Update from July, 2004
# Jul 20 2004 at 10:52 AM Rating: Decent

I am camping the toilers, 4 arms, and the robe figures at AR zoneline for over 4 days now. I have killed over 100 of these buggers and no way their drops are common or uncommon. Here is the estimated loots dropped for me:

2 Axgoreth's Belt of Defense
2 Stone Idol
4 Vah Shir Claw Earring
3 Shrouded Medallion
1 Medallion of life
1 Black Flame Charcoal
7 centi weapons

For me, common = 1 drop out of 1-5 kills, uncommon = 1 drop out of 6-20 kills,
rare = 1 drop out of 21-40 kills,
very rare = 41+ kills.

OK...

2 things,

As a wizard i have a hammer that procs stun, with my 300 hate reducing 1 second cast spell, and a horse so i'm basicly medding (not to mention 260int) i;m looking for dex gear that i don't have to sacrifice mana for, my current sleeves have 0 mana bringing me to my next point....

I'm wearing netted kelp sleeves at 61 still, why you ask? because my base str is 55 if i take them off i'm encumbered, an encumbered wizard is a dead wizard. While the 35 mana isn't uber it's not horrible for arms and easily beats what i have. Not to mention has 2 stats that are VERY hard to find for a caster without sacrificing something imortant :-D
Good item

These don't seem that rare. Our group was killing stuff by boathouse (btw, charmed umbrous toilers are outstanding pets), and had these drop twice.

Had Azure sleeves before that. Could have got Gator or Loam real easy, but liked the AC on Azure. But when these dropped, I switched without hesitation.

Before my 60 chanty wandered into me he was wearing a spider fur neck and azure sleeves as well, now he has as shrouded and transient sleeves and feeling spiffy and more magic resistant
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 08 2002 at 2:32 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I'd really like to see this as being a bard item as an addition to the pure caster classes. It seems suitable to casters with the 35 mana but the other stats don't matter as much to casters as they do to melee.
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 21 2002 at 6:30 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I disagree, low AC, I see it going more toward the Rogue class, looks like leather anyway thats why casters can wear it, cover up the ugly leather with the robes

Wouldn't be a bad bard item, also.

All I have to say is as a wizard when I got these I was allready above 200 int yes but the mana was more than enough to make me feel comfortable and since I wear Imbued Platinum Fire Rings to put me above 200 the -16 streangth that will cause makes these arms a wonderfull offset to it. Now I can carry food again lol

awsome

I just zoned into ME with a group and first thing I see on ooc is casters are rotting on corpse....well off me and another caster go since he knows stats and already has a pair. I got them and wow. They are awsome for chanter. Adding this and my grey flesh gloves the day before I was a very happy chanter.

Great for necros and chanters as the one d00d said. More cha is good for chanter, though, I'm not a charming undead necro, I fear everything.. But this wouldn't affect me too much considering my cha is 0 (should be -11) so an added 7 won't hurt. Extra strength for farming, Dex for Channeling (I get hit too much :D)and the AC would be nice.

Geez, it's hilarious how so much disinformation spreads so quickly.

Dex does not help with channeling.

Charisma does not affect fearing.

Anyone that says these sleeves don't absolutely rock for an int caster needs to go do their homework on their class before running their mouths. Let's recap the stats, shall we.
9ac 10dex 10str 7cha 35mana 15hp

9ac, let's see... considering most int casters wear gatorscale sleeves (which have 6ac) until they get planar or high end quest sleeves, this is very nice. AC isn't just for tanks, it helps you from getting hit, or from getting hit as hard, it's essential.

10dex, I think this is where most people like to start flaming. "omg, you're a moron why do you have dex gear!?" I'm only gonna say this once, so listen carefully, and feel free to re-read this sentence if you need to: Dexterity is the stat in which your channeling skill is based. Therefore, "Caster A" with 75dex getting whacked by a mob is less likely to get a spell off than "Caster B" with 125dex. See how that works, now no more flaming casters with dex, they are the smart ones, ask them questions that you may have about the game.

10str, Ok, so strength doesn't exactly effect your casting abilities; however, as a caster starting with like 70str I'm sure that you see how easy it is to become encumbered, even with weight reduction bags. I'm sure you can see how useful str is. (quick FYI since I'm going in detail on each stat. The amount of weight that you can carry is equal to your str, so if you have 70str, you can carry 70 "stones" worth of weight. 75str = 75 "stones" etc.)

7cha, Well, this one is useful based on your class. For Necromancers and Enchanters it's awesome, for Wizards and Mages... errrm.. maybe not. For Wizards and Mages it'll at least bump your buying power at the merchants up, but not a lot as far as casting abilities. For Enchanters, 7cha on sleeves is absolutely incredible. (the Skyshrine Quest sleeves only have 7cha, the Thurgadin have 4cha, and the Kael only have 4cha) Necros can use this for charming undead etc, because charisma is the stat that helps determine the duration of the charm and if the charm will stick.

35mana, don't make me laugh. I don't have to explain this one.

15hp, though it's not going to be an item you'll drop to save your xp death, it's always nice to add a few extra hps, especially for a caster, I'd rather have 15hp than none at all. Plus, if you had Gatorscale prior to these sleeves, you already had 15hps, and this just keeps you from ******** about losing those hps.

