The Reason that it seems that they don't like rangers, is that this item drops off of some LOW level mobs in the NRo event, an is thus for LOW level rangers. Sure there's better things out there, but how many things can a level 8-9, non twinked ranger get?.
The whole NRo thing is designed for low level players, not the 45+ people that keep on dropping in to whack the NPC whose death ends the spawns and drops.

Besides which, if you ventured into the tougher event zones (Rathe, maybe EK), you could also get the very nice Silver Runed Jade Earring, +1 AC +3 str +3 dex +3 wis +5 SvMagic. I had stopped looking at ranger earrings that were /ooced until I heard about this. Works quite nicely with my forest loop, and if I had to choose between the two I'd keep it over the loop.
So don't say they don't like rangers just because this one item isn't so hot. There's plenty of other, better reasons to say they don't like rangers. ;)

They must not like rangers very much =(
This is not much stats, compared to some of the other items dropping. Pair up an orc fang in one ear, with a gold ruby earring in the other, and you're better off. But better than nothing.
