Why is the Initiate's Cloak usable by multiple races when the rest of the items in the progression of quests are VahShir only? I was going to have my Troll Shammy do the progession, but it seems pointless if he can't use the gear.

What's the point to multiquesting for a race other than VahShir? After the first cloak, everything appears to be restricted to Vah Shir only. It would be nice if the later quests resulted in items usable by Barbarian, Iksar, Ogre, Troll and VahShir like the first cloak.

Please post here if you know about the later quest results being usable bu non-VahShir

I never got a cloak in the first place with my Beastlord. It took me awhile to figure out what I had done wrong (ok, ok, I'm slow). You must do the turn-in to Animist SAHDI, nor Animist Poren (DOH). AS soon as I turned the items in to the proper NPC I had no problem at all

I lost my cloak to a NPC turn in acidently giving my cloak, and not what i should,so I followed BittenMCA's guide, and can clarify, you will still recieve your cloak back,if another,or your other charecter turns in the letter to your Guildmaster, and the one that lost the cloak turns in they're Acrylia slate.

Thanks BittenMCA,your a Charecter saver )

I found that if you lose your cloak, you can still get it back. Assuming you still have your STAMPED Certificate of Taxibility, destroy your Acrylia Slate of citizenship, go to Mignah and get a new one. Take that new slate and the Stamped certificate to Registrar Bindrah and start the citzen quest #1 quest from that point.

I thought I lost my cloak and couldn't start over for some reason so I deleted my char and started over. Of course I immediately realized that I had the cloak, it is black and doesn't show up in the inventory slot unless you point to it. Boy did I feel stupid. Hope this saves someone else from making the same mistake.

Edit: This used to be possible to multi-quest, by having your non vah shir get a slate and having the vah shir to the quest up to the point he got the note back from King Raja, and having the vah shir turn in the note without the slate and having the non vah shir turn in the slate to get the note to the appropriate guildmaster. This no longer works; if the vah shir turns in the king's note without the slate, the registrar simply gives the vah shir a "replacement" slate (even though he never actually had one) and the note to the guildmaster. Apparently Verant decided to break the ability to multiquest so that only vah shir can become Shar Vahl citizens (oddly, the recruit and higher cloaks still show races other than vah shir on them, despite the fact they made them impossible for non vah shir to get).

Sorry, looks like Shar Vahl citizenship is once again exclusively reserved for vah shir.

Earlier this evening my Iksar warrior gained his citizenship in Shar Vahl. The Multi-quest step works fine, it is done at the tax collector.

Replacement Cloak

Don't know what you did to your faction BUT...

The registrar quickly gave me a new Acrylia Slate Of Shar Vahl when I said to her: I lost my Acrylia slate.

I do con ally to most in Shar Vahl.

Hope that helps. =)
Replacement Slate
# Dec 20 2001 at 10:57 AM Rating: Default
Has anybody figured out what faction to raise so that the Registrar will give you a new slate? When She gives you the first one, she says she will replace it for you if asked. Well, I lost mine and have asked her repeatedly for a new one. I always get messages to the effect that she cannot yet trust me with that information and that I must prove my dedication to her cause.

My question if "What cause?" Of course, she doesn't answer that one.

I have been trying for about 5 levels to get a new slate so that I can get a new cloak and do the weapon quest for my BL. I have killed hundreds of hoppers and beetles. I have killed dozens of Briggands and Thugs. I have killed practically everything I can find in Shadeweaver's Thicket, all to no avail. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Thanks.

If instrad of asking the registrar, you ask the vah shir who's on the upper story of the building just south of the bridge to Hollowshade (her name is Mignah something) for an acrylia slate (anything with the phrase "acrylia slate" works) she'll give you one regardless of faction (assuming you're not KOS, of course). I've tried this with several non vah shir, including an iksar monk and a half elf bard. The slate won't do you much good though; you can't use it to multiquest the newbie cloak. However, that slate can theoretically allow you to do some minor newbie quests that ask for the slate. Again, not especially useful... if you're only reason for wanting to do this is to raise faction, just kill a bunch of loda kai bandits. The slate doesn't ever yield anything useful to non vah shir.

I haven't tried this myself, but I've read that killing the various Loda Kai in Shadeweavers raises your Guardians of Shar Vahl faction.

Save this cloak!!!

Even if you don't plan to keep or use this cloak, you need it for *other* guild quests!

I've wanted to play a bard for quite a while now, and I've been waiting for Shadows of Luclin, so I could make a Vah Shir bard... and boy, am I glad I did!

The guild quests for Vah Shir are very good. Not only are the items pretty useful for the level you can complete the quests, but they are also status symbols. As a bard, I am destined to be a master potter, so I use my pottery skills to complete various parts of my guild quests. Eventually, I finished a large portion of the newbie quests. I had to turn in a Jharin bowl that I had made myself, a stretched young hopper hide, and a leather cord, which were fashioned together to produce my very own Drum of the Jharin Recruit! However, I also had to hand him my Cloak of the Shar Vahl Initiate to complete the quest, so you need to hang on to those cloaks! Some of the rewards are pretty good!

When I handed him my cloak, my bowl, the hopperhide, and the leather cord, he did the following:

-He stretched the hopperhide over the rim of the bowl, and fastened it with the leather cord, to produce my Drum! This is an important quest to do, because drums are not sold in Shar Vahl! Also, the drum is NO DROP, for you PvP'ers, and it has 2ac, so it's better than a hand drum.

