RECHARGABLE?
# Mar 13 2007 at 7:12 PM Rating: Decent
anyone tried recharging these? i have used all 6 types of mana batteries inside a collapsed tool box..nothing happened; hate having to redo quest every 10 mins as a soloing monk.

I use these on my enchanter main and other alts. They don't disappear when they are out of charges... wondering if maybe they are somehow rechargable as they have no other stats to be of any other use.....

Crystalline Silk Net does not snare - it roots.

Unless I am mistaken - TLC is in fact still in effect on FV. Could be wrong but don't think so. If mob cons green to you don't kill it cause yer gonna ruin someone else's chances for the bag of dice. All yer gonna get if you kill the Prince is a bit o cash an not much at that.
RE: Hmmmm -
# Jan 11 2006 at 6:05 AM Rating: Decent
They tried the Trival Loot code on other servers than FV.. all of them, I think? It was very short lived. Anyhow, I played on Rallos Zek (which is currently merged into Zek), where the TLC was in effect for a while.. a sort while. I believe the poster below may be referring to this time period. Or maybe he is from FV!

Hey, I can solo large undead (Think Rathe Mt skellies) by fear kiting em now with my PALADIN. How cool is that? Oh, and of course the trivial loot code is no longer in effect. So stock up on em!

For like a low level cleric or a low level enchanter (even of level 20) this would be a great item. Its NOT lore, so you can have more then one. The reason being both clerics AND enchanters get fear, but not snare. A rooted mob will hit whatever is closest to them, and fight to the death. Around 20ish most classes can still melee also. So snare, fear and bash them. Now you have fear kiting clerics and enchanters. Its a very usefull item, even rogues can instill doubt, then snare. backstab their wasy to heck and back. The only really confusing part of this is you pretty much have to forage the one part... so its obviously druid/ranger implied. Ill bet I could sell these for a bit, like one said, especially on PVP.

You must have this confused with another quest. This only requires the bag of bone dice from the Prince in The Warrens.

I agree it is a great item for the dificulty in aquireing it. In fact it may be the only item from the warrens/stonebrunt that retains any value to you as you gain higher levels.

It and the quest component are no drop though, so no selling this.

Personally I like using this...the Warrens are fun to play in. It can be a real life saver.

What bothers me the most is the players who whine and moan about every item that doesn't instantly make them uber...

Enjoy the game for what it is

NOT a waste....first off im a 58 chanter and i solo in PoN all the time....now lets see what would make this safe for when my pet charm breaks....let me think SNARE
RE: what a waste
# Dec 16 2002 at 8:33 PM Rating: Decent
Picture the look on a druid's face when he's trying to kite some hapless roag when suddenly he finds himself snared, with the formerly hapless roag now beating the snot out of him while he desperately slams his finger on the *gate* key. That image alone is worth the trouble of questing for this item whenever you are out of them if you happen to be playing on a pvp server.
RE: what a waste
# Dec 15 2002 at 12:36 AM Rating: Decent
You are looking at this all wrong.

This item is very good for a high level Warrior, snare would be useless to the class for soloing and such but snare is a very high agro spell. By getting this item from an easy quest, you can keep agro off of clerics and other classes that shouldn't get hit. Having this as a MT on a raid would be very useful. For 5 seconds of quest in a low level zone, this is a GREAT item!
RE: what a waste
# Nov 26 2002 at 10:04 AM Rating: Excellent
Ardnahoy,

You miss several great uses for this item that make it very worthwhile.

I'm a charm solo'ing chanter. Occassionally, charm will break, which is usually no big deal, I just run away for a bit (with my trusty sow potion), cast an aoe mez (which catches both the mob i was killing and my former pet), wander back and recharm my pet, and when mez breaks the killing resumes.

Now, where something like this would be VERY usefull is on those occassions where I have a pet that matches sow speed, or am fighting a mob that does. In those cases, which are rare as I generally pick my targets, but adds happen, this can be a life-saver.

