better dps?
# Apr 08 2004 at 10:16 AM Rating: Decent
Currently I am using an Adamantite Club (15/25) in primary and have SCHW's, would it be worth it to try and pick up one of these or just stick with the AC?

At your level? Using ((Wpn Dmg x 2) + Dmg Bonus) / Delay

AC = 1.28
GSC = 1.13

AC will give you better DPS.

GSC or KD?
# Jan 22 2003 at 7:51 PM Rating: Decent
Right now I've got a Stave of Shielding in my primary and Knuckle Dusters in secondary (Same delay... put the KD in off-hand because SoS hits harder), as well as Silver Chitin Handwraps for 22% haste.

Now... the SCHW would put the GSC at 12/18 roughly, and the SoS/KD at 17/22 and 14/22 respectively.

At level 35 I have a damage bonus of 3... soo...

Would my DPS benefit from having the faster but less damaging GSC in primary and SoS in secondary? Or should I skip it altogether and just keep the setup I have now?
RE: GSC or KD?
# Jan 29 2003 at 10:07 PM Rating: Decent
I just got a GSC tonight finally. All I can say is wow. My main hand damage is down slightly... not really all that noticeable but the speed more than makes up for it.

I'm soloing tribal gatherers in Dawnshroud right now, and my attack animations rarely stop for more than a split second, with very little delay in the "battle spam" as well.

I highly reccomend any monk (probably slightly twinked like me...) with a haste item (FBSS or SCHW) at least go pick one of these up to try. I mean they are free... all you have to do is show up in Maiden's Eye during peak times and you'll get one. It's worth it to at least look at them.

The Goranga Spiked Club is now usable by Paladins. I've emailed a correction via the link on this page. There do not appear to be any other changes to the item. (This makes sense. If Warriors and Clerics can use it, the Paladins should be able to use it also.)

#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 22 2002 at 4:27 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) OK Allyx, I dont think you know what you are talking about... By useing the same logic, how do you get a Beastlord?? Ok I see Monk, Cleric, Warrior, Bard, and Shadowknight. As far as I know, Beastlords are combos of Monks and Shamans. Maybe you thought Shd (Shadowknight) meant Shaman (Shm) ?

Damage bonus is level based off the user, so while this picture may show a DB of 8 you were not that high of a level yet.
RE: Paladin Usable Item
# Jun 22 2003 at 9:36 PM Rating: Decent
They probably brought up Beastlords because nearly everything Monk usable is pretty much Beastlord usable. True Beastlords are half Shaman but they do melee in similar styles to Paladins & SKs (at least in lower to mid levels), just using bash instead of slash, so combining those two bits is probably where he got the by line of reasoning comment.

Got it last night
# Sep 18 2002 at 11:43 AM Rating: Decent
Just looted it last night, was with a shammy and a beastlord. Since I was the only warrior and they could not use it, I got it. It's not bad, though wish it was secondary as well since I wield a bloodpoint to wich is slightly faster. I still manage to hold aggro though with this in primary and bloodpoint in secondary so I may keep this weapon :)
Damage Bonus
# Sep 11 2002 at 11:57 AM Rating: Excellent
Since it wasn't posted in this thread and some may be wondering. Primary hand damage bonus is (level - 25) / 3 (rounded down). So you start out with a 1 point damage bonus at level 28 and get another point every three levels. At 60 your damage bonus is (60 - 25) / 3 = 11.

Guide to obtaining the GBC as a low-level monk
# Aug 31 2002 at 10:00 PM Rating: Excellent
Okay, here's the skinny -- this club is almost always left to rot by the upper level players who are exp hunting in Maiden's Eye. The general custom on my server is that they will OOC that the club is rotting, so there is no need to be a pesky monk and constantly OOC that you are looking to loot one.

