# Oct 14 2004 at 1:21 PM Rating: Decent

On page 2 Brenlo states its an intended change and more items will be added later at thier discression.

70% slow for a pet at lvl 39+ is good for me.
yes pet weapon

With todays weapons with stats galore the poster saying pet weapon is correct.

I give it to my pet when I am tyring to solo named mobs.

Otherwise they are junk.

Not a pet weapon... if it was a pet weapon it would be labeled Race: NONE. Hence, shammy weapon :)

Not sure if your being serious, but the first poster meant the weapon is only good enough to be used on a pet.. or it sucks

Anyone know a 1HS weapon that a wood elf ranger can use that procs a slow spell? Thanks! )

*cough* Nope... Not-a-one... Ok, ok, /sarcasm off. Besides our epic (Earthcaller) which procs a 50% slow called "Earthcall" there is also the Willsapper from Vaniki in DN, however it only procs 35% slow and is Piercing. If you ask most Rangers, including myself, it's far less frustrating to get the right group together for a Vaniki run than to kill the thousands of denizens of Hate it usually takes to get the Earthcaller, you also get the damage bonus from WS if dual weilded with Swiftwind. EC has better slow, better stats, and is less often resisted, but the slow it procs doesn't last as long as WS. There is also a DoT component to the EC.
I'm not suggesting you bypass the EC for the WS, but while you're making multi-weekly runs to Hate for the Emerald, you might take that same group to Dragon Necropolis once or twice just to hold you over if you really want a 1H slowing weapon.
Best of luck.

Wilsapper slow is 50 percent, not 35.

Also, note that the Earthcaller has a DOT component in the slow, so watch it with mezzers.

I don't believe Wavecrasher drops anymore. Which sucks because it's a cool weapon.
definately 50+

you definately have to be above level 50. I bought one and it gave me the message (I'm in my 40's). I let my friend try it, she's a level 54 barbarian shaman, same race, diety, and class as me and she was able to equip it

Yes this weapon is no good till 51 when u get Turgur's but it may save you in the upper levels. Imagine a horrible pull at low mana. You cast Tigirs Insects ( AE level 58 50% slow ), and equip your SCHW or other haste item and haste yourself or get a chanter to haste you. Voila, you are now hasted between 71-100%, which drops the delay on this weapon to 15-19 or so, and the procs will happen in the first few swings of the fight. At level 58 this slows 68%, which is very good slow rate. As a primary slot item and +5 WIS +20 mana is better than alot of things if you dont have the epic yet, and one handed means you still get to equip a sheild. Yes its very situational, but I still carry mine. Definately worth the 500pp I paid for it. BTW, this is the ONLY item in the game with this proc according to Allakhazams. Its worth 500pp just for the 5 WIS 20 mana even if u cant use the effect and dont melee.

Forget the haste and beef-up DEX with a buff. Haste has no bearing on a proc. For reference, you can check out most class websites.

If you want a weapon to proc, go DEX.

Amose
RE: My 2 coppers
# Jul 31 2003 at 9:39 AM Rating: Good
While you are right, Amose, to say that Dex is what increases the chances of a weapon proccing - haste is very important too. A weapon can only proc when you swing it - and the more often and faster you swing it, the more often and sooner it can proc.

So dont forget the dex, but dont forget the haste either.
RE: My 2 coppers
# Feb 21 2004 at 9:21 AM Rating: Decent
Haste won't let a weapon proc more often in a battle. Doesn't matter if you're slowed or hasted, if your dex determines that you'll proc only 3 times per battle, that's all you'll proc. Doesn't matter if you take 30 swings or 10.

How can your dex know how long a battle will last before it ends?

If you have a 255 Dex you might have a 20% chance of proc with each swing (Example numbers, I dont know the real chance to proc). If you are swinging at the usual 30 delay you will proc within 15 seconds of beginning to swing on average. However, if you are 50% hasted you will swing every 2 seconds and thus can count on a proc within 10 seconds. 100% haste brings this down to 8 seconds on average. So, as you can see haste really does matter, unless I'm not understanding procs correctly.
RE: My 2 coppers
# Mar 11 2004 at 2:15 AM Rating: Excellent
Well you do not understand procs correctly

Each weapon has a PPM value (procs per minute) that is a function of a "base innate" value and your DEXTERITY (some PoTime mods and the Weapon Affinity also modify proc rates but it's irrevelant here).

Then, you factor in this PPM the delay of your weapon (post hastes/slow), PPM/delay gives you the % chance of proc per hit

Hence the slower you hit the more you'll proc per hit, the faster you hit (haste) the less you'll proc per hit

This has been tested a lot on the Warrior boards (steelwarrior) and every high end weapon statistics (dps, ...) is now given with the PPM@305 dex, not the Proc Per Hit.
Also note that this fact lead to warrior AE groups:
Warriors have an AE rampage AA, completely useless, but some people found that you could still proc on a rampage hit, they used that + Earthshaker (AE DD proc) against swarms of mobs, when slowed they'd get about 80% proc rate (aka 50 mobs = 40 AEs), around 40-60% proc rate (20 to 30 AEs per 50 mobs pulled).
Difference is noticeable and counts as a proof

Proc on Shilellagh
# Nov 26 2002 at 9:39 PM Rating: Decent
Hail All,

This weapon would be nice if we could use it before reaching lvl 51. As it stands it can only be used from 51 on, thus making this weapon useless to the twinkers. My only problem is with the proc. The spell, Togor's Insects, is a lvl 39 slow spell. In most cases a lvl 51 shaman is too busy participating in raids where mobs average in lvl from 50 to 65, I doubt a lvl 39 slow spell is REALLY going to do much help, especially if there is a good chance it will be resisted. I now have this weapon and at lvl 43 I'll have to keep it in the bank until I can use it. It is a good melee weapon though because even if it does have delay 30, shamans can cast a haste spell on themselves that can reduce the delay greatly. My two coppers...

