Does anyone know if the 2 items are able to be foraged again? I have been trying off and on again for a couple of weeks.

I am on the Mith Marr Server. Does anyone know about the foraging situation there? I just made 20, (WOOT!) and going through the Warrens is still a major pain. I can grab some dudes to come with me, but I don't wanna unless this quest is fixed!

Any info would be helpful!

Proc's per mob
# Jan 08 2002 at 1:47 AM Rating: Default
My bard uses a ssoy and this sword. As a 40th Bard i am not into dealing heavy dmg, and yes I know there ar much better weapons out there... But i haven't gotten around to going and getting them. With the new katta's sword dance song (which is supposed to be bugged but i don't see it) my dex is 214. With the Yak in my Pri and Wak in sec I proc about 18-20 times a kill. now at least 5-6 of the Yak procs are completely resisted But I, atleast, get a 25 point Spirit strike proc unless they have a great cold resist. Conclusion, let say in fairness I get 6 good procs with the yak and 9 good procs with the Wak. which is about normal. < 6x75= 450 magic Dmg to the mob; 9x81= 729 cold Dmg to the mob. 450 + 729= 1179 dmg in just procs... to me that makes up for the low Dmg of the weapons. But i have the High dex to deal that.
Just because a weapon doesn't have High Dmg doesn't mean it isn't obsolete after 25-30. Now with a warrior that may be different. The taunt caused by those procs is for you to handle, but then i heal 1 member in the same time as i do 6 members... see a picture here? i will willingly take dmg due to taunt to keep down time at a min. But that is just me.
Good luck all.

On December 30th, 2001 my wife just foraged the Fruit and Bamboo! :) This is on the test server, so possibly not back on live servers yet.

Hopefull news though at least.

Well maybe they are in the process of "fixing" it and it will be carried over to other servers soon.

What level is your wifes foraging skill. Mines over 170 now and still no luck, so I took a vacation to Velious for a couple weeks.

I got parts to make 8 swords now. Maybe I can finally buy that lammy I been wanting if I can just forage some fruit.
awsome weap!!

i just bought one of these for a huge deal of 550, i guess its not too much of a deal when they range from 500pp to 1000pp. but im duel weilding this and icetooths claws, which makes it awsome when you duel weild them.

YOU slash a mammoth for 27
YOU slash a mammoth for 25
YOU slash a mammoth for 23
A mommoth is hit by the spirits for 81 points of damage.

all of that in a few seconds!! its awsome!!

What class was the high level character? And did he JUST forage the items or had he had them awhile and just decided to get rid of them?

I've tried and tried to forage these items since finding out about this quest, all to no avail. /cry

Looks like.... :(

Just my luck too, I had the bamboo shoot in my inventory for about a month now and had to make room for other items, so what do I destroy? You got it, the bamboo shoot! Not the foraged berries or veggies, but the damned bamboo! D'oh!

That'll teach me to not research items before I destroy them.

I dual wield these. It's like wielding two very small sewing needles as far as damage, but the delay is magnificant combined with the proc. In less than a second, I will often see:

12
14
16
Crit!(36)

And then about two procs for 81 a fight, average. Some fights 6+ procs. It's like being a wizard/warrior hybrid. With such low delay, I never fail to taunt things off of the cleric/enchanter/stupidwizard.

Heh, and just think what it'd be like for rogues. High dex, and backstab working in their favor? Get a good piercer, and dual wield this with it, and you can prolly top off at least 3 procs a fight, with the BS. Now if only we could actually quest these little beasties....

this is a very nice weapon it is worth atleast 700pp its is equal or better when compared to ssoy. look at it 8/24 compared to 6/22 . the ratio on ssoy is better but doesnt proc until 36 or 37 and is alot more resisted. my brothers ranger duel wields 2 waks and has a average of 5 or 6 procs per fight. he also only has 75 dex. the dex helps procs too. lets say if you proc 5 times and only 4 land then thats still 324 more damage i think that would well make up for the little damage lost to the ratio.

I purchased one of these for 300PP the other day for my 20 Warrior and i still see people trying to sell for 1kPP. Anyone that pays that much is out of their skull. 300PP is alot for this below average weap with a nice proc. It doesn't proc enough to make it worth that much. You may disagree but an average untwinked player doesn't even have 500PP saved until mid 20s and by that time this weapon is obsolete. When it won't proc until 19 and is obsolete by mid 20s, that is alot of PP. Just my 2 Copper.