It's not a "use on every mob for a level" item. It's a "damn I need to save my butt once during this level" item. And it is a darn good one at that -- it's easy to get, and very very usefull.
yarn!

now i know how those kobalds make all those burlap clothes! No wonder they use tanto's and jutte's and yari's! they use piercing weps to sew burlap clothes! The warrens isnt a dungeon! Its a clothing factory! WHAT HAVE I DONE!?!?!?! I guess Erudites are very competitive when it comes to fasion and the textile industry!

lore?
# Sep 06 2001 at 7:21 AM Rating: Decent
its only listed as no drop if yarn isnt lore then i suggest getting this thing as many times possible.the problem with these trivialcodes is that their purpose is to prevent farming but at the same time give the items value yet don t give the guy who can get this stuff any way to sell them.if the dice are no drop as stated before then this is a good quest to make money on the side. Its much easier for a caster to get off spells on a snared mob.of course wether its worthwhile depends on how long snare last.anyways this is marketable wether profitable or not or worth the effort would depend on how effective snare is.I know i would pay for a long lasting snare it would make soloing a lot easier

This is yet another good item for a monk from the stonebrunt mountains. All other classes that get some kind of "fear" ability also have the ability to slow thier target. Monks don't. Bards have songs that "snare," rogues have poisons, the rest have spells. A monk could really use this to start fear kiting. Of course it'd be good for anyone else too.
RE: lore?
# Apr 15 2002 at 2:06 PM Rating: Decent
Clerics can fear without slow/snare, as well as enchanters I believe.

Dice
# Sep 04 2001 at 2:45 PM Rating: Decent
Hey,

I kept the dice myself after they dropped because I thought "hey, neat! a little bag of bone dice!" I stuck em in the bank and now I can actually use them. The snare is cool.. a great escape device paired with a sow potion! I hate running away and being beaten down from behind.

Im pretty new at this game, so how else could you apply the snare at higher levels?

Thanks,
T
Yarn is candy?
# Sep 01 2001 at 8:28 PM Rating: Decent
Damn, I got the dice off of the prince and stuck em in the bank to see if there was a quest for em. I forgot about em until I went to Stonebrunt when it opened and talked to Miranda. Well I got all excited when she told me that she'd give me candy for some dice. Since when is yarn considered candy? Sure 4 charges of snare is nice, but I was really looking forward to some candy.
Can you Say Cleric Soloing
# Sep 01 2001 at 3:32 PM Rating: Decent
Hehe This item rocks, the hardest part about soloing specs in my early 40's was that I had no snare and root breaks too easy while nuking :) hehe toss in the fact that we can fear and you'll see clerics soloing specs as low as lvl 35 with these bad boys. Woot Wtg Verant
RE: Can you Say Cleric Soloing
# Sep 04 2001 at 7:04 AM Rating: Decent
Pssst. Hate to break your heart, but DE clerics dont need this, we've always had the Regent Symbol of Innoruuk. Clickable, unlimited, clinging darkness. Snare and DoT all in one package. It adds WIS, AC, and INT too. If you can recharge this, then it's great, otherwise you have to keep questing for it.
Pulling
# Aug 31 2001 at 5:42 AM Rating: Decent
This will be SERIOUSLY handy for advanced monk pullling, especially in velious.

Some tougher crowds like protectors in Kael etc really need an SK to split since he can snare one when inc so it doesnt return with the others the moment he FD's.

There are other items you can get but a 4 charge full-on snare item rocks.

I only hope you can actually get the quest drops if you are 50+
RE: Pulling
# Sep 03 2001 at 11:01 PM Rating: Decent
Actaully, the dice bag drops off of Prince Bragnar, a level 19 mob in the warrens. Therefore, with the loot rules in the Warrens, you would not be able to get the bag at 50+ and hence no ball of burlap yarn. Also, I do believe that the bag of dice is a no drop item so no buying it from lower levels.
RE: Pulling
# Jul 05 2002 at 12:33 PM Rating: Decent
I just got the bag of dice while farming faction and I'm L51 so I guess loot rules don't apply to quest items.

