My Froglok Warrior has this and Jagged Blade of Mourning Dual-Wielded and he looks Awesome!! I just hope I can get replacements at higher levels that have same graphics......

my iksar warrior has this, for cha just take it off to sell stuff...but i bought it for 20p in bazaar, seems like a nice weapon for a low lvl player8
nice weapon

I just bought this weap for 100pp at the bazaar, mainly for the dmg/delay and stats. As a lev 15 bard, I have no more song fizzles than normal and always use a + charisma horn when selling, thus the neg cha has no effect.

It WILL affect mez/charm later in levels however, by that time, I would expect a better weapon. Take this one for the damage and, with Jonathon's Whistling Warsong, you will rip up some nasties big time. :)

1hs Skill effect damage?
# Apr 30 2002 at 2:56 PM Rating: Good
Im currently a Lvl 22 Warrior, Im weilding this in the primary and a centi ss in off hand. My 1hs skill got left behind and is only about 75, my dual weild skill is even lower, But I was wondering is how high your skill is a factor in how much damage you do? Someone said that they hit for around 23 damage with this weapon at like lvl 13, Im lvl 22 and im only hitting for around 23 damage. So whats up with that, I have 165 str.
RE: 1hs Skill effect damage?
# Dec 11 2002 at 9:47 PM Rating: Decent
As your skill with a weapon increases, your attack also goes up, so in a way it does make you hit harder. Just in a bit more indirrect of a way.
the weapon skill itself will help you to miss less often, although for me, my 1hs is maxed and I still miss a ton.

actually your skill lvl does have a bit to do with what you can hit for. it is your skill lvl increase and not your character lvl, (i am pretty sure but not 100%), that lets you begin to hit harder as you get older. with the same weapon, a lvl 45 or so warrior with similar str would be hitting for upwards of 40 to 45s with that weapon.

This is why, a bit back, on pvp servers anyway, they made it so that your weapon skills would not be more than 2 lvls higher than your lvl... some would lvl to high lvls and kill themselves back down to their teens and have weapon skills of a veteran. this ability was taken away from them.

and as you get better at the weapon... yes you will hit more often and for more consistant damage, but you will hit harder as well.

Your 1hs skill level doesn't affect the amount of damage that you do with the weapon, but rather the odds of you landing a blow with the weapon. (Those odds also depend on a number of other variables as well). Since the damage rating for this weapon is 11, you may be getting the maximum damage possible from the weapon when you hit for 23. (Not counting Critical and Crippling blows)
Damage Bonus?
# Mar 24 2002 at 8:36 PM Rating: Default
My warrior was given this sword, and I noticed on the picture above that there is a damage bonus...yet when I inspect my weapon I see no such bonus listed. Has the damage bonus been nerfed, or does it get calculated in when I hit a certain level? My warrior is currently 19th level (almost 20), and I'm curious about having a damage bonus. If there still is one, this sword becomes much more valuable to me, although I'll still save up for a Centi LS in a heartbeat.

Melee Classes get a Damage bonus at a certain lvl and the bonus gets better the higher lvl you get. i think the total bonus is based on skill and lvl
RE: Damage Bonus?
# Apr 08 2002 at 8:24 AM Rating: Decent
Verant really needs to make sure that, in the new UI, it becomes clear that dmg bonus is not an attribute of the weapon. It's caused SO much confusion among the players who aren't on top of how all the stats work... :(
RE: Damage Bonus?
# Aug 10 2002 at 9:43 PM Rating: Decent
Damage Bonus ---
DB = (level-25)/3
all decimal places are dropped
Hence -
level 27 and under - DB=0
level 28 to 30 - DB=1
level 31 to 33 - DB=2
level 34 to 36 - DB=3
etc.
Example - A warrior level 52 would have a damage bonus of 9. It would go up to 10 at level 55.
Confunsed
# Mar 07 2002 at 10:50 PM Rating: Decent
ok can the kelethin vendors sell this? Cause i saw one there once and i was wondering
RE: Confunsed/no need to be
# Mar 14 2002 at 1:50 PM Rating: Default
Yes, you could find this at a vendor in Kelethin. If someone sold it to the vendor, he/she could sell it to you. You have to be careful, though. I have seen items at vendors sell for rather cheap; but others sell for very high. But if you can afford it and want it, go for it.
Special graphics.

This is a great item for low to mid lvl rangers, nice stats and looks like a jawbone when held in hand. Very cool. They usually sell fast for 250-350pp.

