i spent the time there, made 400p, and have a monk in full green leather light weight armor now. Send me a tell on Stormhammer if ya need pieces, i got plenty.

EDIT: I should add that i did this with a level 35 ranger.

# Mar 12 2002 at 9:31 AM Rating: Decent
Iv looted Chest, back, gloves, boots and cap. chest came from my first kill. this item is better than Wu's, I ask for pc on Torv and got prices from 150-250...I sold it for 200. Dont know where the 70pp comes from.

well.. i would say 200p would be fair price.. if someone didn't know how easy it is to get. Takes awhile to get the drop, but it's a fairly low lvl mob, soo.... 70p might be more realistic.

True Arranor, the mob aint tough...but iv hunted there a bunch, and Iv only had one drop...tons of gloves and legs.

Not long after Luclin came out I was looking for some solo xp @ 28. Stumbled upon these fungoids and gotta tunic on the 3rd one I killed. First one dropped legs, second one dropped a bracer, 3rd was Tunic, 4th was another set of legs. I guess I got lucky, I was picked up by a group of friends and stopped hunting these things, but if I knew this stuff was going to sell for what it does I would've stayed here heh.

I've killed a ton of spores and looted the following:

12 wristbands
7 sleeves
5 gloves
5 hoods
4 boots
3 leggings
2 cloaks

...and ZERO tunics!

Armor drops about 1 out of four kills, so I've probably killed over 120 of these things and no tunic to show for it.

Cloaks sell nicely to lowbie druids.

# Jan 20 2002 at 1:54 AM Rating: Decent
Love the spore armor on my 14 Monk, but i don't like the odd assortment of stats on the various pieces, Wu Armor seems to be a little better with the +Agi on the pieces, but this is good stuff nonetheless.
RE: Spores
# Jan 24 2002 at 1:33 PM Rating: Decent
I hereby recant. I'm currently mixing Spore covered and Wu's armor until I get enough money to buy something real. Wu Cloak is better than Spore, but spore tunic is much better than Wu's... so i guess you have to do some research.
RE: Spores
# Jan 21 2002 at 4:16 PM Rating: Decent
AC > Stats. Spore Covered armor is much better than Wu's. The agility on Wu's does not make up for the lack of raw AC.

Good Beastlord armor too IMO
# Dec 12 2001 at 9:05 PM Rating: Decent
In my opinion this would make decent Beastlord armor too. I just started a Beastlord recently and was abit upset to find out that they can only wear leather type armors. Well by reading the stats on this Spore armor it seems to me that this would be decent armor for low to mid level Beastlords, of course there are a lot of other armors out there that a Beastlord could get even though they are limited to leathers. However this armor seems relatively easy to get and is better than plain old leather.
i got alot of peices, and a NICE monk weapon

i got almost full set, ( solo the fungoids at 27, dung 29 in about a week ) so, good exp and good loot. the armor looks GREEM on my human monk LOL :) the weapon i got was from a friend in one of the luclin zones. he happened to get it when i zoned in P

Stats are im not quite sure but ill try to estimate....

Polishes Steel Ulak
DMG = 9
DLY = 27
SKILL = HAND TO HAND
2 STR
3 DEX
2 STA
25 HP
25 MANA

that is about the stats, very nice weapon and looks like a semi circle fan blade.

Whole set
# Dec 11 2001 at 7:02 AM Rating: Good
I have a whole set of this stuff on Quelious, 9 pieces total. Each peice weighs 0.4 and the AC for the whole set is 58AC. It drops of "a fungoid" and rarely off "a fungoid worker". It does not drop off the Fungoid Sporlings. Also a rare mob in these caves called "a mature fungoid" drops a monk/beastmaster useable weapon.
Stats for the weapon are
Skill: Hand to Hand
5 damage/ 27 Delay
+1 Dex, +1 Agi, +15 HP, +1 SvC
And it is not Lore, and you can use it in either hand, so you can use 2 at once.
RE: Whole set
# Dec 15 2001 at 11:43 PM Rating: Decent
Slight correction: The damage on the weapon dropped by the Mature Fungoids (forget the name of it) is 6, not 5.