-He upgraded my cloak, and returned to me a Cloak of the Jharin Recruit! 5ac, 2cha, 5hp, 1% pottery modification, also NO DROP.

-He finished a shield that he had been working on, from the scorpion shells I had given him earlier! I received a Buckler of the Jharin Recruit, 5ac, 3svPoison, 0.0wt, NO DROP!

So for completing this portion of the quest, I received a Drum of the Jharin Recruit, a Cloak of the Jharin Recruit, AND a Buckler of the Jharin Recruit. Not only that, but the NPC also shouted to everyone in the city about how I had become a fledgling bard, and that I was moving up in status, etc. This was just too cool, because not only do you receive several rewards for these newbie quests, the quest NPC shouts out about your accomplishment, which makes you feel like the quest actually *meant* something.

After that, I had to do work on a few other minor quests, and now I'm trying to gain a few more levels, so I can collect 7 owlbear feathers to put in my cloak. Another cloak upgrade around level 10. :)

Excellent point. This is actually more AC, by the way, then anybody else ever gets for turning in their newbie note... plus the exp for doing this simple quest (which is just running from NPC to NPC) is enough to ding you from level 1 to level 2 before you've even tried to kill a single mob!

You can mulltiquest this. and, if you are like me and have no friends :( you can mq it by yourself if you have an open slot in your account on the same server.

Park the character who lost the cloak at guild, near to guildmaster. I did for Beastlord, so I camped out at the feet of Elder Spiritist Sahdi.

Create a new character of same race and class, and do the quest from the beginning up until the step before you get the cloak. Turn in the item (letter) but not the slate and camp. Bring your other character on and turn in slate.

This worked for me 30 minutes ago.

How I managed to lose my first cloak.
At level one, not knowing how to get to the pit, I went to look over the side. Thanks to the frame rate issues, I ran over the edge and died (399 dmg on a lvl 1 character with a couple dozen hp, if that. LOL) Then, using my /corpse button I ran all around - having found the safe way to the bottom of the pit by following someone - by the bottom of both bridges, from one end to the other, and up as far on the edges as I could get. I got the familiar "That corpse is too far away to summon it." msg but never was able to get close enough to it to actually summon it.

Once my corpse poofed I petitioned it and was told "We don't like to give out info on game specifics, but there should be a quest to get it back." and "Your request for reimbursement is not one we can fulfill."

So I looked and asked and looked and this (Multiquest it, alone or with a friend) is the one I have found. Seems like an exploit to me, but then- if the frame rate issue had been addressed before they shipped this I wouldn't be whining like a spoiled brat about it.

Which is not to say I don't love what they've done with this new app. I esp. like that much of the cool equipment is no drop, which may be a much better way of dealing with the farmer issue than the trivial loot code. Until they go too far of course.... ;-)

Well, I lost my cloak and attempted tro do as BittenMCA suggested. But I guess this no longer works or at least it didn't on Test server. After multiple tries I failed, so am throwing in the towel. Bad thing is that on test server you can't petition for GM help as there are no GM's here heh. Oh well thanks for advise....I guess I'll survive.Too late to re-create as I am like lvl 33 now and have no intention of going thru that many lvls for the cloak. Thanks

This cloak is in fact no longer possible to multiquest, vah shir or not.

If there is a way to replace the cloak, it hasn't yet been discovered, and it's been almost a year since Luclin's been out, so it doesn't seem likely, but who knows, maybe nobody's bothered to try figuring it out, or whoever has bothered simply hasn't discovered a way.

The way you lost the cloak, at such a low level, it seems to me you would have been better off just deleting your character and starting over, you haven't gained anything yet to lose by doing that (except perhaps your character's name if you can't get it again... however if you create the character over immediately after deleting it the name should be available).

did it 10min ago. . .First for my BL to get his cloak back, going to do my sonic bane and officer cloak now. Second to make my Druid a citizen of Shar Vahl. I used "/say give me a acrylia slate" (yes, improper grammar and all) and the slate guy gave my druid the slate. MQ'd at appropriate point with two L1 BL's.

Druid started indif to the slate guy. May wanna try again if it didn't work as stated.
RE: Lost Cloak

Hey.

I dunno how you replace this item, but...

For most items of this type, there are quests to get a replacement. (The Iksar quests in Cabilis involve getting a hammer that procs a spell to generate bone shards. You combine these and hand in a whole shed-load for a replacement item.)

In the Cabilis quests, you speak to guild guards. They ask something about your newbie item and you follow the questions. So, I'd be inclined to speak to the NPC's in your guild.

Besides which, you may not need this. The Iksar monk race/class item quests are for shackles, which are upgrades from their newbie item. Likewise the Iksar/SK items, which are weapons. (Ultimately resulting in the rather nice Khukri of the Greenmist.) The necromancer newbie item is a rather vile robe. However, the robe is not upgraded through quests. (The necromancer quests result in helms. Thus, the loss of the robe is completely irrelevant.)

Unless you really want this, I'd be inclined to wait, until you know whether there is an upgrade and if you want it. If you do, you can then go looking for a quest to replace it.

Hope this helps.

AlAaraaf.

just as something to mention.. just because something is in luclin does mean it has to be uber =) somethings are just common drops (i.e. rusty/FS weapons in the real world)
uber?

Well... I don't know about uber... but it's decent considering it's a quest you have to do as a newb Kitty to do any of your other quests there... but since most people in the game twink their newbs a bit... it's not incredible...
