Fought the Reishicyben about a week ago with my level 22 Vah Shir Beastlord(non-twinked).I had only a little troble when i startedd the fight with 50% mana as i had to let my warder tank until he was down to about 60% health then i tanked the rest, he is on a 90 minute spawn timer and also drops a cloak, fought him twice that night once getting shield and once getting cloak (2 most common drops off him) and promtly gave themto my Froglok Shaman.

my 33 ranger solo's this guy easy. first time got eye and second time got this shield. will sell for 50pp on the antonius bayble server.....send gilthoniel a tell
I will admit to "farming" this item (sort of). First, I helped take down the Reichicyben in a small group of low to mid 20's. We had a shaman with us, and I made sure as group leader that he got it. Later, I came back with my same warrior (now 30). Since the Reichicyben is on a 90 minute spawn, it is kind of a pain just to wait for it. So I camped and logged in once in a while when I wasn't playing my alts. I gave a shout to ask if anyone was camping him. If no one was, I whacked it and looted. It is dark blue to my 30th warrior, so I didn't feel TOO guilty about it. The shield seems to drop about 2 times out of every 5 or so. The cloak dropped once and the Kaliz (SP, its a monk/beastlord hth item) dropped only once out of the 10 or so times I tried this. I wasn't very scientific, but I got 3 shields, 2 cloaks, 2 eyes and one kaliz. I spread them around the "Family" of alts my wife and I play.

are there any other stat enhancing items, such as this one that are not magic? This just seemes off from the norm, that it has + wis but is not magic. I've seen magic items that have no apparent meaning (like Demask clothing) What does it matter u ask? my shaman likes to slam! just wondering if anyone else saw and thought this.
Remember that not all classes that can equip a shield get the bash skill. Non-magic shields with decent AC are great for us rangers as it keeps the prices (and the number of folks camping the spawns that drop them) relatively low since they are useless for bashers who fight magic-only mobs regularly.
If you were me and I were you, would we still be friends?

Just a helpful bit of insight, Bach. As far as a shield, if you were considering using it on a Paladin, SK or Warrior (One might want to, for the life of me I can't think why though...) then the concern for it being magic would be valid. Wanting to bash with it could be a want/not want factor. However, and before you get all defensive this is coming from a 57 Shaman, a magic shield means absolutely nothing to you. The +wis and 12AC sure do, though! My point is that for Slam (You said smash but this is the actual skill) you will require a magic shoulder item or mantle because that is what allows you to Slam and is for large races only, sorry Iksars... To answer your other concern, the magic on armor pieces like damask generally make that armor wearable by any race, no restrictions by size. It doesn't have to mean it has some special attribute.

why would u want to use this on a SK or pally? well i got this with my SK at lvl 20 i was near the reishicyben and a guy was camping him but already had the cloak and shield and gave me his extras well this is way better than the queynos kite shield i had more AC less weight and some wis which i really dont need but hey it was free. now i have a cracked darkwood shield but this was nice till lvl 29 and i wondered why it wasnt magic too sux not being able to bash anything in ToFS. anyway my point is that u dont have to be extremely high to get this and a SK cant afford a good shield at low lvl if it is your first char.
I am still using an SBS and need all the wis items I can get. I think I need to get my warrior wife and a good group to get past the fiends and bugs and go get one of these shields. While we are there I suppose I also should bop Yelloweyes for his collar.

Bah! 30+ to solo? I was at most 25 and I could take him easy with my poorly equiped warrior, check the facts man!
A lot of stuff in the game is only obtainable by people who would not have much use for it. Take splitpaw armor, you'd have to be 30ish to fight in splitpaw, but the armor is mostly worth 5pp or less (except for the gloves, which are worth 15-20pp) . Similarly, look at the velium weapons. Drop in lvl35 or higher zones, have mediocre stats (like this shield), and only sell for 10-20pp each to players.
This shield is another example of that type of stuff. One of my guildmates got one of these, and gave it to me, as they didn't want it. The only character I had who didn't have better was a largely untwinked lvl 7 shaman. For the most part, nobody with a lot of cash would want this. A charred guardian shield is 250-400pp on most servers, and is 10ac 9wis. Much better for wis casters. Those who can't afford one can quest the Testament of Vanear, before they are level 20, and would sacrifice the ac for the 10wis 10mana on the Testament.
For everyone else, there are cheap shields like the chitin shell shield, velium round shield (25pp or less each), shiny brass shield (which isn't as good on AC, but only 10-20pp or so and has nice MR).
This is another one of those items that nobody who can afford to twink would want, and nobody who isn't twinked can afford to pay much for. Hence the price is less than 100pp. In fact, I'm kind of surprised to see that it is above 50pp.
So there's nothing "wrong with the price."

My Barb Shammy paid 60pp for his (on Vazaelle). That was the price asked for by the seller, not one I got after hard negotiating. I think the price (even lower by now) on this page is pretty much right.

YA...camp the giant shroom in the northern cavern of Paludal. I got one on first and second try..unfortunately it it lore..so I left second one there.

Same here... got the sheild first go and camped there to an ALT for the 90 minutes. Didn't think about possibility of getting 2 sheilds in a row. Had to sit and see it rot away : (

lol yeah me to but man this guy takes forever hust to pop i kill everything until he pop when the next patch comes up they should lower the spawn time to like 30 mins at least