- make sure your FD skill is up to around 70+
- (optional) pack a few invis potions
- get a port to Dawnshroud Peaks during peak play time
- run southeast to the Maiden's Eye zone line tunnel
- zone into ME, head out the tunnel, turn right, and go to the top of the slope (zone wall)
- practice your FD, sneak, intimidation skills while you wait for someone to OOC that one is rotting
- send a tell to them saying that you'd please like to loot the club

Usually it takes 30-90 minutes until one drops. If you're not sure that anyone is hunting gorangas, go ahead and ask once in OOC. (Primary rule, if you make a pest of yourself, people won't OOC that the club is rotting.)

on fennin ro it is safer to shout, but not more often than once every 15 mins or so. Many do not respond to ooc, as the chanel is often turned of.

Has the damage bonus on this club been nerfed recently? Or does it not show up on the item until the wielder reaches a certain level? Just ran my little monk into ME to loot this, and was wondering what's up. Still an amazing weapon for her level either way.

Damage bonus only shows up if you are high enough level and it goes up as your level goes up.

Why???
# Apr 20 2002 at 6:25 AM Rating: Default
I have to ask WHY cannot a beastlord use this weapon??? Most all the weps out there that have so many classes available to use including monks why cannot a beastlord use this weapon it is 1HB after all. It just bums me out that beastlord weapon choices are so slim and none till you are 50+ that it really hurts us to not be able to do some damage. Plz verant look at this issue. And before someone flames this and says "Oh gee whats that pet standing next to ya for? Yes I know we have a pet but till you have played a beasty do you understand that there are some places a pet is not really feasible to use due to control issues nor the fact that there is a huge level range seperation on pets between 30 and 49 that the pet just is not my viable option to be not included on so many dmg nor weapon choices. We really do have such an armor restriction that the only way to compensate is to do some damage.

Got 5k ?
# Apr 01 2002 at 2:44 PM Rating: Good
This item is decent if you don't have the 5k for a Jade Mace. The damage bonus in the main hand means a Jade Mace does more Damage Per Minute due to the fact that it swings every 1.8 seconds as opposed to the 2.3 seconds per swing on this item. I suppose this would be great for a level 35'ish that wanted to twink for free. But even then the Jade Mace is still slightly better DPM. By the time you get to a level where you can kill in Maiden's Eye, you will see why so many of these rot on the corpse :)

People tend to overestimate the impact that delay and damage bonus have on the total damage they inflict in combat. Roanin's post is a good opportunity to illuminate this fact with concrete numbers. Please note that all calculations consider no haste effects and that no attacks miss. Remember that the goranga spiked club gains a greater advantage from haste than the jade mace, because of its higher delay. (Since haste is a percentage reduction, higher delays will have a greater numerical amount shaved off them than lower delays.)

A level 35 melee will only have a damage bonus of 2 or 3 points when wielding a one-handed weapon. The jade mace will have a extra 3 damage every 1.8 seconds, while the club will have the same 3 damage every 2.3 seconds. Thus, the jade mace boasts a damage bonus of 1/6 of a point for every 0.1 delay of the weapon, while the club has a damage bonus of slightly more than 1/8 for every 0.1 delay of the weapon.

You can see how, at low level, the relatively minor difference in the two weapons' delays causes them to have very similar damage bonus numbers. Coupled with the fact that the club has a better ratio to begin with, it will do more damage at low levels.

Furthermore, the damage bonus will be 11 at level 60. The jade mace will then have a damage bonus of just a little less than 2/3 of a point per 0.1 delay, while the goranga spiked club will weigh in at a little less than 1/2 of a point per 0.1 delay. With a difference in delay of only 0.5 seconds, a jade mace will inflict about 10/3 points more damage in bonus damage than a goranga spiked club will, over a period of 2.3 seconds (the total time for the club to swing once). In terms of damage per minute, this adds up to roughly 87 additional points of damage bonus damage per minute, beyond what is inflicted by the weapon's ratio.

