In today's game, it is sorta true that this weapon is a joke. The saves are impressive and all, but the ratio is terrible considering what you have to go through to get it.

Without diving into the issue of how loot is awarded, I would like to point out that this is a great archery tool for rangers in places (like ToV) where AoEs are a serious problem. Rangers, even with better gear, often pull out Swiftwind when they are shooting for it's secondary benefits. The concept is pretty similar with this weapon, and in fact the two would be a decent combo for an EQ/AM3 ranger who is using a bow in ToV.

The first time my guild saw this drop, one ranger was bright enough to realize this, and bid on it and won. I may not have made the connection had he not mentioned it, so I thought I would take the time to point it out :)

to bad you will be no good for the raid when you wield this then, cuz your dps will stink.
this weap is targetted at dual wielders imo

a decent weapon

This is a decent weapon especially for rangers who are still using the AGROcaller epic main hand. this has 1 more dmg same del so it is a straight out dam/del upgrade. 20 ac and all resists makes it ideal for main hand raid weapon. Only draw back is loss of HPs if you are a ranger. Ratio 1.6 better than swiftblade of zek ratio (1.636). Rogue/Bard offhand supurb choice too great for good dmg withought over doing the agro. Pal/SK honestly should just pass on this weapon as their dam del would just suffer. they have far better 1 handers but most use 2handers (I did say most not all). Warriors well nice offhander if they still using epic in offhand which I wouldnt count on if they got this far, but still an upgrade to their 14 24 epics. If they want I wouldnt blame them but for the most part it will get bagged then banked and eventually it will be handed down to Mr Destroy button.
hey if you want to add your opinion

bard, rogue or maybe ranger offhand? if the "main tank" doesn't want it pass that 20 ac and chock full o' resists down the melee line a tad will you taunt boy...

OK really, I'm sure that even those people who can get into ToV and are weilding epic or better weapons aren't going to ALL scoff at all the resists and AC and whoever said that only the main tank needs AC, last time I checked there were things like adds and MoBs with riposte and "your attempts at ducking clear of combat have failed"

just my 2cp

The discussion above is interesting for the following reason:

To anybody who is not yet able to venture into zones like the Temple of Veeshan this weapon appears to be one hell of an outstanding piece of equipment.

To those for whom the Temple of Veeshan is their daily camp, this weapon seems to be drawing yawns and even scorn.

I guess it is a matter of perspective, eh?

:)

#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 24 2001 at 2:28 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Why would a non Main Tank use a willsapper unless they are trying to slow? Slow has huge taunt which is bad if your not main tank.

Please don't flame me..But here is a direct quite from a from a member of a ubar guild I have talked to

"Its a great weapon..20 to all saves..Heh..Talk about BD gear sharpened and on crack!..Anyways, yah, I'd toss it in offhand and be happy with my willsapper in main"

Look, simple...Its OFFHAND ABLE..Even a MT would take it....Granted..The Willsapper aint the best, but not all here have primal, heh..If you can do sleepers you can just about get to Vuulak'Arr..This is meaning if you can do up to 3rd warder...And some guild may just be able to do this, and such..Well..Anyways...It is a great weapon

Stop blabbering about 'You need speed! You need Speed!'..Frankly, you don't to taunt...A Frostbringer/CLub of Ice Ocean will taunt up a storm...Better than Defiance/Lammy..

Granted, lets all realize that the Scepter of of Descrution is THE BEST taunt weapon in game..288dd proc with stun..and is 12/18...But even is it were 12/21..or hell..even 12/24..If you have good dex its gonna out taunt a fast weapon...

Well, thats my theropy for today..Post your Replies..Flame me if ya want...
Missing the point

ToV and the place in which you get this type of stuff, isnt even retrievable to the average or even above average gamer. This sorta stuff is won by the FEW and may i stress FEW!!! guilds who are highly organized and have very strict rules on being able to join for the fact of survival. You cant even join one of these guilds unless you have a DSL line or better, and a nice new state of the art computer. Even lag and being fractions of a second off on healing and such in these battles will account for an entire squad of 40-50 characters to be wiped out. The CRs from here are rather expensive to say the least. Coffins arent cheap. Anyway, a weapon like this is UBER, even to those super elite quilds which get it. A lot of the armor and weapons which are exceptionally good, are rare drops so killing valuk arr twice to get a single weapon is a unbelievably complex task. A weapon most likely wouldnt go to the MA tank, since it doesnt create a lot of taunt, and it doesnt add a lot of AC. Most spells that dragons caste are AoE, and most likely your MA tank will have max res by this time anyway. You dont get to Valuk arr with crafted armor by the way, it took nearly 2 years for the most elite guilds in the game to get enough experience and gear to be able to beat Valuk, so dont think any lesser guilds will pull this feat off by anymeans in the near future. If you dont have your epic yet, or primals are not in your vocabulary, please take a seat cause these types of weapons are far, FAR from your grasp. Just be happy with your lammies, they are uber enough for 99% of EQ

doah ;) missed the part about 20 ac. Dont I feel like as a$$.
#Anonymous, Posted: Oct 24 2001 at 10:15 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Wouldn't it make more sense for this to go to the puller? Making the assumption that he isn't a monk, of course. Oftentimes I see SK as puller because they also have FD, this would most likely go to them or maybe one of the other classes that can use, but almost surely not the MA, a MA on a TOV raid most likely would have better. Also, if you get someone(Sk or pal most likely, since they cant DW) with the shield of resistances and axe of resistances, thats a nice combo. 40 to all saves
RE: axe
# Mar 28 2002 at 5:31 PM Rating: Decent
As an SK me would not use this weapon, me would much rather see it go to a DW class as they would get the most out of this Awesome weapon. For SK/Pally there are much easier(and better) weapons to get than this when you are at this end of the game.
wrong

"1. This item will go to main/sec assist(tank)"

Why? This is NOT a good agro building weapon like Sceptre, Jaelds Katana, or Dagran's Tail. In fact, it has a high delay despite the good ratio, and would be bad for a main tank to use. Its a decent weapon but not amazing when compared to some other ToV stuff.
I love you

Thank you children for expressing your opinions about this particular item. Now.

1. This item will go to main/sec assist(tank)

2. This IS a good weapon to wield

3. No, you cannot have my twinkie!

Try posting on these boards when you actually have something to contribute, not the cliche this is a <insert class here> weapon or this weapon sucks because <insert ignorant opinion here>.

React!

#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 23 2001 at 6:14 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The resists and AC are nice, but the ratio on this is kinda lacking.

True, but sometimes it's better to have a stackload of extra resists on a weapon than regular melee stats or damage output. I can see this being useful - to any level of character - when fighting heavy-duty caster mobs.

#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 22 2001 at 9:12 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Very good melee and the resists and AC are sick...would make a GREAT off-hand weap, heh, or primary if ya don't have better.
RE: Axe
# Oct 23 2001 at 2:53 PM Rating: Default
Can you say reists gear this is the best resists item for the mainhand period the dmg/delay ratio is good but theres better in TOV but I wouldn't mind equiping this would be great for any class listed
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 22 2001 at 7:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Ooberr. Yeah. If i had like 5 55+ characters im sure i would have one of these but since im just a weak lil 33 warrior i know im a long ways off to gettin this item.
#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 22 2001 at 7:36 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The funny thing is a rogue I know had this defaulted to her...hehe it blows my mind :)