WTF obsolete at mid 20's???? I agree that the price may be high. But even on the nameless, where prices are relatively low from what I hear, this wouldn't be obsolete for awhile. I mean yeah I want more damage per hit but I will not compromise on speed. And anything as fast and more damaging will cost a whole hell of a lot more.
RE: Weapon is not that good.
# Dec 20 2001 at 9:30 AM Rating: Decent
Just thought it was my turn to add my 2cp. YES this wpn will be mostly obsolete by the mid 20's. Take that 500pp you could get this for and get Icetooth Claws 11/29 AND Blackened Alloy Longsword 10/29. I have purchased BOTH of these on Povar for less than 200pp each. You only give up a litte in the delay but significantly add the damage and the ratios are MUCH better. Yea the proc is nice, but by mid 20's you need something more dependable than a proc. Damage Ratio!

Again, just from my experience.

aight, i gots all yoo's a queshion...what would be better to duel wield wit, two of these, or two ssoy's, i know the proc on this thing rules, yet i am only 13 (hoping my friend will PL me) and i've heard good things about the effect ykesha...i think its a 70DD proc or so...or the WotFS that has a proc of 81DD...i looted a sentry bracer off of a sentry in SS, it was one of mah friends kills, and i would like to get my moneys worth for this, sucks that the prices went down from luclin but i'm sure its still worth a couple k, and these are about 1k each (prolly less from luclin) but in short: which to get, a SSoY or this?

BIG difference that nobody has metioned yet on this thread: the Wak procs about 20 levels lower than the Yak. If he's 13, the Wak is close to proc level, whereas the Yak is forever away.

Gimme the Yaks any day. They hit harder, period. Break it down, 8 24 and 6 22. That's 2 points of damage every 2/10 of a second. The stronger you are the more this goes up as well. Also, the proc on the WoFS is only 6 points more than the Yak. I know sometimes every last point of damage counts, but seeing as it doesn't proc all the time (though I know some of us wish it would) it's just sucking away the melee damage you could be doing with a heavier hitter. My 2 cents, do with it what you will.
RE: was better?
# Dec 08 2001 at 4:17 PM Rating: Decent
People try to say that Wak's are better than SSoY's, but look at the Dmg/Delay ratio: Short Sword of the Ykesha is 8/24, which gives it a rati of 3. Wakizashi of the Frozen Sky is 6/22 which makes it 3.666667. Add them together, 6(SSoY) or 7.333334(Wak)? Hint: lower is better.

IMO Waki's are much better than a Yak. Mostly because of the effect, but lower delay means more chances at a procurement.

If the Weapon procures, you're doing 81dd cold compared to 75dd magic. The Waki's proc will also partially hit, where the Yak's will not. It's an all or nothing proc.

I was dual weilding these with my warrior in Velk's lab, and while the procs would go off 3-4 times a fight, I'd get partial hits from the cold based proc. The yak was resisted almost every time.
Also, I was out taunting the main tank in the group due to the procs, which ended up meaning I had to switch weapons because these kept me at MoB enemy #1. After I switched back to my normal Wurmy and Guard sword, I had no chance at out aggroing the MA.

I recently switched these over to my bard. With the haste songs up, and the dex/strength song, I'm getting 4-6 proc messages (even though he's too low) each fight, and the fights are quick as it is.

I can't wait until my bard hits 19...

This is very much off-topic, but I had always thought that "proc" was an abbreviation for process, not procure. Seems to make a little more sense; the effect is "processed" and produces a result when the proc occurs.

How Do Procs work??
# Nov 28 2001 at 11:47 PM Rating: Decent
I play on a pvp server where low dly on weapon is very nice. I am interested in buying one of these becuase of the proc, but dont know how procs work.
I know dly does not matter, and dex influences number of procs. I want to know if u need to be in sight of what you are attacking to have it proc. What is the range on the proc, is it point blank or not?? and what happens if i get rooted and nuked and leave my attack on, will it still have the chance to proc?? Plz respond with your info.

this is a nice proc. hits for 81DD starting at lvl 20. fast weapon. procs alot and hits for full 81 alot. even better for a dual wielding rogue with high dex or as a main for someone with a slow hard hitting weapon in off hand.

Broken Quest
# Nov 28 2001 at 9:51 PM Rating: Decent
I am very upset this quest is broken, Several rangers have camped in SBM and have come up with nothing for the fruit or the shoot. I reccomend rangers and druids who are upset at the new and recent changes to forage skill please send some feedback. I did a feedback stating they should change it back and then and a sorter to the skill. With a sorter you may not be succesful all the time but at least if you want food you can set the sort so thats all you look for, if you want items you set the sort. That is a more practical solution, and its more realistic.
I got it for dirt cheap!