Heh
# Aug 30 2001 at 7:45 PM Rating: Decent
Snare is almost useless at 50+. You need Ensnare for it to really hold.
RE: Heh
# Aug 30 2001 at 10:17 PM Rating: Excellent
Thats so far from being true its not funny, with a 60 druid I've landed Snare (not Ensnare) on everything from WW Dragons to the Shroom King in Seb with little to no debuffs and very few resists. In the long run the lower level spell will save you mana and casting time. Also, Stonebrunt IS NOT FOR 50+ FOLKS, therefore these items ARE NOT GOING TO BE USED PAST 50!

Gah, some people need to remember that there are other people playing than themselves.
RE: Heh
# Aug 31 2001 at 9:48 AM Rating: Default
At lvl 60 you should know by now that you should use Ensnare because of the guarantied duration.
RE: Heh
# Feb 03 2002 at 6:36 AM Rating: Default
Ahhhh.... you mean the longer duration right? Cause snare always holds for the same amount of time. hehe Not exactly sure how long that is cause usually the mob dies before it can wear off, but it don't "break" like a root type spell will.
RE: Heh
# May 31 2002 at 6:33 PM Rating: Default
No Snare dosen't always hold for the same ammount of time, that's the problem. Any level 60 Druid using Snare instead or Ensnare would not get in my group. :) Save mana??? Bah at level 60 who needs to save Mana? We are talking 80 Mana difference here, not 800 o) Is there such a thing as a level 60 n00b? Looks like it. )

Snare Duration... 3 secs to 90 secs.
Ensnare Duration... 8 minutes.

Nuff said. o)
snare vs ensare
# Aug 30 2001 at 9:06 PM Rating: Decent
Ensare resists just as much as Snare for me. The only difference is duration, mana cost, and casting time.
RE: snare vs ensare
# May 31 2002 at 6:44 PM Rating: Default
That's because you are a Ranger, NOT a Druid. :o)

I am a Quad kiting Druid. Ensnare hits maybe 95 times out or every 100 casts on Mobs that Con Red to Dark blue. Snare will NOT hold on any mob that cons above even for longer than 3 seconds if you can get it to stick at all.

I don't think I'll worry about the mana costs, because I know that when all 4 mobs are snared, i got 8 mins to kill them. With Snare, I would be zoning every pull. :o)
RE: Heh
# Aug 30 2001 at 8:54 PM Rating: Decent
the key here is the lvl you need to get this item... only 18... it is good for that lvl area
Nice

If i could get the Dice these would be VERY nice...Snare would be great to solo with (being an Enchanter) ^_^

# Aug 30 2001 at 3:11 PM Rating: Decent
Wow these arent lore? you could carry a stack and snare like a Ranger on any class. Dont they usually make cross-class spell items lore?
RE: these arent Lore?
# Aug 30 2001 at 6:05 PM Rating: Decent
You can see in the icon that these aren't stackable.
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 30 2001 at 6:10 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) they may not be stackable but farming about a bp or 2 of these would set any1 up with some nice items, especially considering i don't think there is another way to get these. BTW, warriors could solo easier if they had these, that is why i say grab a bp or 2. )

There are silks from Crystal Caverns which have 2 charges of snare each. They do not stack. (They also do not weigh much and would justify a little lightweight Bear Potion Bag for carrying 20 charges of snare.)

Those might not be the ones your are talking about.

The Silks in CC have "ROOT" as effect not "SNARE"
RE: these arent Lore?
# Sep 05 2001 at 7:32 PM Rating: Default
For the record it's "Ensnaring Roots" which is a Root effect with 10 damage. Please note that the "ensnaring" part does NOT mean that it has any kind of snare effect. They will sit there (just like root) and when it's gone they'll run after you at full speed and well pissed off. Have a good day :)

I couldn't agree more...a bp or 2 would work wonders for those solo'ers w/o any method of slowing a MOB.

I suspect a "neft" to LORE on these soon.
