Yes. They are Magic, but not Lore. They are also Primary/Secondary. So there should be no problems dual wielding them.
Also, on my server, these are up for about 4k in bazaar. I'd rather go down to the assassin room occasionally and get a pair! I got one last night. The assassin did not drop the Mask of Deception, FYI.
I normally pay 100pp for a SBD in bazaar or I go and farm a few in L'Guk. I hate mobs that run, especialy if I'm soloing in a dungeon, so I like to give my Warder a SBD and a Hand of Ixiblat.
I suggest getting the aa ablity Hobble of Spirits if you're a beastlord. It will imbue your warder with a 35% snare proc, which has a random duration. Not quite as good as this thing, but it does save you the trouble of tracking down one of these.
Ironicly, if you read my post under mask of deception, you can see I was already in the room, I was not aware the same mob drops this item as well. On PVP all resist gear is more, and most stuff with a decent prock goes for like 8 times as much as a blue server. Anyways, I aggree you cant really RELY on procs. However as a rogue with limited options, its one of those things you have to try and gear for. I also aggree poisons are probably more reliable, if nothing else then you have a chance to poison AND proc. I am a young rouge, but It seems we need all we can get, especially if trying to solo.
1)What dexterity is need for this to proc at a decent interval. For example, the Wakizashi of Frozen Skies seems to proc fairly frequently with a dex in the high 120's.
2)What is a SSOY?
Murna Larkin Rogue of the 27th season Ancient Guardians of Honor Fennin Ro
120 DEX is decent to make most weapons proc, SBD maybe 1 or 2 times in a decent fight. I use it to fear kite Sand Giants in the Oasis, and it'll hit 3-4 times with 163 DEX.
SSoY is Short Sword of Ykesha (8/24 - 75DD Proc, disrupts casting) Level 46 required for Proc. I used to use one of these too, and they're proc-happy little slashers. Don't recall what my dex was, but it procced above-average than most other weapons. Maybe it was just me... it's hard to tell with those sorts of things.
I found that after level 35 the proc gets resisted a lot. The idea of Fear Kiting with this is interesting but ID only works about 1 in 3 with my skill of 193. The proc off the SBD (Engulfing Darkness) gets resisted a lot. At higher levels the DOT isn't much. Snare is useful if no other snarer is around. I recommend it from level 1 to 35 as an off hander. Even without the proc it is nice. After that you will want a better weapon. At 37 I shifted over to a SSOY. Now, at 46 I use a Locustlure. But, to be honest, don't rely on procs. They are nice but leaning on them will get you killed. A dose of poison is more reliable.
This is a nice weapon. Though I don't know too much about it at this point I use Crystalline spider fang in main, And either Centi SS or Stiletto of Bloodclaw,This dagger,Needlite stinger (wich is nice if your a n00b)I like it and it doesn't proc for me yet
Got mine for free from a guild buddy, who didn't feel like carrying around two, he has also been trying to get me a Mask of Deception, whenever he is in LGuk, damn my guild mates rock!
P.S. I know the mask is No Drop, I hang around the desert in case one drops for him, and try to race to the corpse...
Last night, as I was minding my own business meditating at the LGuk zone, a player trained the entire Assasin room spawn (1 assassin, one wizzy, and one knight) on top of me.
I got up and noticed that the mini-train contained the assasin and that he was at half health while the player fighting it was at 25% health. I also noticed that the assasin was wielding a dagger. Cool, the one item I was never able to obtain from that room even after weeks of hunting there. I had some pp and was going to offer to buy it from the player.
So I stepped back from melee range and started to cast a greater heal on the player. Unfortunately, the spell takes 6 seconds to cast, and in 6 seconds, with all three mobs hitting her, she gave up and zoned. What a shame... the assassin was down to like 3% health. I quickly mopped him up and looted the elusive SBD.
I never did see the player again. I zoned to the other side and she was gone. Oh well, I think I'll keep it.

Depends on what you want. The Wakizashi procs at a lower level than the dirk (20 vs. 27, I think), and it's a 1hs weapon, so you can up that skill in your offhand. But, the SBD also slows and it's piercing (which SHOULD be a better stat for any rogue). I use both, with WOFS in offhand. Enjoy!

Was just running thru EC last night, when I hear a shout out to sell this Dirk. I ask how much he wants and he says 50pp. Hehe, I am still younger than 27, but I was like i'lltakeit and ran immediately to cough up the dough. Is this thing really goin for 500ish pp? Wow, sure got lucky on that one. Can't wait til it procs. (c;
OK it seems that this should be like a mainstay in any rogue's bag, if not hand. Personally my rogue has a faster spear and a better offhand weapon but I'd still like to have one just for the proc. The proc starts at level 27, it is part of the necromancer/shadow knight darkness line of spells that do damage over time and basically snare the target. It does not slow down their melee, just their movement for when they run (or chase you) and like stated below does 110 damage over about a minute of time. Also, as stated below, even at max skill instill doubt is still an unreliable method of fearing a mob so although rogues have the possiblilty to fear kite, if you rely on a weapon to proc and a skill to work/not get resisted don't expect to live long. Even if you have a better weapon just pop this in the primary hand and if it procs swap back to your better weapon. now if only I wasn't on a CR when that guy was selling one for 75pp...

It would seem to me that this weapon combined with instill doubt would make the rogue a solo class into the 40's. But you never hear of it like you do for Necro's and sometimes SK's. Any comments?
ID is very unreliable. Even at lvl 51 and the skill maxed at lvl 200 it fails on greens often. Still worth using in outdoor zones though. Make sure that the Backstab button is up before you attempt an ID. Will fail if it's not.
Yes, its the 12th level upgrade from "Clinging Darkness" and acts as a snare (40% speed reduction) and a DoT (11 hp/ 6 sec).
I've been on the reciving end of its trying to slip into Paineel and barely lived even after zoning since this thing was taking down my hp faster than I could regenerate even sitting down. Thankfully we Iksar are much hardier than soft-skins and a nice kobold wandered past (lifetap is a wonderful thing).

It will also debuff any other movement buffs on a mob. Or another player, if they have sow, it will strip your sow. I know that if you have disease for example its so many ticks, and cure and it removes so many ticks. I dont know if its level based or what, I am not sure if it will strip flight of eagles for example... but it strips Sow... Often. I believe the necros in stonebrunt stripped my 39th lvl sow with it. and they are way lower then that.
I am a lvl 37 Rogue. Just got my spine chilled spear, but do not intend to give up my bone dirk yet. The engulfing darkness is extremely usefull when a mob turns to run or you need to turn and run. A good fast high hit weapon in primary and this in off hand make a supurb combination.