U can acually Melee when ur fighting easy mobs, and saves mana when teh proc goes off fer slow, 2lvls away from 51, but if its free i'm happy. i only paid 500pp fer this so i'm happy, saw one after that fer sale in Bazaar fer liek 4k , so i know i got a deal

not soo good
# Mar 17 2002 at 2:43 PM Rating: Decent
i bought one these on Ab for 2k and pair cobalt gauntlets(about 3k worth on AB)

ANd its been waste of money (

This weapon is too slow to fight well with, and trying to rely on it procing to slow the mob means ur gonna get wasted!!
I have a club of the ice ocean ~ FAR superior weapon !!
Only use for this club is if ur low on mana and ur despweerate to slow a mob thats creamin the main tank- fought like this few times in velks: lol once was with a ranger and a rogue pullin spiders- i was healer and slower hehehe as u can probably guess it was hard work!

Hi there Oogha m8 hehe
Well I agree with Oogha
This weapon is too slow to fight well with, and trying to rely on it procing to slow the mob means ur gonna get wasted!!

Only use i have found for this is to go whack HG's in Rathe Mountains with my pet when i am short of a few $$
Even then some times it wont proc to end of the fight /sigh .. would be totally uber if it was right click .. even if they made cast time like 15 seconds IMO .
Oh by the way .. I was the fool who brought it off Oogha hehe .. ahh well ..it will make a good bit of kindling for a fire if nothing else :)

I'll test out your theory soon - am now 2 blues from 51 so when I ding if I can equip it then rock on - still desirable as hell as 1) nice ratio for melee which is fun hehe and 2) from my experience proc slows stick much easier hehe - anyways, whatever it'll be fun cause :)
NOT bugged

Just got this weapon and my shaman was level 50..said could not equip but once i turned 51 i was able to equip it..so i am assuming u cant use till 51..which makes this weapon not that desirable..verant should however make it Rclickable..and watch the price of it soar...

Togor's and Tagor's Insects are two different spells =). Same concept, just one is stronger than the other
Not Bad!
# Oct 11 2001 at 10:43 PM Rating: Default
It seems that alot of weapons and such for all classes are a bit stale, such as warriors getting swords, shamans spears, etc etc etc. Good to see a new item for shamans that can compare to the spears. Hands down this is worth dropping 1 Wis for my Spine chill for an incredible proc! Itrs just not cool its a random proc, this would be awesome if it was triggered. To give you a idea how much shammys would love it, at 42 Togor's costs me about 1m with high spec alt, so thats a whole bubble of mana free for something else!
Reminds me of...
# Oct 11 2001 at 7:06 PM Rating: Decent
Truncheon of Doom, a 2handed blunt weapon for warrior's only that drops in Sebilis. 33 damage 44 delay and procs Tagar's Insects at level 50. So shammies now get a 1 hand equivalent with a wis and mana bonus. 1 hand wis items that you can still combat with are always nice for shaman and it gives them an excuse to actually use 1h blunt instead of piercing all the time.

why does ANY priest class need a weapon to do damage with? lol I got epic as a druid and never melee
RE: Reminds me of...
# Oct 12 2001 at 6:43 AM Rating: Good
Shaman melee all the time, I know a few that tank better than same level (60) warriors. Druids/clerics dont melee, we dont have the stats for it where shaman usually have high str/sta from their race restrictions
RE: Reminds me of...
# Oct 12 2001 at 9:57 AM Rating: Default
Um, I'm a 60 cleric. I have 133 str. 1hb caps at 175. Shaman 1hb caps at 200. Warrior 1hb caps at 250. I'd say that the only way that shaman is out tanking a warrior is if he's naked with his hands tied behind his back.

This is a Very nice item! I should hope that it gets fixed in the next patch.

RE: bugged
# Oct 12 2001 at 11:49 AM Rating: Default
Doesnt seem to proc much for a level 60 player either. In playing around with this in EC, I had to kill 3 asps before it finally proc'd.

Disregard this message... everybody knows that nobody from the Guide program, even a GM, is allowed to post information about the game on forrums such as these. =/ Only Brad McQuaid and the other Staff Developers of Sony ever post anything, and thats always on the Everquest.com forrums only.

Hmm should be triggered IMO
# Oct 11 2001 at 5:55 PM Rating: Default
for the level of mob it drops off of, and considering that its just a simple slow. In order for it to be vastly useful it would need to be right click. Oh well guess everything in this game cant be uber

My guild pulled one of these out of Chardok Friday night. Since there wasnt a Shaman in the party they turned it over to me until we can decide what to do with it. Of course, being a nosy little bugger, I tried to equip it right off the bat. I got a message that said something like Wrong Race, Deity or Class..... It didnt say anything about level, but is this the message that pops up for wrong level also? I may be posting to answer my own question, as I intend on petitioning this when I log in today, and id like to hear what you were told also Honeypot. Maybe there is still some bugs to be ironed out with the thing.
