dont forget shams slow, mal on occasion, and CAN solo just as good as a druid if not better imho... they got the disease and poison dots... usually land easier then fire/magic. Have slow's, buffs and... a pet which is hastable. druids get snare fire/magic dots (and manaless dot/snare/root which is a big +) dunno if shamans have any manaless dot/root gear or not but theres an item that summons the 34 pet mana free (whoop for the higher shaman)

First, I won't contest that shamies can solo, I've seen it done quite effectively and yes their DoTs are pretty impressive BUT If you think that the druid magic based DoTs are often resisted then you need to start a druid and get your facts straight. Truth is the magic based DoTs almost never fail (assuming the target is not 10 or so levels above you). Second, I've yet to see a shaman quad kite, druids do. I'm done

you Know you REALY need to lvl more before you spout off like that this is NOT a solo gear item you local shammy will get poundings in grp and raid situation so AC is very important second with high wis items it opens slots for resist gear i would pass for a cleric
butt id be pissed if i lost this to a druid you just dont need it if you get pasted during a raid you REALY F'd up or... the camp got trained so get back to learning you class more

plz i have a druid and drones was resisted by a blue (very rarley) but the fire dot sux nuts... always resisted... (druids can only lower resistances on fire... but those have to stick...)

I've yet to see a druid solo a WW dragon. Shammies can and have. The weaker ones mind you.

You dumb sob, the reason is the class balancing issue of not letting Druids have high AC, and this shield has more AC then just about everything in the game. This is also the reason why you dont see any INT casters on the list. There are no melee or hybrids on the list because it would overpower them.
Imho, I think Clerics have no right to complain that their role is boring. If they think their class is boring, they should have quit back before level 10 and made a Rogue.

This item has nothing to do with class balance. The mob that drops these, drops super high AC items for all classes.

Druid beastlord--45 ac arms
sk/pally/war---80ac axe
50 ac helm many classes can wear
40ac gloves that even druids can wear.
45ac arms casters can wear
Just to name a few.
Vulak'Aerr is all about high AC items for all classes. At the level 60 and the amount of uberness you need to get these items, not much is going to unbalance the classes.