From these numbers, one can surmise that it is entirely possible that even at level 60, that 3.3 extra damage will fail to compensate for the superior ratio of the club. More precise numbers involving damage calculation of the weapons themselves are not available, so we are relegated to the realms of speculation on that score. It is evident that the club is better at lower levels, which benefit less from bonus damage, however. :)

RE: When does the Jade Mace get better then the GSC?
# Aug 25 2002 at 3:53 PM Rating: Decent
FYI, using the following formula for modal damage, the Jade Mace begins to eclipse the GSC once you get a damage bonus of 4+ for the main hand weapon:

(dmgx2+bonus)/dly

bonus of 1 - JM 1.056 GSC 1.087
bonus of 4 - JM 1.222 GSC 1.217
RE: Got 5k ?
# May 06 2002 at 7:35 AM Rating: Good
Yes some people do over estimate the impact of fast weapons, however the JM will easly out damage the GSC at high lvls. The GSG at lvl 50+ is very compairable to the Lam, and for that matter the Wurmy.

The JM does about 1hp more damage per sec than the JM with a damage bonud of 11. For holding agro the JM easly out does the GSC.

Compairing the two weapons at low lvl really isn't relevent for most people. Because of the cost of the JM and the fact that the GSC is nodrop.

Is the differance enough to spend major pp to get the Mace? I don't think so.

The GSC is a great weapon, very nice for those who don't play hours a day. One of the best weapons the casual player can still count on looting for themselfs

Just thought id mention this, but, like the guy said before, ITS FREE, and ITS BLUNT, as apposed to slashing. my warrior uses blunt vigorously, and hes doing great, though hes only got a mudman enforcer 8/20, and a centi warhammer 16/32. Im beggining to think i should run him up there and get him one of these, better reation than the centi, and besides, it seems no one else likes it, im sure he would :P Though, on another point, i still like my mudman, 20 dealy is awesome, almost on par with the jade mace, and to the peeps that think ration is everything... its not, delay is GOD, for me at least. with that 20 dealy i almost NEVER have trouble keeping agro unless the casters go out of their way to get beat on. :) darn suicidal casters, they asked for it

This is one of the nicest new 1hb(s) introduced with Luclin, 12/23 2str 5ac is just awesome. Granted, 9/18 of JM is nicer ratio, but that's about it as of JM. I'm dual wielding this and SoS (12/23 and 17/28) at lvl 56 + hangman's noose and I drop stuffs pretty fast (I don't have epic yet but I'm working on it hehe).

What he prolly meant was that a jade mace is faster than the club so people might opt to go with jade mace for the more frequent swings.

RE: Very nice 1hb

9 is half of 18

12 is more more than half of 23

trying to deside on this vs a wurmslayer

wurmslayer has a better ratio, but is a stamina sucker

what do people think?
RE: This vs. Wurmslayer
# Mar 27 2002 at 12:38 PM Rating: Decent
Wurmslayer is a garbage weapon. It has very high delay for a 1 hander so you lose out bigtime with the relatively small damage bonus. On a faster weapon the small damage bonus is more in line with the delay so you get way more benefit from it.
It weighs a ton so you'll be fatigued constantly.
It's giant sized so you need special packs to carry.
El junkers. Don't bother with wurmy unless you can find it for a nice cheap price and have alot of sta.
This guy isn't too bad tho.

RE: This vs. Wurmslayer

assuming you're a warrior, get this. IT's better for taunting, and it's... free. Also, there damage bonus on this affects your dmg/delay more than on a wurmslayer(so it does do more damage later on). Did I mention it was free??
Got one
# Feb 22 2002 at 12:09 PM Rating: Decent
Well I (lvl 22 monk) got this tonight. This is the way to get one if you are low level.

1.) Bank everything you got just in case you die so you dont have to worry about corpse retrieval.

2.) If your human keep something that gives you night vision (greater lightstone), or get a Serpent sight buff.

3.) SOW SOW SOW LOL Its a very easy run until you get to the caves in Dawnshroud except for one thing. There is mob that stays on the hill and will DEFINATELY attack. He hit me for 95 108 and 55. If you have sow you will easily outrun him.

Zone into dawnshroud and ooc for the club. I spent a total of 15 minutes in there max. In that time 2 dropped for people who were there before me. Well hope this helps.

What's with you people and nerfing weapons?? So what if it's "easy" to get. Looting a No Drop weapon off of someone else's kill that can't use it isn't hard. Doesn't mean it should be nerfed.