That's the rundown of the stats, and why they are the most useful sleeves I've run across so far (considering I don't have planar sleeves, or Velious Quest sleeves) I hope this post has been useful for you. Take care, and good hunting.

"omg, you're a moron why do you have dex gear!?" Dex doesn't affect the likelyhood of channeling at all.. it DOES affect your chance of getting a channeling skill up.

If your channelling skill is maxed (and it always should be), then there is no need for DEX gear :)

Once again there comes the arguement, what is more important for chanters CHA or INT. I would truly like to say, I am in the CHA field of this arguement. As mentioned up top, CHA is awsome for charming, but not mentioned it DOES help mezz stick by a lot. I dont think i can make a mezz stick to red mobs if my cha was at say 75. But at 211 my mezz will hit red mobs say, about 70% of the time, if not more (untashed too). Found this out the hard way, back in the good old LOIO days mezz just would not hold to mobs 2+ lvls to me. Now mezzs stick to mobs that con red, i mean deep red too (not the ones that are 5+ lvls) but RED... Int, yeah you have to have it, cuz you dont want to run dry on mana, but hey, that is what ToT and chanters epics are for, and correct me if im wrong but velious leggins cast clarity for all those beggers. Str, ok i really dont need this stat a whole lot, but one thing is right, casters really do get encumbered fast... If you dont belive me, tell that to the wizzie or the druid that is quading orcs at EW. Dex, enough has been said and done about it, VERY important to casting. MANA, ok this sleeves replaced my gator scale, so the mana offsets the mana i lost from the int. HP, was with Gator scales again..

BTW I too am a Enchanter

PS.. got these a couple of nights ago, and when I saw this on the corpse, I almost fainted from happiness = ).

FYI kpak, each jump in mezz spells allows you to mezz even higher lvl mobs. Example: say lvl 16 mezz (enthrall) let's you mezz mobs +2 lvl above you at say (pulled out of my ***) 75 percent. lvl 49 (Dazzle) will let you do the same at mobs say +5 lvls above you. Yes the Cha helps too, but the better spells do more. My numbers aren't accurate, but the theme is.

I hunt in maden's all the time and have found nearly all the stuff that drops there you can get at the zone. Not all but alot, but they are nice arms i got some for my lvl 1 chanter no problem. =)
Not Melee Arms
# Jan 23 2002 at 1:55 PM Rating: Decent
Just want to say AeroBLASTER that you aren't the sharpest tool in the shed considering these are INT caster only sleeves and have nothing to do with melee at all.
I got a pair as well!

Also, my first post... I was grouped in Maiden's, and I was sent a tell that these were rotting. How awesome are they?! My first piece of 'uber' gear... I am quite excited to have them, especially at 40th level.
Oh, yeah!
# Jan 03 2002 at 3:02 AM Rating: Decent
I was over in Maidens and picked these sleeves up. I also traded these for my gaterscale sleeves and being a 54chanter, I had no problem letting go of the int for the rest of the awsome stats on these sleeves. =)

Not a bad swap

I swapped out a set of Gatorscale Sleeves (4ac? 4int 15hps) for these and don't regret it in the slightest. Even though the int cap has been removed, 1 point of int still only gives me 6 mana at lvl 52 (according to the mana calculator).

Therefore, with plus 35 mana off these sleeves you can give up 5 int and still end up with more mana overall. Albeit, only 5 points of mana. But, then you add in the fact that these allow you to carry an addition 10 weight, are higher AC, increase charisma for trading, and don't cost any hps (15 on both these sleeves and the gatorscale), and you've got a fairly significant increase in your overall character.

Just my thoughts,

#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 23 2001 at 7:32 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Except for the mana bonus, this is a melee item. Now, we all know that INT casters just don't melee. At all. So what's the point? 10 more weight allowance is all I can think of, but with the cap up I think more INT would be better. A high INT sleeves would probably yield more mana anyway.

At the level you can get these, it will be the RARE Int-caster who is not at 200, or even 255, Int. Strength and Dexterity, in such concentrated shots, can be useful for *any* class. Mana will be of more value than Int, in this case, and more HP is always good, even 15 adds up over a few items.

Secondly, this really isn't a general melee item. I would most likely not use this, or only use it situationally, on my Ranger, were they melee class usable. A Warrior can get some nice +Str/Dex items fairly easily, as he doesn't have to worry about having a high Int, and the AC on these is horrid for a melee arm slot. My arms at 51 have twice the AC on this, and if you are tanking, AC is far more important than two stats you can easily recoup elsewhere.

For a low end caster, yes, these would suck, if they were not no drop. For a high end, their not that bad, frankly.

However with the release of luclin they raised the int/wis cap so having over 200 int or wis wields more mana, so even if they had 5-10 int they would be more useful and generate more mana than what they have currently even if you already have like 235int

# Dec 07 2001 at 6:54 PM Rating: Decent
For the chanter that has everything including int at 200 w/o arm items, that's some nice charisma and you don't see a whole lot of armor that does has stats like that for casters anyway.
RE: Chanterlicious
# Dec 07 2001 at 7:51 PM Rating: Good
Yup yup, these be some rockin sleeves for a chanter with some int to spare ... every stat provided is very worthwhile for them to have. Especially the AC / Cha / HP & Mana :)

Mind ya, every class that can wear these can benefit greatly from them ... so best of luck to all int casters who get a shot at these puppies :)
