# Jan 14 2002 at 5:53 PM Rating: Default
Well i just bought this today in Firona Vei and i think its not such a bad weapon. The stats are almost the same as my Icetooth Claws 11dmg 20 dly.. with this being 11dmg 30dly. Makes a nice dual combo for a 20 war.

Casters
# Sep 08 2001 at 6:18 PM Rating: Good
Heh, forget for melee there are much better weapons out there. For casters however this is very nice. Now dont go off about how caters shouldnt melee, i know this, but I would love this weapon for my wiz to kill spiderlings in one shot without using mana or to finish off the snared mob without using a full nuke. Not many wiz usable weapons out there with a dam over 9

I believe I know what this is for. In Erudin, visit the inn with the man named Collier in the upper floors. Using sneak I managed to get a quest out of him.
He says he needs the blood of a necro, an ancient posion sac, an ancient poison fang, and a venemous spikefish gland.

Hm, that sounds like he can actually make an even better weapon using those items. Getting back a single dose of Poison for this would be rather feeble.
So-so weapon for rogues

Mr. Anonymous who posted about the Rogue's use of weapons... Careful what you say =p I'm a 55 rogue and I tend to go more for dam/delay... but for my OFF HAND. Main hand is Ragebringer (obvious choice since I don't have access to Primal or Priceless, PLUS the Dam/Delay on RB is quite nice) with currently a BP as offhand. (Hard to beat the dam/delay of 10/21 for offhand) There's a few other weapons I wouldn't mind using offhand instead of the bloodpoint... but it'll be a while. However... as an 11/30 this weapon is not worth offhanding at mid-higher levels due to the delay, and again, it's not too suitable for a rogue at these levels either for main hand. (other weapons easier accessable and better. Gloomwaters aren't that expensive and are a little slower with a little less damage but has str/hps) or a Slime Coated would probably be a bit better than this as well. (as it has no stats). Also... having no stats on this.. TrakTooth is much better and ya probably only need a little higher of a level to obtain one through hunting. (10/20 pierce main hand only) Serp tooth is also much better (13/25 +3str either melee).
Also.. the poison proc on this weapon is nothing for a rogue, unless it procs often (which means said rogue using will be taking alot of agro). Maybe use this baby when you need to get aggro off of something (Ala the old SBD's)

While I don't play a rogue, my understanding is that you'd want a weapon like this (high damage) to hotkey swap into main when your backstab button pops. then backstab, get huge damage, since backstab is based on weapon damage, not delay, hit the hotkey to swap back, and keep fighting. Using that technique, all of the 10 or less damage weapons you mention are not better, you'd want both, if you could get them.
RE: So-so weapon for rogues
# Sep 22 2001 at 12:57 PM Rating: Excellent
All those piercers would be great if a non-twinked mid level rogue could actually get them.
most of those are off of mobs much much higher than that, therefore, at this level, for non-twinks, it would be an awesome upgrade to the bloodstained fang that some are using, you get 2 damage, and you don't lose any delay.
not to mention the poison effect, even if it only procs once per battle. unless you want to sit and reapply poison to your blade, you only get one off anyway.
Of course if you've had one of those really expensive piercers from the start, you'd have absolutely no clue what the value of this was.
Not a bad weapon
# Sep 07 2001 at 10:44 AM Rating: Decent
Just entered the stats on this into Coplands, and for a bard at least this isn't a bad piercer. Rates at 176 DPM for a 21st Level Bard with 115 str. A Crystal Grinder (which sells for over 500p on Xev) only rates 154 DMP.

one addition, procs exactly at level 15.
Agreed
# Sep 06 2001 at 8:37 PM Rating: Default
Agreed Mr. Anonymous...

I've heard a lot of rogues say they go for weapon ratio because they need to do damage real fast... Well, a level 58 rogue once told me, the higher the damage, the better... what's better? Doing 200 damage in 6 seconds meleeing, or 3900 from backstabs? He said to trust him... BS with 10+ dmg weapons will easily out damage just poking with good ratio weapons

But I watched my 52 druid buddy get mulched by this guy since he could never land a snare on him... watch out =)
RE: Agreed

The new named mobs in SB are 100% snare resistant (that big kodiak, this guy, and old ghostface)

#Anonymous, Posted: Sep 06 2001 at 8:31 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) the dmg is 11 great for only really rogues cause of the bstab but why the hell would a warrior or anything else bother with this when it comes off a lvl 40 mob anyway?? at their lvl they all will probably have a wurmslayer anyway
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 06 2001 at 11:02 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) all probably have a wurmslayer... no. Probably not, gay delay for a warrior. 15stone. gay. I wouldn't use the Gayslayer at any level. Other than that, good post. =)
RE: THIS is worth getting
# Sep 07 2001 at 9:05 AM Rating: Default
Weight is 5. A stone=14 pounds. 14x5=70. I almost doubt this is a 70 pound dagger. ;)
RE: THIS is worth getting
# Sep 07 2001 at 11:23 AM Rating: Decent
Actually, one stone equals 10lbs...good way to see this in action is go fishing in Fiorona Vai, you can catch all kinds of stuff like 16lb bass....weight 1.6...

Great little rogue piercer though...nice high dmg for those backstabs...grats on a nifty little item you little theives :).

A stone is an actual unit of measurement. Merriam-Websters defines it as equalling 14 pounds. As TheUnnamedOne pointed out, the measurement units in EQ are neither pounds nor stones. Just encumberance units (EU they should be called) to decide just how slow your guy's going to walk once you're carrying 30 BPs, 9 legs, and 7 arms.

And food and water.
Weights in EQ...
# Sep 07 2001 at 12:09 PM Rating: Default
Actually, the weight system in EQ is seriously misrepresented. Sure the 15 pound bass shows WT:1.5 but does that mean that 1 bass weighs 1.5 or a stack of 20 bass weighs 1.5? (are the bass stackable? I'm not sure)

Think about it... Wurmslayer is WT:15.0, I seriously doubt there's ever been or ever will be anyone that can fight with a 150 pound spear in one hand.

If you calculate a stack of 15 pound bass equals 1.5 then you get 1.5 equals 300 pounds. That doesn't make sense either.

WT in EQ is just an encumbrance system. It doesn't have a consistent actual pound value associated with it, its just a way to keep your character from carrying around his entire inventory of 20 weapons and 3 full suits of spare armor on him at once without any penalty.
RE: Weights in EQ...
# Sep 07 2001 at 2:25 PM Rating: Default
Hate to break it to you friend, but its worth the time to look up ancient weapons. There were weapons that weighed upwards of a hundred pounds or more. While a 150 pound spear does sound a little odd, take a look at the old scottish claymores. A sword that is almost the size of a man completely made out of forged steel is not light by any means.
RE: Weights in EQ...
# Sep 10 2001 at 9:07 AM Rating: Decent
Hate to break it to you, but a 6 foot blade weighing 150 pounds would have to be made of spent uranium. Claymores usually weighed around ten pounds or so.

http://www.irishclans.com/articles/weaponsirish1.html

"Overall the swords weighed much less than people think, most only six or seven pounds, although there are examples that weigh as much as ten pounds."

Did you see this snake... his fang HAS to weigh at least 70 pounds... that makes the damage so much higher, and the delay higher as well... imagine trying to thrust a 70 pound dagger at someone, and just imagine when it hits!!!