# Jan 24 2002 at 2:40 AM Rating: Decent
This weapon was given to my lvl 13 warrior as a gift from a friend and it has worked wonderfull for me. I get on average 23 hp with an occasional critcal 45 hp. I do put it away when I buy food and water or sell items to merchants, because I seem to get a better deal. Does anyone know how much damage I can expect to dish as my warrior lvl gets higher?
RE: elder wolf jawbone
# Feb 05 2002 at 3:37 PM Rating: Default
a while back i was using a crystallized blade (13/31 sk/pali only) and i was maxing around high 40's low 50's...been a while since ive used it though so i could be wrong. just an estimate...so you can expect to hit in 40's with this

I have been very lucky in the 5 weeks I've been playing. Two very HIGH level characters have given me everything they had as they were leaving the game for good. One even gave me over 5000pp. My level 26 Ranger, Arwenlight has been the fortunate benefactor. I have given away much but also kept the best for myself, including the Elder Wolf Jawbone, which I love. =) My damage has in fact increased with my level increases. I'm wondering how long this weapon will be a benefit for me. There must be a point at which I will need to move on to 'Greener pastures'..so to speak.

BAD for bards
# Jan 07 2002 at 6:55 PM Rating: Default
I experimented and Charisma IS a factor in Fearing.. I had this and the Crustecean Armor on my bard (CHA of 9) and My fear would not last.. it would say

"you have feared a XXXXX"
"you fear spell has worn off"

switched out the armor and sword (89 CHA)

"you have feard a XXXXX"
you hit XXXX
you hit XXXX
XXX hits you
XXX hits you
you hit XXXX
"you fear spell has worn off"

I could not even get them to turn to run with low Charisma... soooo while great stats on this for the other class.. this VERY BAD for bards.. (cool toon though)

Interesting observation... the opposite is true for necros. (Not that this is important for this item, as it's not necro equipable)
If I equip my Tattered Tomb Shroud and a couple other -CHA items, (CHA = 43) I can fear once in a fight against a white con. With my CHA at 58, I have to fear twice or so. Also, my fear is much less likely to be resisted if I have lower CHA. Next, I'm going to try equipping Maggot Ridden Flesh (-20 CHA, face) and see the difference.
Also, lower CHA seems to draw the most aggro in a melee fight if the other tanks have higher charisma... my rogue has 50 CHA and can't effectively evade unless someone else is taunting.

cha vs fear

It has been my experience that Fear spells are definitely Charisma based. Necros and Shadowknights benefit from low charsmia while fearing whilst all the other classes benefit from higher charismas while fearing.

price?

what is the average price on this thing,i bought mine for 10pp but that doesnt mean much since i also bought a mithril 2hander for 300pp
hmmmm
# Dec 19 2001 at 1:13 AM Rating: Default
Whats the argument? .... not good for bards. Obviosely theres better, but you got to be a ****** to notice the obviouse. SK. Im not an sk, but i know a few that could use this. Not a good ratio for sk weps, but the stats and the resists r great for lower lvl characters. But the bst part is the -20charisma. That means much better fearing......higher lvl sk's can just pop this on when they need to fear kite or do what sk's do. Anyone who conciders this a bard weps not very smart thats just my 2 cents
RE: hmmmm
# Jan 07 2002 at 8:16 AM Rating: Decent
Charisma has nothing to do with fear.I have heard arguments for and against.Personal experience however tells me that charisma does not effect fear.It does seems to effect how well you taunt though. With low charisma I taunt better than with high charisma or at east it seems that way. :)

Got this item for my warrior, its nice, just make sure to un-equip when selling or buying from merchants, I rarelly look at prices when buying little stuff, but had this equipped and got ganked for bandaids, food and drink, once isnt bad but over time it adds up.

-20 CHA means:
*Increased fizzles on all songs.
*Increased resists on mesmerize and charm songs.

Either of those can potentially kill you.
I suppose it depends on your CHA before you equip
# Dec 12 2001 at 12:09 PM Rating: Decent
My bard has an 84 CHA _WITH_ this thing equipped. Sure he fizzles sometimes, but he's still young, and it is seldom anyway. I just have to make sure he has a decent tank to back him up, since this weapon combined with twisting 2 or 3 songs = LOTS of hate.

It would be bad to use this for mezzing (I think) and charming (for sure) I'd just put in away for that as I probably wouldn't be meleeing anyway.

Ok, everyone keeps talking about how this item is bad for bards. They are right but not completly. My bard is a lvl 9 and has this and his kik'n *** with it. So, as u can see, he hasnt even began mezing or charming, fearing, etc. In other words, this is not completly bad for bards, least not at lower lvl's.

I got this item in the zone Havenshade Moor off of a named sonic wolf named Gowlick. Tracked him to the east side of the zone where he resides inside the sonic wolf caves. He was mid to high 20's and an easy kill for me at lvl 52 Ranger. Went in camo and killed him where he stood.