Also, I wanted to add that the Mature Fungoids almost always drop a piece of Spore Covered Armor, in addition to the H2H weapon. I've killed 5 and 4 have dropped pieces of armor.

# Dec 10 2001 at 7:33 PM Rating: Good
My monk is currently wearing a CCS at 12ac and 1.0 wt. Slightly better on stats, but I'd drop it for this to save the 0.6wt, and avoid that being asked if I can buff people. Whatever possesses people to ask a lizard in a robe with two sticks in his hands to buff them, I'll never know.

Good for beastlord too, but not worth drooling over.

RE: awesome monk item
# Dec 11 2001 at 2:41 PM Rating: Default
I know the feeling.....

People ask my 21 cleric for rezes (some specify an exp rez), people would ask for clarity when my enchanter was 27-28 (I kindly told them that clarity was a level 29 spell, and that I could breeze them, if they wanted), and now that my enchanter is 37, more people ask for breeze than clarity (they also don't know what Gift of Magic does--Increase you max mana). There was also a time that poeple incessantly asked my enchanter for SoW. My enchanter is a high elf, by the way (no high elf class can SoW, if you didn't know). Also, people are incessantly bothering my level 12 druid for SoW and are surprised when, while grouped, my level 9 shaman casts soW on the group.

Why I play only caster classes, I don't know. The life of a melee class is so much less confusing.

Oh, yeah...I should say something on-topic here....
This is a great monk item, but also would be decent for anybody who can use it and acquires it. If its better than what you have and you can get one, why not use it? I don't see many classes except monks looking to purchase it, but it is still a nice piece of armor.

RE: awesome monk item
# Feb 23 2002 at 3:54 PM Rating: Excellent
may be they think your axe is the "great troll slicing axe of deadly speed", that after chopping off the head of annoying twinks it resurrects them with sow so they can get their corpse back faster.

Stats on Axe
Classes: Shadowknight, Warrior.
Races: Troll, Fluffy Bunnys
dmg: 25
dly: 35
effect: Newbie Destroyer - (procs when axe slices through a newbies neck) 9000 dd + casts sow on thier resurrected body, but when they loot their corpse it summons a level 60 Troll SK who follows them around and if they ask anyone for "phat loot" or buffs it politely tells them to shut up with its Harm Touch. It also has a gate spell that takes it to the newbies bind point, plus it wears a earring that adds 3000 to its patience, so it dont mind waiting for them to come back after camping.

It also adds 40 to your beggers resist, and casts a combination of permanent "invisibilty to players" and 1018 Error on ebay buyers(people who bought their account or items from ebay)(this is a right clickable effect, unlimited charges)

It goes for around 300kpp, but I have seen it go for 300 dollars on ebay<grin>

Boy, I spent a few minutes writing this completely off topic post that might possibly never be read... i enjoyed it though.

Hehe, same here. I had a 15 ranger on Firiona Vie, and i was constantly asked for sows. No one seemed to care that I had ringmail and a Short sword of morin (yak like look) with a chitin shell shield. (17 now with dual wield and no questions, whew)

My enchanter at 9 on Zeburoux...however you spell it, is always asked for breezes, and the tanks in my groups always wonder why i don't send my pet to aid them in the mob they pulled. I am also asked, when i auction out that i am a pretty good jeweler for my level (89, don't you love full profit fishing, lol, even if it takes forever)how much i sell my enchanted gold and plat...

My bard on veeshan (royal velium frosted all around except legs and bp) is always asked for sows whenever he is carrying an instrument.

And last but...well, yes least, is my halfling rogue on rallos zek (never played anymore) who has a harpoon of the depths and leather. He was always asked for sows.

/sigh they never learn...anyway nice tunic if you don't have something as good, and if you do, always nice to give something to some random newbie for no reason. (Surprised you by going on topic, didn't I)

Sorry for takin up all your space everyone.

LOL. I know what you all mean. My level 37 wood elf rogue constantly gets asked for a SOW. I guess they didn't notice the two daggers in my hand and suspect that I have no mana what so ever, but it still cracks me up we i get asked.
