BST Weapon

This is definitely a beastlord weapon. Why? Because our DPS is not as drastically injured by it. Our pet fights by our side while we are tanking, and if we're (basically) invulnerable, we can basically do around... 2/3 of normal damage? Although for me (since I'm kinda... really... twinked) it would probably be a drastic change from 18 27 to what might as well be 0, most beastlords won't have that to worry about.

I decided to farm the chieftan a bit tonight with my 39ranger and my 39clericbot. Easy camp, just read other posts. I intended to just bazaar the loot for cash but after looting the skull shaped sacrificial hammer I changed my mind. I equipped it, decided to get a giggle out of taking a few swings and I was immediately AMAZED. The damage output is pretty much negligeable....but it procs CONSTANTLY and I'm not sure how much damage it absorbs but its waaaay more than 50. It procs so much for me I never lose hardly any health at my current level! Completely surprised and stunned...figured it was a loser weapon.
Bear in mind my dex is 207 so I might proc a bit more than average...strangely the proc drops my dex to 187 for the duration of the shield effect but it still procs continually.
I'm keeping it till I get high enuf the mobs are wiping the shield out in a single hit or so...need to max my 1hb anyway.
Amazing lil stick...best surprise I've had in a looooong time.
Oh and it took me 7 kills to get him to drop the first one.
Luck all!
Slow to Proc

I have had this on my rogue with 255 dex (in werewolf form) and it took 3 pretty long fights for it to proc once...true the proc is nice..but wow, took away from my DPS just to get the stupid thing to proc! :(
got one
# Jul 22 2002 at 12:18 AM Rating: Decent
just got one off a vendor for 100pp...looks badass..not the best ratio, but it looks cool, and has a cool proc..i think ill keep it around for a while
Effect
# Jul 14 2002 at 6:28 PM Rating: Decent
Don't mean to sound like a newb... but what does, "Increase absorb damage" mean? (it's part of the Ritualistic Bloodlust effect)
RE: Effect
# Aug 19 2002 at 5:49 AM Rating: Good
It's a kind of armor that absorbs damage instead of deflecting it - the max effect is 50 points so if a mob hits you for 20 points, you take no damage and your damage absorbtion has 30 points left in it.

Grrr...why did my 36 Ranger on FV get one of these (damn quick too, 3rd kill) and my cute itty bitty Gnome Gnecro not be able to have it?? *sigh* I wish they had have patched FV when they said they were going to let us have three characters, this thing is useless to my ranger, but my necro would look hella cool with it, except, he's on Lanys T'Vyl...

Compared to the low-level, magic, 1HB weapons available to pure casters, this isn't too bad. The effect is interesting and the damage ratio is a little better than a Darkwood Staff. However, I doubt that an enchanter would want to take such a hit to their CHA.

Just FYI
# Feb 11 2002 at 10:39 AM Rating: Decent
I bought this thing at level 23 (dosn't matter the price, I'm on FV and our economy is wacky).

It FINALLY started proccing at level 25.

As a cleric I really enjoy this weapon. Not only does it make my dwarf look sinister, but it procs all the time against blues and evens. I constantly have a damage shield for when my heals draw aggro.

Damage-output is pretty blah, but I'm a cleric, not a tank.
Rarity is WRONG
# Feb 05 2002 at 8:28 PM Rating: Decent
I've been offered 2.5k and refused, simply because it took a full week to get it. Grimling at this point can't hate me anymore(this mean they will start liking me for slaying their superiors?) Rare is saying it nicely for this weapon, more like Ultra Rare, and warriors that I lend it to like it. Everyone that uses it wants to buy it, still debating wether I sell this one or not. Sold the first one for 2.5K and got it on the first kill. So if it takes one week to get it is NOT a Common Drop, Rares drop in day, but a week? the screams Ultra-Rare.
RE: Rarity is WRONG
# Feb 06 2002 at 12:23 AM Rating: Decent
It's not that rare. Not nearly that rare. It dropped off the first chieftain I killed. All the people I talked to who had camped it for more than say 5 hours had gotten one. It's uncommon, even rare, but not nearly as rare as the staff of living sand or runed ceremonial smudging stick.

