Difference between raids and events
# Sep 24 2001 at 10:43 AM Rating: Good
There are two types of GM run "events". The first is what is usually just called a raid and is just that. The Guides get all decked out as monsters and go whack people until the people kill them. They usually dont have any kind of rare loot in this case. The second type of GM run thing is the event, and the event is divided into two instances. The First is done by the Guides on that server, and is usually nothing major that changes the world as we know it, and thus the rewards for the quest aren't as good. IE, they're ususally for lower level or mid level players at best. The Second kind of event is often known as Events, and these usually have something to do with the continuing storyline of Everquests' "persistant characters", IE Firiona Vie the high elf paladin, or Al'Kabor the stuck up Erudite wizard of great power. For example, what happened in the Karanas was done as an Event. ALL Major Events are done by the GM squad known as the Quest Troupe, these are the guys who run around from server to server pulling off the big events that loot like this comes from. And it is only in these cases that loot like the above is created and given out at the end.

So lets keep our facts straight... not all "GM events" are the same.

Events suck
# Sep 24 2001 at 2:20 AM Rating: Default
In almost a year of playing on Xev, I've heard of maybe 3 GM events, all of which were stupid and sucked horribly. And I was run over by one. In GFay. As a level 3 Noob. I died 4 times. I don't know what the hell it was, but it was stupid for GMs to be holding an event in a newbie area and slaughtering newbies. And that was under Imia. :P

Besides, you guys who are getting your names changed on Xev, you all deserve what you get, Imia just didn't enforce the existing policy.

Yea, the GMs on Xev do suck, and yes, all they ever do is eat PC names, (firsthand exp. and guild exp.)
Whats a GM?

Yes, I agree Vazaelle is lacking in the Strong GM department, as of this far I am not quite sure what they do besides telling me to have fun sucking wind.
Imia is missed

Xev server rarely sees it new GM do anything but eat PC names for breakfast. Things were a lot more fun and interesting when Imia was around.

Which event was this?

Drinal either. I am so disappointed in this fact. Never get any gm events. Last one was months ago. Lasted all of 10mintes.

i have been playing on Vazaelle for 7 months. i have heard of two GM events and seen none. It seems some servers get quite a few more than we do. Does Vazaelle not have it's own GM? (sorry, i know this is off topic for here)
Which event was this?

Could you elaborate on the event in which this was given? I wish more people would tell things like that. I have been playing a few months now and have not been apart of let alone SEEN a GM Event, I am beginning to think GM's on Vazelle suck.. which is too bad because it is a fairly new server.
