#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 07 2004 at 7:22 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) so anyway, aside from the stuff about how 90% of us wont ever wield this, thats what people were saying about lamentations back in the day, so just relax a bit you will get there some day :P and anyway, in my oppinion the picture for these should be sandles, you know damn well as a uber warrior you wanna wear funny boots or something interesting :P and the effects on this stuff is gonna bump your dps up alot, accuracy 8 and attack rating of 30, thats quiet insane, good luck getting these and congrats to anyone who gets these, and remember, SANDLES! RAR!

The point he's trying to convey, though he does it quite poorly, is that you need to get into a large, well equipped guild in order progress further into the game, but it is difficult to get into said guild when equipment or abilities required to get in are usually obtained within said big well-equipped guild. He's expressing frustration at the paradox presented and of how SOE fuels this problem by making incredibly difficult areas (ie Gates higher end zones and Time) that are incredibly hard to get into without a solid force of well-equipped people. Getting into this force, however, is hard unless you have a friend who helps you get better gear and skills or you were previously in a guild of such a nature or you have been playing the game for quite some times and have made the connections necessary to get into aforementioned guild. Without any of those three elements, it is very hard to get into a great guild without countless days of grinding (unless of course you happen to be fortunate enough to have an enchanter, in which case you can make as much plat as you desire once you've raised your jewelcrafting skills enough and have reached a high enough level).

The problem I have had with the PoP expansion is not that you need to raid, and put time in to get the items, its the SIZE of the raids that I don't enjoy. Some (I know, not all) of the key flags that you need to progress to the elemental planes, more or less require a raid of 50-72 people. One guild on my server did several of thses raids with 2 raids, of over 100 people. \

Then GoD came out. Its pretty tough (read impossible) to get very far in there, without at least elemental/timne quality gear. GoD has many smaller raid targets, and single group flags, etc. It sounds like it would be more suited to the type of gameplay my guild likes.

However, without somehow getting through the PoP roadblock, we're stuck farming Teir 3 planes, and luclin raid zones. We typically have a showing of 24-36 people for any of our raids which just doesn''t cut it for many of the harder flag raids.

Yes, I know some guilds do backflagging with raids that size, but that is with a force that is 70% time geared.

Most of our player base has tried the big raid guilds, and didn't care for them. We enjoy raiding, work together pretty well, but cannot seem to find nearly the number that we would need, and still keep our standards up. When I say keep our standards up, I don't mean gear, what i am referring to is having friendly, sociable people, who do not grief, KS, train, use foul language and so on.

From what I hear, EQ2 is supposed to be designed for smaller raid forces.

i think that the way sony goes about keeping endgame stuff for people who put alot of time into the game is the only possible method to give out this uber stuff. if they gave the best stuff in the game to people who played once or twice a week what would the people who played everyday have to play for? i say quit complaining and just play the game, in under a year i made it into a time enabled guild with no twinking or friends that helped me get in, just some grinding and knowledge about my class and how to play it and then impressed the right people and got into a good guild. i am sorry you can't make it into the endgame playing two days a week but the only thing i can say is you get what you put in, and people get what they deserve.
PS LDON was made pretty much for casual players that can only play a few times a week or are not in a guild that raids.

You make the points much better then he did and I'd just like to add that in addition I myself find it frustrating because the only reason I can't get into those big guilds is the play times I have. I play as often as I can which is two nights a week (all night) and every morning....the problem is I work third shift and finding groups at those times can be tough. My main is a 65 enchanter with a decent amount of aa's...not ebay or any such thing and I do quite well at playing my character. Many times I've had guilds (some of the big guilds that could get me through the raids I'd need for the right flags and the not so big guilds) try to recruit only to change their mind when I explain my play times. I don't truely fall into really any "areas" play time. Have had people tell me to join euro guilds....thats all well and good but I end up not being able to make their raid times either. So in closeing it doesn't appear so much that sony is rewarding the "dedicated" players as much as the power players that have no lives to contend with.

nah its more of you should try to make a guild with the people who play your times and such

i have that same problem with the time differences...there simply aren't any guilds that raid at 3am EST..or many solid groups to be found either! i don't think a person can really comprehend this unless you've been up and lfg or guild at those times..

i play a 67 bst on bertoxx and have a variety of alts i pass the time on...while i hear a lot of hype about the "endgame" and having this top level stuff, i spend my time exploring the original zones and just having fun seeing new (to me) things!

don't be quick to say "form a guild with people who play your times" though unless you know what those times are like and play them often... there simply aren't enough people completely dedicated to EQ on during graveyard shift hours..

and to those complaining about the upper level guilds, you're right! you can't be in one and have a full life outside of eq..there's a lot to be seen and experienced though in the game that isn't high end...leave the "hotspots" and find some stuff for yourself!

The harder something is to get, the more you will cherish it
never see these
# May 13 2004 at 12:23 PM Rating: Decent
so unless your in a big guild you will probably never see these or any other vadd's armour sheesh eq revolves around the big boys and if your not part of them your left to take the crap well that about sums up sonys attitude i suppose .. ......ok winge over :-)
#REDACTED, Posted: May 13 2004 at 12:57 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) What do you expect? You don't need these to tank you know. Yes, they make you tank better but there is other stuff you can use. Perhaps if they dropped in a newbie zone off a skeleton then you'ld be satisfied. It wouldn't be much of a game then would it? Sony is rewarding the most dedicated players, it's not taking anything away from the less dedicated. If they made newbie skeletons so tough that you need this stuff in order to tank then they would then be penalizing you.

I am not saying that these should drop in Newbie zones, but last time I checked, everyone but Legends servers pays the same price for to play. So your use of the term dedicated player is insulting to those of us who hold 2 jobs and get to play a couple nights a week. I am as dedicated to the game as anybody else. There are those of us who have Real Life commitments and cannot play 7 nights a week for 6 hours a night to be in the Uber guilds. I am in a casual guild and have decent gear for my lvl 65 warrior.

Next time you make a post about how Sony Rewards the hard core players, and yes Sony does reward them with the high end items like this. Please don't insult the rest of us.