I was in EC looking to by some new armor and I hear "... auctions "WTS Wakizashi of Frozen Skies" I knew I didn't have enough money (I had 236pp at the time) but I asked to check out what she was selling it for. She said 500pp and I said I had only 236pp. Then she said she was in a hurry and that would be good enough. Gave her 220pp in the end, usually a half or a quarter of what it usually goes for... yay! Proc is a 81dd ice damage proc.

since the last patch on November 7th, 2001 when they removed the trival loot code you can no longer forage the Palm Fruit or the Bamboo Shoots.
this has been a problem on about 7 confirmed servers so far. so untill they fix that, Swords will have to be bought from other players, if you would like to do the quest pls, do a /bug report if you find that you can not forage on your server.

Which is a better offhand for rouges, Serrated Bone dirk or Wakizashi of Frozen Skies?
RE: Better wep
# Nov 29 2001 at 4:14 PM Rating: Decent
I'm not sure on this but from what I've noticed, you don't get your dmg bouns when you use a piercing weapon. With a 1hser you do. The dirk does a snare/dot proc. The Wakizashi does 81dd. In a combat you would do about the same dmg potential. The proc and what you need it for should determine what weapon you want to use in your offhand.

Check this out.I just got back from SB.Spent 5 hours there and got 6 claws.Best place O found was right next the entrance to the mines there on the other side of the wall where the archers are.I planted my pet right there and went to work.Youll find that the pandas and gorillas have a path that goes right in front of there and makes for easy pulling up to your ledge there..You can see everything. If you get any addy's simply run throught the lil opening of the cave and run all the way to the end of it .There seems to be a glitch there lol.I got in trouble about 6 times and everytime ran to the cave and made my escape. And yes,Claws drop off of every panda..

I was wondering which of these weapons(this Wak or Ranger only sword 7 24 and 40dd root proc) i should use as a lvl 30 ranger inn my secondary slot. My primary is a wurmy.
RE: Weapon
# Nov 12 2001 at 6:12 PM Rating: Decent
Use the Wak, regardless of whether you're soloing or in a group. In my opinion, the proc on the EBS is absolutely useless and counterproductive in a solo situation. The vast majority of what you'll be hunting will be animals, and the way you'll be hunting them is by fear-kiting since that's the only kind of mob that rangers can fear. Fear spells don't work while a mob is rooted; they'll still attack you until the root wears off, then they'll run until the fear drops. You know the drill. Snare, fear, obliterate, repeat.

I experimented with dual wielding Waks when soloing, and even though I got plenty of procs, they still couldn't hold a Wurmy's jock strap in terms of damage output. You'll be happy with a Wurmy+Wak combo throughout the 30's, maybe beyond.

As of last night, there's also no palm fruit or bamboo shoots being foraged in SB, at least on Xegony. Good luck!
Fortunately, being a pack rat by nature, I had a stack of each in the bank. :) Price of these may be going back up temporarily. Don't know if this is affecting other servers, I haven't seen any other mention of it yet, but heard that it was confirmed broken by GM (yeah, just hearsay, I know), and where normally I foraged so many of the things I was dropping them left and right and giving some to kobolds as newbie prizes, I didn't get a one of either in about 10 hours there tonight. Yeah, it's supposed to be rarer, but nobody else seems to have gotten a single one either.
RE: tlc
# Nov 09 2001 at 12:10 PM Rating: Decent
I can confirm the absence of foraged items.

I traded 2 palm fruits, 2 bamboo shoots and 4 asp sacs for a pair of panda claws since I'm lucky to find even a yellow panda cub. Was hoping I'd be able to forage up more but haven't so far.

A very nice Druid gave me 3 more palm fruits and 1 bamboo shoot so I still have 4 of each and 6 asp sacs left.

At this point I have enough foraged items for 4 swords if I can get the other stuff, and a deal with another druid to trade tiger skins for panda claws.

All in all, I'm happy that I finally found someone who was willing to wheel and deal so I can get one of these beauties. (or 4 for that matter)

After two weeks of hunting in Stonebrunt, everyone in our grp had at least one. those of us that can dual got two. Caster got one or more.

Prices seem to be dropping though. My shammy sidekick traded her first one for a blue diamond and then sold that. She's has another one for sale, but as I mentioned 1k pc is not holding at all... ive seen them going for 600pp.

I am a level 44 Shaman and have completed this quest several times. At my level in SB, I can still get exp off Young, Mature and Elder Pandas. They are hard hitting and not that easy to find. And yes...SOW has saved my life from adds MANY times.

The best hunting is by the lake: Pull up to the wall, to avoid adds...and off the front porch of Kitty City. Cats won't help you if you get in trouble but don't care if you kill other cats (tigers) either.

Also hunted here with my lvl 32 cleric and Warrior friend. Good advice to get group before coming. We were often the only ones there. My friend's warrior is duel wielding these now and LOVES them. He gets 3 or 4 procs per fight.