Are you simply trying to drive up the price for your next sale? It's a 1hb PGT, nothing more. Worth 200 or 300pp at the most, mainly because of the novelty.
RE: Rarity is WRONG
# Mar 01 2002 at 11:43 AM Rating: Good
Just because it dropped on your first kill doesn't make it common, it makes you lucky. I have aquired 4 of both the smudging sticks and the staffs and never saw this item. So unless Tunare's drop rates are different, this would be the rare one of the trio.
RE: Rarity is WRONG
# Jun 19 2002 at 9:12 AM Rating: Decent
I camped this tonight with a friend for about 3 hours, got 3 of the Skull Shaped hammers, 2 Staffs of Living Sand and 2 Pestles. Chieftain is on a 12 minute timer and if you happen to be around lvl 44, you can single pull his guards and spiritists and leave the chieftain by his lonesome. He doesn't come off the hut porch, so we just dotted him up and waited for him to die, then loot.

Damage Bonus
# Feb 04 2002 at 7:45 PM Rating: Excellent
Actually, damage bonuses do show up before level 50. My level 28 monk alt is duel wielding a Stave of Shielding and Essence of Dol (both dly 28 weapons), and they show a damage bonus of 1. I did not see these bonuses before level 28.

For me it gives 25 str and takes away 15 agi. By the way the screen shot there shows bonus damage they have clearly removed that as with alot of the new weapons. This is one cool looking toy.

#REDACTED, Posted: Jan 24 2002 at 1:09 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) You don't get a damage bonus until you're above level 50. Because of this, it will not show up on the weapons for you if you are below 50. Also, the exact amount of damage bonus you get depends on your level and class, as well as the number of halflees that you have eaten on that particular day.
RE: Damage Bonus
# Apr 08 2003 at 8:11 AM Rating: Decent
The formula for 1h damage bonus is (lvl-25)/3 and round down. Melee classes only.

RE: Damage Bonus
# Feb 15 2002 at 4:41 PM Rating: Decent
That is not true. My 32 Beastlord gets 2dmg added to any weapon equipt and even more if delay slower. I right clicked a crumy weapon from merchant w/ delay of 51 and it had a dmg bonus of 9 so you do get bonuses before lvl 50.

Maybe they need to start putting patch messages IN ALL CAPS...

A few points about dmg bonus...

1. If you are NOT a MELEE character you will show NO DMG BONUS on anything, regardless of who can use it.

2. If you are NOT level 28 or higher, you will show NO DMG BONUS.

3. DMG Bonus's on 1 handed weapons start at 1 at lvl 28 then proceed up as you level (can't remember the exact formula, but it's 1 point+ every 3-4 lvls)

4. DMG Bonus's on 2 Handed Weapons will be larger than 1 handed weapons, also moving up every few levels.

5. You can be gods gift to the meleeing CLR/DRU/SHM/NEC/ENC/WIZ/MAG but you will NEVER inspect a weapon and see "DMG Bonus: X" unless you are on some melee class alt character.

After receiving 2 of these earlier and the chief dropping a 3rd, I ran mine to an 18 Beastlord and gave it to her so I could loot the 3rd one for myself. She reported it proccing for her, but I never witnessed it. Spammed me in tells though for giving it to her. *shrug*

Necro Weapon
# Jan 08 2002 at 12:49 AM Rating: Default
With the minus to Chr to assist on fear spells and the damage sheild. This seems a perfect necro weapon. Get it to proc then who cares if the mob switches from your pet to you. You'll be invulnerable for that fear kite.
RE: Necro Weapon
# Jan 18 2002 at 11:00 AM Rating: Good
Charisma for necros has not, currently does not, and, until Verant decides otherwise, will not affect Fear. Charisma DOES, at least, affect a necro's charm and Screaming Terror.

What makes your ST/charm last longer? Higher CHA or lower? I have heard that lower CHA helps, but with higher CHA helping out chanters... thnx for any help...

I have been using it in the beginning of a fight and then once it procs (which is often) I switch to my Etched Steel Baton. The proc seems to be a nice strength buff (over and above the +2str) and gives you invulnerability for a few seconds. A little heavy for me but very nice to carry around in a tink bag. I didn't think much of it when I got it (sold the first one for only 200pp) but now that I have another I think I'll hang on to it for a while. Looks like a skull on the end of a stick when held.

Does the effect stack with the PGT? that would be very cool
broken
# Dec 10 2001 at 7:22 PM Rating: Decent
Unfortunately the proc on this weapon is broken :( I looted it last week and would see "this item is out of charges" when the proc would try to trigger during a test-fight. Petitioned it and after exchanging it with the Lead GM, found the new one broken as well. Ended up with the GM asking me to /bug it which I promptly did.
